Best

I can always find the parts I'm looking for. Very helpful staff.

Worst

Durst? Are you kidding me?! Never again! Pros: clean, well-lit, close to campus Cons: rude, incompetent, unhelpful staff; way overpriced; no returns

Great for all cycling needs 3/17/2011

I had some minor repairs needed on my bicycle and visited Durst Cycle. They were helpful in determining what repairs were needed and gave an estimate. The work was good and the turnaround time was better than the staff estimated. I would recommend this store for your cycling needs. more

Caring, friendly and helpful 3/16/2011

The staff at Durst Cycle set me up with a new road bike for a triathlon. They were very friendly, helpful and really cared about getting me the right bike. They also set me up the equipment and spent all the time needed showing me everything. more

Great selection 3/10/2011

Durst's University Avenue shop (near the U of I campus) carries a full line of road and "mountain" bikes (hey - the closest mountain to this place is several hundred miles). You'll find some good quality bikes at the low end and you can also put together a custom setup for several hundred dollars. more

what a pathetic joke! 9/27/2009

Bike Shop Monopoly 7/27/2008

This would by no means be the best choice to get your bike fixed, and definitely not the best place to purchase a bike. I brought my bike in here one time, and watched a mechanic blow a hole in my tire changing a spoke, and then he charged me for it saying something like "these things sometimes happen." He screwed a spoke nipple the wrong direction, and blew up the tube! Either learn how to fix a bike yourself or do anything you can to find a more honest shop. These guys have a monopoly so they can do anything they want once you hand your bike and credit card over to them.\r \r Also, if you don't know anything about bikes do some research! This shop's top selling bike is a relatively new, cheap, poorly manufactured, but good selling bike. They will make all of their bikes sound better than they really are, and with this one in particular, its like taking candy from a baby. Again, just do some research before buying ANYTHING from them. Most of their prices are too high, and they will say more

One of the best choices in town 7/26/2005

You'll find some good quality bikes at the low end and you can also put together a custom setup for several hundred dollars. They have almost anything that a cyclist might need in their stock, from shoes to jerseys to helmets. If it's not in stock, they'll order it. You may have difficulty in getting helped, but that seems to be the norm in C-U. Prices are generally fair, but you can get good deals at their annual tent sale in the Spring. They also carry a full line of exercise equipment such as treadmills, steppers, and ellipticals. Much better than the Durst on S. Mattis, and usually easier to get waited on than at Champaign Cycles. more
