First impression - I am definitely not impressed. \r \r I called there to try to set up an appointment with Susan, the Director. I told her when I would be in the area, and that...

Educational Playcare is a very warm, engaging, and family-like environment! 6/10/2016

Everything's great! We joined Educational Playcare's West Hartford location while it was open during construction. So we've been there, technically, since the beginning. They are super full-service: they offer hair cuts, do music classes, yoga classes, and offer really other great activities integrated into the day. What I love about Educational Playcare is that when I walk in the door, they know me as "so-and-so's" mom. I have to give them four stars in Total Experience though when it comes down to communication. They're really good at sending photos throughout the day and relatively detailed reports of what the kids are doing throughout the day. However, when it comes to their transition from one class to another, I'm not told. This is also the case when either of my children are visiting a classroom or they're preparing them for preschool which I'd like to know so I can also help manage transitions at home as well. In summary, I drop my kids off at 8 in the morning and when I pick them up at 6 in the evening, they're still not ready to go because they're having too much fun! more

Caring and safe space 5/17/2016

We have been using Educational Playcare for about a year. They are very caring with the children. We felt very safe leaving our daughter there. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a place to send their child. more

Change teachers too often. 5/16/2016

We were taking our child to Educational Playcare for a while but we recently switched over to a different school. the main reason we left was I felt they switched teachers too often, I felt like every 4 months or so we had a new teacher to get to know. Another reason we switched was I felt like it was more play care and less of an educational environment, so that was another reason we decided to switch. more

Change is good 5/12/2016

I am really really happy with the center now!!! I am so impressed with the new director Jennifer, and the changes she implemented. The center, now, looks clean, organized, and well put together. Soooooo impressive Jennifer, job well done!!!! The staff now is attentive, professional, and just seem happier to be there. I also like the new "employee of the month" initiative, because staff should be commended for a job well done. Speaking of staff I want to mention my daughter's teacher Ms. Daniesha (bluebird) I just love her, she is amazing with the children!!! I always find her patiently interacting with the kids, something of a feat if accomplished with 3 yr olds. My daughter wants to go to daycare now, and she's learning so much (the curriculum is MUCH IMPROVED!!!). I could go on and on about the improvements at the center, but lets summarize with this: I am one happy momma bear! more

No problems! 5/5/2016

At Educational Playcare, I like the fact that if you talk to the director about a concern once, it gets rectified the next day. Everyone makes mistakes but the fact that they appreciate feedback and react right away the very next day was key to me. I also like the fact that they keep updating us with pictures and videos of what the kids are doing. It is a little expensive, but it is worth the price. At one point they kept changing our kid's teacher and I thought it was kind of odd, but we do understand they sometimes have to move around with their schedule. They are extremely receptive to feedback and the kids have learned a lot. They are on their way to kindergarten! more

So far it's okay. The construction is making things unusual. 4/18/2016

It's been a year more than a year now maybe we started sending our kid to Educational Playcare. We started out by sending our kid full time and then we went to part time. So far, it's okay. You know, they have construction going on so it's not really as good and it usually is but after the construction is over, we are sure it'll go back to normal. Sometimes some of the feedback is specific to some of the staff, some are better than others, that's the thing. Maybe there is some sort of training that they could do to even things up among everyone. more

Convenient and attentive, my son is in good hands. 4/4/2016

Educational Playcare has provided day care services for my son who is a part-time attendee in their program and everything has been excellent. They profide a bunch of different activities and learning for the kids, like yoga, art, and music. They also provide healthy lunches for the children and it's very convenient for busy families. Educational Playcare has a lot to offer and communication is very important to them. The staff listens and tries to address any concerns that we have. My son is very happy in their care and there's not much more I can ask for. more

Fun activities and an amazing staff 3/29/2016

My two toddlers go to Educational Playcare full time and I love their service. I'm reassured that my children are in a great place and they make it easy to trust them. My kids love going there because they provide meals, diaper services, and fun community activities such as yoga, sign language, and my oldest child has even started baking. The staff is very receptive and does so much with them. The entire staff is excellent and I would tell other parents to trust taking your kids to Educational Playcare. Your mind will be at ease and your children will love going there. more

