Kitchen co-ordination lacking 8/23/2007

Fast seating, good food if you can get it. Service tends to parcel out food orders, one person at the table at a time. It has been as long as ten minutes between delivery, the idea is to eat together. This has happened several times. Only been for breakfast. more

You be the judge, a new take on the status quo 7/30/2007

I ate here for the first time with some co-workers based on a ""rave"" of a recommendation from a friend, that claimed it to have the best breakfast burrito in town. The menu at first glance looks like any menu from any diner in any town. They have burritos, huevos rancheros, omelets, waffles, pancakes, french dip, blah, blah, blah, blah. But the dishes when plated are anything but traditional. The cornbeef has isn't mashed with small potatoes. It's huge cubes of cornbeef with huge diced potatoes. The French dip is stacked about a mile high. The breakfast burrito is basically anything you can imagine putting in an omelet and then rolled into a flower tortilla. Having said all that, the bottom line is the food is good... but not great. There isn't one thing on the menu that I would say if you are going to ""Eggs"" you have to get this. The decor and the ambiance are more of an attraction than the food. The people are nice and jovial to ""regulars"" and apathetic to others. The cooks work in an area no bigger than a jail cell so when busy plates are served as they come out. So it's not uncommon to get your food 20 mins before or after others at your table. Pros: Ambience, decor, patio Cons: service more

wanna be yuppie, and disappointing. 7/16/2007

My boyfriend and I went to Eggs in the City because our friend had suggested it. The food was boring, and we had to order our food three times because they were out of everything. They were out of egg whites, eggs Florentine, sausage, bacon, Caesar salad, and who knows what else. My food came out an hour before my boyfriends did, and by the time his finally came out I had already finished my meal. The server was apathetic, and acted like she was doing us a favor when she comped our breakfast. I will not be returning to that overly pretentious cafe. They only serve mediocre food, and they don?t even have an espresso machine. Don't go there unless you like rude service, bad food, and no options, because they'll be out of whatever you want. Pros: I don't have to eat there again! Cons: where to begin? more

Love this place!!!!!!!!!! 6/28/2007

IT began with the people, which is where it starts for me everywhere. There AWSOME, Then came the food, Its AWSOME. I had the Huevos Rancheros and I have to say it was as good as I""ve ever had. The location and feel of the place was inviting and warm with an incredible patio. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK! Pros: Food, People, Ambience more

best french dip ever, avoid on holidays, hot bus boy 6/24/2007

eggs in the city is the best resturant in town, consitering that my mom owns the place. the french dip is amazing, and same with the french toast. diablo is the best cook in town! heather harrison is the nicest owner you will ever meet, and you can't even deny it! so when you go to eggs next time, ask for heather and tell her that ryan said she is the best!!!!!!!! so for all you haters out there, go get a life cuz it is the best breakfast food ever, and they have amazing egg pictures on the wall that are hilarious!!!! so all you haters who hate ballers, go to hell and go to eggs!!!!! more

Lamest breakfast burrito ever! 2/10/2007

Service was great. Staff was friendly. The potatos were very good but the breakfast burrito was merely scrambled eggs in a flour tortilla with a little cheese sprinkled on top. No peppers, no beans, no cilantro, no meat, and no flavor. Nothing to recommend it. The salsa was very weak as well. more

Great breakfast, great place 1/26/2007

Just went there this morning for breakfast with my 20 month old son. The staff was very friendly and helpful as I wanted to change where they seated me to accomodate for a high-chair for my son. The food is excellent! Well, I've only tired the breakfast burrito and I think it is the best breakfast burrito anywhere, very delicious and the potatoes that came with it were excellent, as well! My sometimes picky son also thoroughly enjoyed his breakfast, he devoured his scrambled eggs and a side of yogurt. The price was very reasonable and I found the service to be quick and attentive. They brought out my beverage immediately, the meal didn't take long to prepare, and the check was available before I was finished eating. Great service, great place! more

I have to say that this place is terrible! The service was horrendous and the food was mediocre. It may have been worth it until they jacked up their menu! There are much better places in the area. Pros: location Cons: bad service, mediocre food, jacked up prices more

Great place to get some FABULOUS food. 9/15/2005

Just looking at the vivid yolk-yellow color of the outside of the garage-turned-restaurant gets your day started! And if that doesn't, the coffee will-- not for the weak of heart, it is brewed strong all day long-- truly satisfying. It goes down smooth, and has just the right snap. Two items I would recommend-- the breakfast burrito, bacon inside, smothered with chef Manny's superb chile verde; also the breakfast brule-- Irish oatmeal with caramelized brown sugar on top, which I had topped with nuts, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. Very good meals. Also, the summer heat problem has been fixed-- the owners installed a shade on the patio with light misters around the perimeter to create cool comfort. The business of the restaurant is forgiveable, as the food is great. Don't complain that your check took too long, though, as you are supposed to pay at the register! Pros: Breakfast, Coffee Cons: Wait--forgiveable more

Has a potential to be a good little cafe 8/1/2005

It's cute and quaint, it seems a little slow to only one old cash register running when you are kind of in a hurry for breakfast. We had to wait a little while for someone to ring us up. (Longer than you wait at Denny's let's say) Bad comparison, I know I just would really like to be able to see this become no nonsense breakfast in case you want to pick something up on your way to work. Great Idea-Food is something else! Pros: Good Food , Great Idea, Coffee was good Cons: Service too slow more

Great visit back!!!!!!! 5/31/2005

I just made it back to eggs after being out of town for while, IT WAS JUST AS GOOD AS I LEFT IT. I love the people, the food and the charm of the place the more and more I go there. It really says something to me about a restaurant that can maintain its buzz.. Keep it up eggs I love your place!!!!! Pros: Food, Service, Coffee Cons: open 7-2 more

Great Time and Food 5/31/2005

This place is like a breakfast version of cheers. The staff seems to know eveyones name and the food is great. Pros: great service, good food , cool concept more

Don't go in the summer 4/29/2005

I ate here in the summer and almost passed out with the heat! The garage-turned-restaurant is quaint but the poor venilation and summer heat about gave me heat stroke. The food, while prepared quickly, didn't taste like much. The coffee was downright funky - someone said it is Canadian and some kind of unusual blend. Darn right. The potatoes had tons of seasoning on them and I picked at my food. The service was spotty & we had to beg for our check...I think I'll stick to places with good air conditioning, good coffee and consistent service. Pros: Location Cons: Average Food, Spotty Service more
