best stylist anywhere 9/25/2008

After recently moving here to the pittsburgh area, i needed a stylist who really knew my hair styling needs. After hearing about eikon, i decided to try out the salon. When i went in, i asked the receptionist for the best stylist they had. She immediately told me about stylist Shawn. I must say the receptionist was dead on. I thoroughly consulted with shawn about my very picky hair styling needs. He immediately knew exactly what to do. He designed the perfect color and cut for my hair. Ever since then, i have received numerous compliments on my hair style. I now have found my perfect stylist. In the immortal words of Tina Turner.....HE is simply the BEST!! I really liked this place 9/17/2008

I just moved back here from LA. A friend told me to go to eikon and I am so glad that I did. Stephen was amazing. He let me do the talking first. He actually listened and then gave me his opinion and told me what would and would not work for me. (I'm very lazy with my hair). I can't go to the salon every four weeks so he gave me a style so that I can come every 8 or 9 weeks and a glazing that would eventually wear off. I totally believe that you get what you pay for. I felt a great vibe at this salon!! 9/8/2008

I had an appointment with Stephen last Saturday, this was my first time at your salon and I was very impressed. He took the time to explain the products that would work for me and not against me. I adore my cut and appreciate the extra time he took. He is very friendly and a talented stylist. Your staff is extremely friendly and very professional. I find it very difficult to find a good salon. You either get a salon that has amazing stylists with terrible attitudes, or a salon with terrible stylist however, you find yourself going back to because everyone is so friendly. Your salon has a the perfect blend of both. Your staff is amazing (your receptionist is so sweet - and I think it was her first day on the job)! You have an amazing vibe and I will definitely make eikon my new salon and refer you to everyone I know. Thank you to the people who made my visit one to remember! Patty butchered me! 8/25/2008

Patty cut my hair but didn't stack like I wanted so I asked for a quickie appointment to stack it higher and she butchered me. It was a freebee so I guess she forgot how to cut hair. Great Salon 7/21/2008

I recently went to Eikon for the first time and it was a wonderful experience. When I called to make my appointment the first thing they asked was what my hair was like so they could put me with the best stylist for my hair type. When I got to the salon the entire staff was so nice, especially my stylist Pattie. I had her cut about 7 inches off of my hair and the cut turned out absolutely perfect. I love my new look and I will definitely be back. Pros: great stylist, great atmosphere more

Really great experience - eikon HAIR LOUNGE 5/29/2008

I have spent the past 4 years (since moving to Sewickley from L.A.) trying to find the ideal stylist. I wanted to find someone who: 1. ) Knew how to give a modern cut 2.) Knew how to perfect the coloring I was after 3. ) Was down to earth but professional 4.) Applied ZERO sales pressure but explained what he was using in my hair 5. ) Did not have to book 3 months in advance to get in for an appt. Tough order to fill! However, after trying several stylists at the 'top' salons, I found Shawn who met all of my criteria. I have been to Shawn three times and have another appointment scheduled for the weekend. Finally, people are back to complimenting my cut and color and I attribute it all to Shawn. I took in a couple of pictures of a haircut and Shawn was able to duplicate the cut to the exact standards I was hoping for. I recommend this salon to anyone who realizes that when you feel good about your hair, you feel even better about yourself. Thanks, Shawn! Hip Place 4/26/2008

I was skeptical of going to eikon given the ""hip"" nature of it. A lot of places like this give everyone the same ""it girl"" hair cut. I was pleasantly proven wrong. From the moment I got there, everyone was polite. My stylist, Pattie, was attentive to my concerns, and tailored my hair cut to both what I wanted and what would look best on me. And if the whole experience was not good enough, Pattie gave me an amazing style (I would have been happy with the shampoo and the styling alone). And, to finish off a great cut. I left feeling (and looking) as though I should have paid a lot more for the amazing job that Pattie did. Pros: hip upscale -- easy location more

Fantastic cut, color, cup of coffee, and conversation 4/5/2008

Selfishly, I'm sad to recommend the best hair person ever, LaVetta, because I'd like to keep her a secret. But I have to report that she does fantastic cuts and color that turn boring mousy hair into fab bouncy blond hair. Her cut was flattering and easy, and looked just as good the day after the salon, and the next day and the next. Perfect for the hair-procrastinator that waits three months to go in! And the coffee is pretty darn good, too. The 7 AM appointments will get your day started right and she is so entertaining to talk with. i've been going to Hair By Damian, (well I guess its now called eikon HAIR LOUNGE for awhile now and Pattie is amazing! Hands down the best cut and color everytime i walk out the door. The other stylists are always welcoming and eager to assist. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SALON if you want the best salon experience ever.\r \r Pros: atmosphere, quality, smiling faces, great hair! Great Atmosphere 3/17/2008