A Great Experience 3/29/2016

Educational Playcare has a great curriculum for my children who are 22 months old and 3 years old. My son says he loves going there. They have a terrific educational staff who are super pleasant and friendly. I feel secure leaving my children with Educational Playcare. Prices are fair. The nutrition they provide for the children is very good. I like how they know my children by name and how very attentive they are to them. I also appreciate how they provide suggestions to me about my children. I would definitely recommend this company to any parent. more

Age specific activites 3/9/2016

I really like the way they do things over at Educational Playcare. The activities that they have for the kids is based on age and helps them to learn things that are specific and relevant to their age. For example my son who is a toddler, they teach them textures and how to recognize textures, and they do activities that might be messy to do at home, so the kids can learn without you having to make a mess of your home. The other thing I like about this place is that they are very good at communicating with you. They send you picture updates of what your child is doing or has done and if you want to talk to your child there is no real disconnect. They also are very accommodating and want to make sure that you feel comfortable leaving your child with them, even if the child has an emergency they can handle it. This is just a great child care place and I would highly recommend it. more

I'm very happy with their service 3/8/2016

I really like the teachers at Educational Playcare. They do a really good job. Everything's gone really good so far. I've recommended them to colleagues. more

Very involved and caring 3/1/2016

The people over at Educational Playcare are very good at communicating with me and keeping me updated on the status of my son throughout the day. I really appreciate that they will let me know how he is doing, as well as bringing to my attention any concerns or suggestions that they might have with issues that my son may be having, whether it is picky eating or not sleeping during nap time. I really appreciate how involved they are as it shows that they genuinely care for my son. I have never had a bad experience with this place and I know my son loves it here too! more

Great Teachers and Great Environment 2/23/2016

When my daughter first started over at Educational Playcare, for some reason her and the teacher were not getting along. We had just moved to Connecticut and my first reaction was to pull my daughter, wait a couple months, and try again at a new place. Ms. Libby spent a lot of time with us and talked to me about switching her to a different class and waiting a couple months to see how my daughter felt. I am so glad that I did not pull my daughter, because she got switched to Ms. Tanya's class and it has just been wonderful for her, it is like a match made in heaven. They just have a great environment over there and my daughter just absolutely loves it. Whenever I go to pick up my daughter I will go like fifteen minutes early and just hang out while I wait for the class to be finished. Everything is just excellent, from the teachers to the food to the environment, excellent. more

More than pleased! 1/28/2016

We have been very pleased with Educational Playcare. We have been really happy there. My son was a little past two years old when he started a year and a half ago in September, and he hadn't been in day care or had a babysitter before, so it was his first time with any type of care like that. The staff at Educational Playcare were very considerate of that, and they individualized the process for him- as they do with everyone who first comes in. We made the switch to preschool this year, and he doesn't like change, so they were considerate of that as well. Parents are welcome to be there at any point, so to ease him in to it, I was there for the the whole time on his first day. He went for half-days and I was allowed to be there, so we weaned him off that in the mornings. The prices have seemed very reasonable to us. This is the first time we have had anybody in daycare and it has seemed very fair. Libby Merc was the director at the time when we first joined, and she has been great. She got a good feel for my son's personality the first time we met. Ms. Alex, his first teacher, is fabulous, and he really loves his current teachers, Ms. Megan and Ms. Rebecca. Halfway through his first year he had Ms. April, who he really loves. Jasmine, who prepares the meals, often spends time with the kids and she is just wonderful. We see her every day and she knows all the kids. I really like the way the provide feedback to the parents and the way they talk to my son. They comfort him if he is upset and they seem to be aware of his personality. The staff are very nice across the board. They seem to know every child, even if they don't work in that child's classroom. When we walk down the hallway, everybody greets my son by name. When the usual teacher is out sick or needs to be in a different room, it's nice that the person filling in already knows everyone and there is more familiarity there. Overall Educational Playcare has been fantastic for us and we are really happy there. more

