In Response to Cape Cod Home Owner 7/28/2011

In response to Cape Cod Home Owner's issue with ""No Service"", I am the individual who answered his phone call that day. He indicated that he needed an electrician to preform an electrical job by connecting a piece of electrical equipment (Pool Pump). During the initial phone call, it was advised to me that his wiring was improperly done by another Contractor (perhaps without a license or required permit). I indicated that I would forward the message (by email) to the electricians (that were already on assignments for existing accounts) to see if we could take on the assignment. When he asked why no one returned his call after 2 days, it was advised that our phone system was out for (2) days. This is a fact that can be verified with a copy of the service repair invoice (dated July 26, 2011) for a new phone system processor installation. No emails or phone calls were sent through the phone system to review. It was not explained (as Cape Home Owner describes) that the job was ""NOT WANTED"", but rather, ""WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE ON THIS ASSIGNMENT DUE TO OTHER PRE-SCHEDULED COMMITMENTS"", since he wanted immediate attention. For the record, this individual did not have an account with our company. Dyer Electrical Company has been in continuous operation for over 100 years and has served 1000's of Cape Cod customers with a multitude of electrical issues, many of which are not taken on by other companies. It's staff work extremely hard to satisfy its customers. When issues arise, we welcome the opportunity to resolve them to a satisfaction to all parties involved. We look forward to assisting your electrical requests and are happy to assist whenever possible. more

Worse than BAD service=No service! 7/20/2011

I called Dyer for a small rewiring job. They said an electrician would call me later in the day to schedule. Two days later I called them back to ask why I hadn't received the call. I was told, quite rudely I must add, that they didn't want the job. When asked why, there was silence on the phone. When I further queried why I wasn't at least given the courtesy of a phone call, I was given a lame excuse that all their phones were down. Even their cells phones apparently. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. BTW: I called AMes Electric in Cotuit and they came the next day and did a fair and professional job as quoted. REBUTTAL: Here are the true facts. The job was to replace a pool timer, not pump. I suspected it may have not been wired correctly originally although it was fully inpected by the town's inspector. Although we didn't own the house when it was built, I'm quite confident all permits were in place and work done by licensed contractors, in spite of Dyer's snarky comment otherwise. It turns out both the pump and the timer could be wired as either 110 or 220 so it had been wired correctly originally. I was told they didn't want the job, period, only after I called them back. I was not given a courtesy of a call. 1) Did the phones magically start working when I called them back? 2) No cell phones? I never demanded immediate attention as I was living with the broken timer for over a month. I was merely calling to find out when they could make a service call. I do not have an account, that is true. Clearly if you have no account, you should go elsewhere. I was quite happy with Ames Electric in Cotuit. Try them. Or Bayside. Or just about anyone else.100 years of service apparently means they can pick and choose what jobs they do and should not be an excuse to ignore the basics of good customer service. What a suprise that they rate themselves 5 stars. Helps bring that average up I guess. more
