I had not been to see Dr. Eckman in several years.\r However, When I called the office to schedule an appointment, I was still in the computer.\r Mrs. Sharon answered the phone and her voice was warm and sensitive.\r \r When I arrived at the office I was greeted warmly. I met Emma, Dr. Eckman's Medical Assistant, she was very congenial.\r \r When Dr. Eckman entered the examining room, he was still the warm and caring Doctor that I remembered from my last visit. \r \r Finally, I had recommended him to my niece several months ago, and she informed me that she really like his manner when he treated her.\r \r Dr. Eckman is a phenomenal M.D. and I would highly recommend him to others without reservation.\r \r Reverend L.Curry more

I've never made a comment on this site before, but I simply must PRAISE Dr. Israel Eckman. I've been treated over the years by several dermatologists and I must say I feel he is one of the most competent, knowledgeable and thorough I've encountered. I’ve found him to be consistently and consummately professional in every manner. His office is extremely well managed and his staff...outstanding. While many physicians routinely keep patients waiting beyond the appointed hour, .this has never happened to me in Dr. Eckman’s office. He has personally returned my phone calls when I’ve made inquiries about prescriptions or had questions. He takes the time to explain every detail and has never made me feel like I was getting the “bum’s rush.” Most importantly, he definitely ""knows his stuff."" If you have a dermatological issue, I assure you he will be diligent and thorough in finding, diagnosing, and handling your problem with precision. In my view, he's among the ""best of the best” in this region for sure. more

Good service. I went to Dr. Eckman's office for the first time this morning (7/2/13). I was a little reluctant due to some negative reviews I found, but on the other hand, he was the only dermatologist who had a waiting time for new patients of less than 4-7 months. I'm glad I chose to go to his office. I had no problems with the receptionists or the physician's assistants.\r \r I did have to wait half an hour or so before being called back, though unfortunately that is par for the course with doctors. It was probably another 20 minutes or so till I saw Dr. Eckman. A medical assistant had already seen me, and a PA-in-training was with me at the moment. Dr. Eckman looked at the couple of bumps on my head that needed removal (a cyst under the hair and a wart-like growth on an eyelid). He asked if I wanted them removed during that office visit, and I said I did. He told me that one would be covered under the fee for the office visit, and that the other was considered elective, and that it would cost a certain amount. I had to wait another 15 minutes or so before one PA removed the cyst (a very simple operation), and then I was immediately taken to another room where another PA removed the bump on my eyelid. Both of the removal operations went smoothly and quickly. The cost was exactly what Dr. Eckman had said. Unlike someone wrote earlier here, the price was not increased at the time I paid.\r \r Conclusion: Dr. Eckman is a fine doctor and he has a good staff. I have no hesitation about recommending him to anyone who needs the services of a dermatologist. more

Great doc! My entire family has been seeing him for years. Generally only a short wait in the waiting room. He keeps up to date on latest medicines and is very good about convincing the insurance company that you must have the latest medicine even though its not on the formulary. more

BAD! I don't know why I stayed so long, really. The staff is HORRIBLE, they never return your calls or your pharmacy's calls, the P.A. is a cold fish... they really seem to not care at all. The doctor is mediocre at best, and surrounds himself with poor help. Do yourself a favor, pick someone else. more

Terrible. Kept charging my acne procedures as ""cosmetic"". Kept prescribing the same medicaiton even though after 6 months of use my conditions continually worsened. His horrible assistant had to extract a superficial open comedone on my face -- she was so rough with it that I now have a huge pit where she gouged out. This clinic has destroyed my face. more

Horrible--Stay Away! 1/21/2012

Poor, poor physician!! I was given a price and then he charged 2 1/2 times more. Asked for a detailed itemized bill sent to me of what exactly was done that the price was so much more and all I got was a standard bill with cosmetic procedure listed. I have no idea what was done but I was grossly over billed. He will not have any contact with you after the fact. Asked receptionist to give him a message and she said she was not allowed to. Horrible experience--PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!! more

Wonderful Doctor!! 10/26/2010

My pediatrician gave me several pediatricians I could try for my son and I went with one that gave me the soonest appointment (since my son was complaining a lot) and that was Dr. Eckman. Ordinarily I don't give doctor reviews but before seeing him I saw the negative review written here and was a bit concerned about the visit and now I figure mainly people with an axe to grind would leave bad reviews so I resolved to relate our experience which was positive. Despite us not yet having our insurance cards sent to us yet they were able to handle the situation smoothly and we saw the doctor after about 20 minutes (partly due to getting the insurance situation sorted out). The reception people were nice. A new person there was being shown the ropes. The doctor was nice and professional. The visit went smoothly and the doctor took all the necessary time he needed with my son. It was a positive experience for us. While I hope to never need to see a doctor, we will certainly be considering Doctor Eckman for any dermatology type problems that might arise in the future. more

HORRIBLE STAY AWAY 4/30/2010

I went to Dr. Eckman to have some moles assessed, removed, and biopsied. Dr. Eckman doesnt even do the work, his horrible PA Cindy does it. He walks in and out of the room, has no bedside manner and has other ppl do the work. She first told me that the moles from a medical standpoint were not of concern. Only because I am a nursing student and know better and was persistent did they even do the biopsy, which turned out to be melanoma! Then when i went in to have the excisions done and removed deeper, the PA marked the wrong mole! When Dr. Eckman came in to check on things and only say hello, he questioned her, the 3 of them argued back and forth, and he scolded her ALL IN FRONT OF ME! They called in my fiance and mother to ask them both, which spot they thought was the right one!? Isnt that their job, this is cancer we are dealing with and they need to remove the right one! After the 1st excision I had another appt already made to remove the second one on the same day, which Eckman kept commenting about saying we only have time for one..but i had the appt time already allotted for both. They kept me waiting completely uncovered on the table for 30 minutes only to come back in and say they couldnt do the second exision because they were behind and didnt have time. They will only do as little as possible so they can get you to keep coming in for more appointments and charge your insurance company for several visits. I have 6 other moles to be removed and although it take approximately 3 minutes total to do each, they will only do 2 at a time. I am a nursing student and have been in every hospital in the Baltimore area and this was by far the WORST experience I have ever had. GO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN HERE! Pros: Quick for appointment, but thats only bc theyre horrible Cons: Everything more

Excellent Doctor, Some Staff Has A Poor Attitude 2/26/2010

The office is beautiful. It feels like an upscale dermatologist's office. My visit to Dr. Eckman was overall pretty good. There were only a few drawbacks. The first drawback was that the young, Asian receptionist had a horrible attitude. She gave myself and many other patients an attitudinal stare, and was sometime quite short. There was a slightly older receptionist who was very kind and personable. If it wasn't for her I probably would have walked out. Pros: Clearing my acne and hyoerpigmentation Cons: Asian recept. needs a better attitude more

Outstanding Doctor 1/18/2010

Dr. Israel Eckman is a concerned, excellent dermatologist who is thorough and diligent. My son can actually get in to see him in reasonable time. If you call with a question, they call you back and he examines you and is precise and a man of few words but kind. His office is clean and all staff put forth their best effort to help you feel cared for. Both myself and my daughter were cared for very well. He knows immediately what needs to come off and what is normal. I feel blessed to have Dr. Eckman as one of our doctors. Pros: Excellent office and staff more