They are very caring about my son and they care about the children. 1/28/2016

My son has been going to Educational Playcare, he is 2 now and what I really like about them is that I think that they have a comprehensive facility that provides learning and it is not just a day care facility. They provide a new opportunity to learn so many different things because they actually have a curriculum and it is nice to know that they have the same curriculum in each location. I know that to be the case because my son used to go to another location and I ended up having to move to West Hartford and take him to another one and it felt that the program was the same to the prior one and I was comfortable with that. They are very caring about my son and they care about the children. more

My son transformed at Educational Playcare! 1/26/2016

Educational Playcare has really good service. The management as well as teachers make everything very convenient. My son went there and even with the language barrier, they were able to help him and get him involved with activities and other friends. Within a few months, we saw a huge difference in his behavior. He missed it so much because he had such a good time. We sent him to Educational Playcare last year for four months and this year for three months, so we have used them for about seven months total so far. It's always a nerve wracking experience to send your kids to a new facility, but you just feel welcome at Educational Playcare because they take care of every little detail. Every time you leave your kids there, you feel confident that they will be okay. My son's mother was so worried during the first week we tried them out and was reassured during the day with the pictures and feedback they sent. It's great to know that my son is safe, having fun, and learning. I highly recommend them. more

Great! 1/19/2016

My child really enjoys Educational Playcare. I've been using them for a year and a half and am very happy with them. The teachers are great and take good care of my child. more

Great 1/2/2016

A comforting home away from home for your kids. 12/23/2015

Our son has been with Educational Playcare for about a year. Before we enrolled him there, we spent a lot of time touring daycare centers. They seemed like the best option. Educational Playcare utilizes the Tadpole app so I can get pictures of my son throughout the day. It also sends out an electronic report. They also provide two snacks and a lunch daily. The lunch is good. It is not cookies and sugar; it is healthy. When they clean all the toys, supplies, cots, etc. they use a zono machine. It kills any viruses and is very clean, as opposed to the bleach and water method that a lot of other daycares use. They also provide a great environment. As a first time mom it was really difficult leaving my son in the care of others, but they made me feel right at home. It is a warm, comforting place, and my son loves it. more

Very pleased with their programs 12/7/2015

I have been taking my children to Educational Playcare for a little over a year and I've been very happy with their programs. My two-year-old is really moving along within her group and has been learning a lot in terms of social skills and language. I love that they sing songs and have helped her advance in her program. The staff is very friendly and know both of my kids' names, it's a very pleasant environment. Their prices are competitive and they open earlier and close a little later than most daycares in the area, plus they provide snacks and meals, which makes my life easier as a parent. Educational Playcare is a great place to look at if you need a daycare. more

Owner Message
  • Today, the importance of positive childhood experiences, starting from infancy, and their relation to future success in life is universally understood. It wasn't so when we began in 1986. When we originally selected the name "Educational Playcare", it was because of our understanding of the importance of play in order for learning to take place. We also knew the importance of providing a nurturing, secure, joyful and stimulating environment. Children learn best through direct experience. We believe that this direct experience is best gained through play, for play is the work of children. It is through play that children develop concepts about themselves and the world around them. Our goal is to provide the ideal environment to support the "work" of children. Educational Playcare was established in 1986 to provide full and part-time childcare and educational programs for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. We are proud of our reputation as the provider of the highest-quality childcare, nursery school, and preschool programs for children that can be found anywhere. We've distinguished ourselves by providing exceptional services through being consistently at the cutting edge of technology as it applies to the early childhood industry and we've maintained these high standards with the quality control that comes from being owner operated. Despite our relatively small size, however, we are still able to offer all of the benefits of the large "corporate" child care centers and more! It has been our privilege to provide childcare services to thousands of families in Connecticut. In fact, some of our previous students have come back to work for us and help nurture the next generation!. Full and part time educational childcare programs for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old.
