Decent Gym 10/30/2008

After reading a couple of the reviews on here I thought it was time for me to write one. I've been a member of this club for about two years and have never had any problems. Sure, the pool didn't look the way it was supposed to for the longest time but that has been fixed. And whether or not you see an employee working there might just depend on the time you come in. Just like them knowing my name probably has something to do with the way that I approach them. Pros: prices, staff Cons: closed 10 pm-5 am more

THIEVES!!! 10/7/2008

Has turned into the ABSOLUTE worst place ever. Been a member since it opened and have only been coming back because it's close to home and I have built relationships with other members. It comes to no surprise that they are nothing but thieves and could care less about you. Far cry from how it was when I first joined. I feel really bad for the people who continue to work out there because I bet it does more harm to your health than it does good. I have just terminated my membership after 18 years and I will be joining one of the many newer facilities close by. WHAT A SHAME...Stay very away from the Adminstrator, Liza. Pros: members Cons: rude management, anitquated equipment, and germ-infested more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS 4/11/2008

If you do any business with this location, they will not pay their invoices. They avoid phone calls, letters and allow their bills to go into collections. I have been battling this location for almost a year. Their staff is rude. They tend to ""dicsonnect"" you quite easily. The managers are conveniently never available. Stay away!!! Unless you like loosing money. Cons: Stay AWAY more

DAC is not bad. 1/25/2008

I have been a member of the DAC off and on since 1990. I go back to the days when it was privately owned and was truly a local institution. One of the best well kept secrets in SW Dallas County. Over the years it has been through many owners, some better than others. I read some of the reviews and comments on the current ownership group and my family and I have decided to give them a chance. The equipment meets the needs for a good solid workout. We had the physical therapist who treats my 20 year old son who is recovering from severe injuries due to an auto accident, come in and check out that place before we rejoined and she gave it a thumbs up. The equipment there is adequate to meet my son's needs for safety as well as to meet his physical therapy and workout plan. I'm not happy about the shape of the locker room and pool and sauna area. These used to be as pristine as any gm or club around, they are not that way now. I hope the management addresses that and I was told that they will. Time will tell. Pros: Flexible hours, Cons: Locker Rooms need improvement more

Duncanville Athletic Club 1/22/2008

It seems that everyone who has written a review about this club are a bunch of sissy-boys. The club gave me a rate of 15 dollars a month with no contract, and a bunch of equipment. Duncanville Athletic Club is not a RESORT it's a gym with cheap membership...so for everyone who goes to the gym just to look around and feel their biceps, this isn't the place, but if people wanna actually get a work-out with practically the same equipment as every other gym while paying half, then DAC is the reasonable choice. TOUGHEN UP OLD HAGS Pros: the price Cons: Equipment a little worn more

DON'T PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER!!!!!!!!! DIRTY IS NOT THE WORD! 12/28/2007

Me and my wife join the gym one year ago ,we worked out for about 3 months and decided to go to another gym.Reasons being that the place was not kept up at all,the only time you would see an employee is we they are showing a new client around the gym. Some days i go in to work out and don't see a employee from the time i walk in to the time i leave. This is a gym in witch i spend 2 - 3 hrs daily you would think you would see some one at least cleaning once in 3 months. They are always out of toilet paper and hand soap. DO NOT JOIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: NOT A CLEAN PLACE TO WORK OUT more

Warning 12/26/2007

This is a scam, beware!! They sign you up ONE MONTH and close the doors 3 MONTHS LATER. We joined the GP club in Feb 2007 and went for few times until I broke my shoulder in April. The club was old, smelly and was in need of repair, they said they were going to improve it. Equipment was broken and the roof leaked. When I went back to the GP club in August it was closed, gone. I received no notice, written or phone calls. They had moved the club to another location in Duncanville, 10 miles away but with in the 10 mile limit on the contract. I had signed a one year membership with a trainer. To cancel I had to write a letter to Affilated Acceptance Corp and pay a $300+ early termination fee. Then I had to give a 30 notice to ABC financial to stop drafting my account for the gym membership. They sent a letter stating such but now after 4 months I am receiving phone calls at home, work and on my and my wifes cell phones from Vision Finacial, a debt collecter. Seems the account I thought was settled is still open and after no communication from ABC they sent it to collections. They have called me 7 times today and its only 945am. All for $99 I did not know I owed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.. JOIN A REPUTABLE CLUB. Cons: Dirrty and Old more

Worst customer relations ever............. 9/29/2007

Duncanville Athletic Club owned a club in Desoto, TX and named it FX. A lot of people from the neighborhood joined the FX club because it was local and handy. I was an attending member for three years and on my last visit to the club in August, I found the doors locked and a 'For Sale' sign on the door. I could not contact anyone to find out what happened. There was no notification from the FX Club to its members that they were closing their doors. That next month I had a draft clear my bank for my membership dues. I stopped payment on the automatic draft. Later I got a letter from a collection company in Arkansas, the ABC Financial, billing me for the payment and late charges??? I called the collection company and found out through them that the FX was owned by the Duncanville Athletic Club. more

DO NOT JOIN! 8/16/2007

This gym is very old and the staff is not helpful. They are rude and the place smells really bad. There equipment is out of date and not even someone on steroids could get a good work out here. Its worthless like there staff and especially theyre management. Pros: empty Cons: old more

I'm glad to be out from this gym! 7/24/2007

I was a member for so long that I had garnered some friends and had known good people in that gym. At one time I was doing my reps one evening, I saw a nasty substance on the floor which to me is like a phlegm(bench press area facing north)I avoided that area and pulled out my membership the next week. This is supposed to be a health club not a viral mecca. I would occassionally hear people coughing out their lungs but, I would always consider they do the right thing disposing it in a sanitary way. Guess I was wrong! Pros: Convinient operation hours Cons: sanitation, maintenance, and management more

Beware! Beware! Beware! 6/11/2007

I must have been blind and on some mind altering substance when I signed a two year contract. Weight equipment is ancient, the hot tub gave me a rash, and since when does four walls and a tarp equate to an ""indoor"" pool! Pros: only club in duncanville Cons: everything about the club more

THIS ATHLETIC CLUB SHOULD BE CALLED CONVILLE 6/10/2007

JUST LIKE THE OTHER REVIEW THAT WAS LEFT. THE GYM WAS CLOSING DOWN AND FAILED TO LET ANY OF THE MEMBERS KNOW. THEY ARE STILL ASKING FOR AN ENCHANCEMENT FEE EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT OPEN. THEY ARE THEIVES . DOES NOT HAVE A CORPRATE OFFICE . I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS GYM TO ANYONE!!!! Hazzard to anyones health i think we should take them to channel 4,5,8 and 11 or even SAUL GARZA Pros: the members were great Cons: bad management more

Don't sign a contract 6/9/2007

Be careful when you sign a contract!!!. In the past, the DAC had been affiliated with an Irving gym and Grand Prairie Fitness. Knowing that they were going to lock the doors and close the gym down, members were not informed. Some signed up for 2 year contracts the same week of the shut down. If they did this in Irving and in Grand Prairie, they can do it in Duncanville. Don't sign a contract unless you really know what you are getting into--especially when a business engages in unethical business practices. Pros: Members were great Cons: Owners were unethical more
