A Favorite New Place 4/3/2005

this is one of my favorite new restaurants in portland. the servers are friendly, attentive, and personable and the food is superbparticularly for the price. i have loved everything i've had here (particularly the cheese soup, crab dip, pecan crusted cod, and the creme brulee trio) and would probably love the things i haven't as well! the drinks are also good, and the space is fantastic. Pros: great food, great service, well priced more

super food! cocktails! service! attitude! 3/7/2005

so far i've loved everything i've eaten here ... the service is superb, all the style and quality control withOUT a trace of snobbery more

Good addition to the neighborhood 2/12/2005

We were a little surprised by the wait for a table, but we ended up ordering appetizers and drinks at the bar. My dirti martini was one of the best I've had in a while. The cheese crab dip appetizer was pretty good, but we had to ask for more bread and it wasn't sliced very well. We eventually got our table and ordered. The food was delivered surprisingly fast. The servers were great, always smiling. I ordered the raviolis which were simmering in a heavy non-creamy garlic-spinach sauce, which was really good. Another friend had the pot-pie which was well recieved. But, the best bang for the buck I thought, was the hamburger which had bacon and a nice side salad for only $7 dollars. What I like about living in the Eliot neighborhood in inner northeast is the diversity. Unfortunately, you won't find that at Echo. Pros: good mixed drinks, fast service Cons: waited for table, a little spendy more

Refreshing atmosphere 12/19/2004

Visited Echo for the first time this weekend and was pleasantly surprised to find a cool, laid-back environment AND great food and drinks right there on MLK. The squash & gorgonzola ravioli with hazelnuts was delicious, and the other plates around my table looked great as well. Portion sizes were perfect, leaving us all satisfied with our dinners, but with just enough room left for dessert, which was also a great treat. The personal pecan pie was fantastic, and the Mississippi Mud Bar was the envy of the table. I'll definitely be back! Pros: Free parking, Good prices, Great service more

Great place! 8/19/2004

Great addition to the neighborhood and MLK! This place just feels right. It's cozy with exposed brick walls, large windows, booths and a prominant, granite-topped bar. The menu is interesting (try the sweet potato custard!) and very reasonably priced ($6-12 for most entrees). The service is excellent - casual and friendly, but efficient. And great cocktails. What's not to like? more

Not In My Neighborhood 8/5/2004

This place isn't in my neighborhood, but it is close enough to the Rose Quarter to visit after an event....and, still far enough away from all the post-event traffic. The food is excellent (try the black honey halibut!) the shrimp kabob appz are simple yet somehow splendid. The place has brick walls and a nice outdoor patio which is a surprise since it is nestled between two buildings and not just a seat on the sidewalk next to busy MLK. Pros: Free Parking, Patio more

Cool New Bar 7/26/2004

A cool place for drinks on MLK. The space is terrific, like a gallery. The drinks are excellent. Definately a place for hanging out. Pros: Great Drinks, Cool Space more
