I wish I had come online and read this review because right now at present I have hired Larry Carr to do work for me and EVERYTHING that ""MandieJ"" has stated in the review is happening to me right now. I now realize the signs I was picking up was true. I did ask for references and he stated his work speaks for himself instead of giving me references he showed me pictures. My first mistake. He lies and says one thing then lies and says he did not say it. I have paid him most of his money and he still has not completed the work. He was suppose to come by today and I had to call him to see where he was and he stated he was sick. He has also yelled and raised his voice with me and threatened to call his lawyer, and put a lien against my home too. Which I knew he was lying there too because it takes money to do that and he was about to pay for a lawyer and court fees for a lien. At present he still has work to complete on my home so I will see if it gets done. I am so disappointed in ServiceMagic because as much as I am no the internet the only reason I did not do a search on DryWall Masters is because I too believed that Servicemagic had done what they said they had done which is to research these contractors and make sure they were okay. It is so sad that Larry Carr feels he has to cheat people to get money. Just like the other reviewer we both were ready to pay him for the work but Larry does not have his act together. He is very unprofessional and he lies. He is not the person you want in your home doing any work. more

Drywall Masters, who is a “one-man team” according to a person named Mr. Larry, is very unprofessional and rude. From the start he’ll convince you how good he is at what he does through his many years of experience, and promises to “take care of you” on the job. Being that Service Magic supposedly prescreens, and passes some sort of ten point screening process, which promises the contractor carries the necessary licenses and is rated on their website as 4 star out of 5, we did not do any research on Drywall Masters which is Larry Carr. This was a big mistake on our part and shame on Service Magic for recommending him. Larry Carr does not provide any contract even when asked because he is a scammer by telling you what he is going to do and changes it as the job proceeds. He only did about 1/2 of the job, which was only supposed to take two days and ended up taking 9 days due to his laziness and not showing up. He was late everyday by about an hour or so and only worked for about 2 hours and talked on the phone and rested for the other 2 hours he was here. He destroyed our belongings, and flooring because he did not worry about covering them when dry walling. When confronted about his poor workmanship he try’s to belittle you and tell you he has been in the business for longer than you have been alive. He yelled at me, and my wife in our own home while threatening us numerous times to pay him or he would take us to court or put a lean against our home. Convenient for us and perfectly orchestrated by him he never provided us with a contract. Long story short we paid him just so he would get out of our house and to prevent a psycho from one day attacking my family or my home. Since then I’ve spent 20 hours trying to fix his work and still have about another 10 hours just to finish what he said he would do. Mind you he only spent maybe 5 hours of actual work. Don’t trust Service Magic’s promise of doing the research for you, do it yourself, it will save you in the long run. Always get a contract specifying exact details of the work especially from Drywall Masters (Larry Carr). In fact run when you here this name! Look at the reviews on this website and outside of this one. You’ll be shocked by the close relevance between my story and others.
