I was a tenant with DRW for over a year. They are rude, never fix anything.\r Dave is extremely rude with tenants.he hollers for nothing, and refuses to take care of roach problems....

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/1/2013

Using DRW has been a nightmare. I am an apartment owner, and contracted DRW Management without reading any reviews about them. Big mistake.\r \r DRW did not keep in contact with us regarding people coming to see the apartment or people who applied. Their policy is to only contact the owner if they have someone moving in. As an owner, it is good to know how many people are looking and get feedback from those people.\r \r When I found out someone had applied that I knew, I contacted them and asked them for a list of applicants. They said they do not keep names of people to whom they show the apartment. They did not say they did not keep information of people who applied but were not approved, but those names were not available, either.\r \r I was advised of the new tenant's move-in date, but unknown to us, they had the tenant move in early. We had scheduled to have both units sprayed for pests while both units were empty. Since they did not tell us they had changed the move-in date, we had some major wrangling to do. When I called the office, Diana (the owner) was incredibly rude (huffing, puffing, sighing, and ultimately hanging up on me) and said it was our fault for not letting her know that we were spraying the apartments. I am not quite sure why I would tell her this, since they already confirmed the 5th -- three times.\r \r I called back and talked to Tammy. I must say, she was very nice and helpful. She told me I should have gotten a confirmation letter from DRW to let us know the move-in date of the tenant, which we did not. She apologized for the mix-up. While I was on the phone with Tammy, the tenants showed up, so I had to go. Tammy understood, and said if I needed any help with the situation to call her back and she will help me out.\r \r I went out to meet the tenant, and Diana was on the phone with the tenant. Since the tenant saw me coming, he told Diana he would talk to her later. The first words out of his mouth was that DRW messed up. His story was right in line with all of mine.\r \r The tenant and I worked things out on our own, but that does not change how DRW handled this entire processes, including the owner hanging up on me...which I see from other reviews is a normal business practice. more

This is a horrible property management company. They do not respond to trouble calls and lack ethos. Diana will say that the repairs are in the works and nothing is down. If you question them, they will refuse to answer or be held accountable. It took legal action to break the lease and still have yet to check out mold and left dead rodents for months. I would advise to never do business with DRW, as they only care about the money. They are quick to ignore the law for their own benefit. They do not understand the meaning of customer service and should not be allowed to operate as a property management. more

14 years of great service 5/26/2010

Since 1996 DRW has managed our property in Chula Vista. So my review is as a property owner of a condo, not as a renter. So here's the story. Every month I get a statement in the mail and in January I always get copies of all the accounts paid and a summary of all yearly activity. I also get a monthly emai alerting me when a deposit has been made to my account. I recommend staying one month ahead of your mortgage payment so that when they make the deposit at the beginning of the month, you hold on to it for your mortgage payment the next month. Even my accountant complimented their excellent end of the year statements. Most of all I know that DRW won't bug me with little things but they always call if there is a larger decision to be made. They are there in a moments notice for us and for our tenants. My husband is in the military and we have moved every 2 years. Once when the hot water heater broke in the garage I was living in Hawaii. DRW called me and handled everything. They even took pictures of the damage in the garage and cooperated with my insurance company. When you are thousands of miles away it is nice to know that DRW is handling everything and they don't waste time. We have had many tenant scenarios over the years. For the first several years the property turned over every year. Now we have had the same tenant for over 5 years. WE HAVE ONLY HAD THE PROPERTY EMPTY FOR ONE MONTH IN 14 YEARS. Each time a tenant gave notice I was worried if the condo would sit empty. DRW fixed up, advertised, and got the condo rented every time. One time we had a tenant who didn't pay the rent for 2 months. DRW literally put a lock box on the door and even had one of their guys go over and physically moved some things out to get the new tenant in the next week. They can get the place fixed and turned over in less than a week. All the other tenants we've had have paid on time and I have total confidence with the company. After 14 years I feel like DRW is family. The small amount of money that we pay this company each month pays us back by leaps and bounds. We are now stationed in San Diego and we still have DRW and if we move again we will have them manage our house here in San Diego without a second thought! DRW is my peace of mind! Pros: Professionalism and dedication, great family business more

Company Response 4/27/2010

It is unfortunate that the only review showing on this search is from a disgruntled tenant. DRW Services Group has been in business 30+ years and we constantly work with military families. Our owners live around the globe and have found us to be professional, ethical and business like. Our approach to tenants is strictly by the book and on occassion we come to cross purposes. However, we are always willing to work to a mutually satisfying conclusion. Please check our web site for the real scoop and don't believe everything you read here. Pros: Highly Ethical, willing to work hard for you more

Very disappointed with their demeanor 3/2/2010

Mr. Wilson became irate with my wife and I when questioned why they were advertising the rental were in and we hadn't received notice to vacate...when confronted he was hostile and hung up on my wife and I. We are contacting the owners reagrding this.. i wouldn't trust him.... Pros: None Cons: Owner - Dave Wilson was hostile more

Beware of this company 11/17/2009

After 21 years of military service and living all over the world never have I had a worst experience with a property management company as I did with DRW. They were slow to respond to problems , if at all, with our rental property and when finally cornered they were less than helpful and always hostile. Be very careful if dealing with this organization. They are far from professional when it comes to customer service. Pros: Local so you can drive down when they don't return your call Cons: Slow to act and hostile when they do. more