This is a really nice hair salon. All of the employees are nice and treat you special. The problem is that the stylists can get distracted and chatty among each other while cutting your hair. I have gone several times now to the same hair stylist, and she does a pretty good job. The problem is, she can be inconsistent and your hair will come out a bit different each time. I would recommend this salon, just make sure you like your stylist. Pros: Nice atmosphere; professional Cons: Inconsistent hair cuts more

trendy but talented 3/12/2008

Although I have only been around Pittsburgh for a year, I found my entire experience at eikon to be incredibly enjoyable and every staff member with whom I had contact to be nothing but competent and polite (Carrie is my current stylist of choice). Hailing from a large city myself, I too have become accustomed to paying quite a bit for a quality haircut, but I found the price point at eikon to be completely appropriate if not underrated for Wexford. The atmosphere was immediately relaxing and inviting. I intend to consistently frequent eikon in the future and would recommend the same to anyone. The staff possesses a degree of professionalism that I deem a true rarity in the business. Keep up the fantastic work!\r \r Pros: very talented staff Cons: really none more

t is just the nature of people to tell you when something goes wrong, especially when it comes to customer service or places we do business; however, people rarely take the time to tell you when something goes right or when someone does an amazing job. That is why I am writing this review. I started going to Carrie at Hair By Damian and was amazed at the professionalism and atmosphere. She styled my hair and curled it and I don't think I had ever really liked my hair until that day. I had the Victoria's Secret look and it gave me so much confidence! Carrie takes the time to really know ALL her customers and what they want out of their haircut or color. She always makes suggestions and I have always agreed with her because I know she is going to keep me looking as amazing as my hair will allow! Also, she styles my hair differently every time I get it cut to show me different options. I love this!! Most stylists I have been to in the past have treated what they do as ""just a job"" and have always simply done whatever I asked them to do regarding my hair, even when it wasn't the best decision based on face shape or other reasons. CARRIE KNOWS HAIR, and you can trust that she is always going to make you look your absolute best! ! If you want to leave feeling like you've had a make-over, Carrie is your girl! The place is wonderful - the entire staff always makes me feel so welcome. PS - the other stylists look like they take the time with you also, I just have never experienced them personally. Hair by Damian is wonderful in Wexford! 1/31/2008

I will soon have my 4th haircut by LaV'etta, her cuts on my baby fine thin hair are wonderful. I am also hooked on her brow waxes. She is so joyful and talented, you will have fun and end up looking great! Everyone at the salon is so relaxed and personable. I have also had the best brownies and coffee there too! more

Great staff, great cut - definite must 1/2/2008

Have to agree with recent postings,,,thank you for commenting - after reading your comments I called and that afternoone had an appointment. LUV it!! LaVette is awesome and so welcoming - as is everyone! For those reading reviews older than a year or so - the salon has a new owner, new staff and is GREAT!!! So glad I came across the reviews for now I have a new salon & I will shout it from the roof tops! Definitely a must to visit!!! more

Before I went to this salon -- I used to visit a salon just down the road. My favorite stylist had left there awhile ago and its what brought me to find a new salon anyway. Imagine my surprise to have Pattie show up here as a hairstylist. I am delighted now to have the option of two great stylists that I trust!! They say that ""cream"" always rises to the top and I am thrilled that Pattie Bozich has made her way to this salon!!!!! Went here years ago and had a so-so experience. Almost out of desperation I called and was given a last minute appointment. The owner Stephen was wonderful with me (turns out he bought the place from Damian about a year ago) and took time to make sure he fitted me with the right stylist. He put me with Kathleen who is a rock star!!! I had such a great experience. Stephen helped take what was an already very nice upscale salon -- and eliminated the stuffines that used to be there. It's a downtown salon in suberbia (and very handy to Sewickley). I also got to see Stephen do an amazing color while I was there. The third stylist I had interaction with was La'Vetta and she made me feel like her best friend!!! I love this place now. They finally filled in the missing pieces for me. Stephen - if you get to read this I really think you should add some body waxing services!!!!! Pros: Skill set was extremely high - also saw they are taking 7am appointments!!!!!!! Cons: Limited waxing services, but I am working on the owner more

Best Hair Salon Around Town 8/5/2007

Little wonder Hair By Damian in Wexford has won the award for best hair salon 5 years in a row. Had a top of the line experience with LaVetta (what a hoot). The salon is not pretentious in the least - nothing stuffy about the attitudes there and I fely extremely welcomed. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Hairstylists do come and go, but this salon has maintained a very high standard of excellence. While I was there Kathleen cut someone's hai who was donating it to the cancer center and the transformation was unbelievable - what an outstanding haircut. Thumbs up for making my day so pampering and a joy!!! Pros: Ambience Cons: I was sort of partial to Pureology but they carry Bumble and bumble more
