Thunder Falls Buffet - Seneca Niagara Casino 10/13/2006

Thunder Falls Buffet is located in the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, NY. This is the largest, fanciest buffet I have ever been to in my life! The food is really, really great! There is a salad buffet, Chinese food, Italian food, homestyle food, chicken, meatloaf, potatoes, seafood, pizzas, soups, and much more. Save the best for last, their desserts are amazing! The restaurant is huge and the atmosphere is comfortable. It's a great place to eat with a group as well. Children are also welcome here. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. They also have a breakfast buffet has every breakfast food imaginable. I love breakfast food so I was in heaven eating breakfast here. It was also great to eat here for breakfast because I filled up for the day. This is by far the best buffet in the area! more

Fall for the Falls 10/1/2006

Although we were a little late by the time we arrived in Niagara Falls to see the full brilliance of the autumn leaves changing colors, we enjoyed every minute we spent there. Both American and Canada own a part of Niagara Falls. The Canadian side of the falls are called Horseshoe Falls. The remaining two waterfalls are called simply the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. The American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls comprise Niagara Falls State Park. We began our tour of Niagara Falls at the Observation Tower at Prospect Point. For someone who doesn't like heights, it was a little daunting for me to be so high off the ground, but you do get a spectacular view of the falls and the surrounding countryside. Although I wasn't brave enough to do it, my fiancee went out on the Crow’s Nest for an even better view. When we were done looking around, we took the elevator down to the dock where we boarded the Maid of the Mist boat ride. Although it was getting chilly by the time we arrived at Niagara Falls, we decided to go ahead and take this unique tour. Living in Florida, we'd both been on many boat rides but never anything like this. It's an exciting voyage that takes you right into the base of the American Falls. In fact, they gave us raincoats to wear so we wouldn't get dripping wet. Some people decided to defy Mother Nature and didn't put on their raincoats. It was like sitting in the front row at Sea World. They got sopping wet! It's a great adventure and a must-do if you're visiting the Falls. At night, the Falls are lit with a rainbow of colors that is an unbelievably gorgeous site. Because we stayed on the Canadian side of the Falls, we could see this array from one end of the Falls to the other. Although I can't review the Canadian hotel we stayed in, I would say if you're staying in Niagara Falls, be sure to stay on the Canadian side. more

Niagara Falls... beautiful! 4/13/2006

Niagara Falls is one of the wonders of the world and it's evident when you visit the actual falls. Unfortunately, the city surrounding it is in need of improvement but the actual park and falls are still spectacular. It's neat to see from the American side because you can get almost within touch of the falls. It's marvelous. I may be biased though because my hubby proposed to me there. Though it was a favorite place to visit before then as well. It's not as commercialized which is refreshing for a "typical tourist" location. To get the best experience I think it's necessary to see it from both the American and Canadian side. Also, there is a great walking path around Goat Island which is scenic. more

the falls, from a slanted angle 8/20/2005

So you see images of niagara falls all the time and they look grand and spectacular. Well, they sort of are, but from the American side looking over at the Niagara Falls, the view is okay, but not the best. You see the Falls from a sideways angle so you don't get a full view of it. The best way to get a good view is to go to the Canadian side, where you see much more and get a much nicer view. There's also more touristy things on the Canadian side. You can also take a ferry (the Maid of the Mist) on both sides which will take you very close to the Falls. You'll get a poncho or otherwise you'll be drenched. During the summers, there's a fireworks display that takes place very frequently. The Falls are lit up and the display lasts for about 20 minutes. They're actually very nice and also very neat to see take place above the Falls (especially on the Canadian side). Overall, it is a nice place to visit, but don't set your expectations too high. And if you are able, do go to the Canadian side where the view and surrounding areas are much better. more
