Best

We went on a Saturday night without reservations, recommend making reservations. Our party of four spent a few moments at the bar, it was lively and we didn't mind. Once we were s...

Worst

A very appealing exterior in a hipster redoubt, a tastefully decorated interior, excellent meat and fish entrees, okay desserts, ample if overpriced (blame the euro?) wine list......

Food is wonderful; service still lacking 3/5/2007

My boyfriend and I are foodies, live in the neighborhood, and ate at Dressler last week (our 5th time). The food is wonderful, the wine list is solid, and the front door staff and bartenders could not be better. The wines by the glass are a little pricey but worth every dime. The wait staff, however, could still use a lesson or two and should be a lot more attentive. I recommend that the wait staff walk over to Baci & Abbracci on Grand Street and learn the meaning of excellent service. We would go to Dressler more often if the service matched the cuisine. Pros: Awesome food and atmosphere Cons: Inattentive waiters more

a perfect meal 2/8/2007

went here last night with my parents for my bday...i've been to the other dumont places many times so dressler was high on my list of places to check out. from the friendly and attentive staff to the decor the place was great. but who cares what the place looks like if the food sucks....def not the case here. my mom ordered the butternut squash ravioli, my dad order the pork chop, and i had the monk loin. all 3 of us cleared our plates and were fully satisfied. my dad actually said ""this might be the best pork chop i've ever had."" thats a hard thing to accomplish b/c i'm sure my dad has eaten a lot of pork chops in his life. the desert was the apple tart with rum raisin ice cream....holy moly it was good. all in all the meal was pretty close to perfect. the only downfall was the cold rush of air anytime the door opened....they had a curtain to try and block the cold, but it was 15 degrees out so the curtain didnt do such a great job. go here, you will not be disapointed. Pros: decor, food, service more

What the Burg Needs 10/25/2006

For the person who hated this place and gave it an average review, I'm not sure how that can be: either you a) caught them on opening night, still working out the kinks; b) spend your time at the highest-rated restaurants in the world; c) work for a rival establishment. I'm betting on ""C"". more

Wow, Dressler Does Brunch!!! 9/30/2006

I was walking by Dressler and noticed it was open, on a Sunday morning...finally a new nice place in the neighborhood for sunday brunch. The prices seem good, and food great as usual. I am a fan of Dressler, I have been in Williamsburg for almost 10 years now, and it is one of my new favorite spots. I can't wait to go back with friends for mimosa's, eggs, french toast and quiche! Thanks Dressler, for the beautiful and yummy place to grab brunch on Sunday mornings. Pros: Great food, beautiful and fun interiors and great price! Cons: Wish I had known it was serving Brunch sooner more

My new favorite spot in Williamsburg 8/14/2006

By far, the best food and ambiance in Williamsburg. The food and service of this place is definitely comparable to any highly ranking restaurant in Manhattan, and the prices are decent ofr the value of the food. Will go back again and again! Pros: Romantic, excellent service, promptly seated with reservation more

My new favorite! 6/25/2006

I was here for dinner this past weekend and I have to say it was one of the best restaraunts I've EVER been to. I am a total foodie, having been to most of the 4 and 5 star places in manhattan. Food at Dressler was so delicious and fresh. I had halibut which was crisped to perfection above a salad of heirloom tomatoes and green and white beans. Superb. Cocktails were also great and the peanut butter parfait dessert is not to be missed. The artichoke salad was also excellent, though it had a suspiciously 'cheeto'-like after taste... other than that, I have a new favorite restaurant! Pros: Excellent food, attentive service, great ambience Cons: a bit pricey, williamsburg can be inconvenient to travel to more

Great Food 6/6/2006

I've eaten here 4 times and its been great every time. No bread problems, the service is always very friendly and the food is amazing (especially for the price). My one comment would be the wine price per glass, which is high, but the bottle prices arent bad. One of the top 5 restaurants in Brooklyn. Pros: food, space is amazing, street parking more

pretty, sexy, and delicious 5/10/2006

I didn't really know what to expect from the the Dressler. i have been going to Dumont for years, and i am a huge fan of the good food and relaxed atmosphere. So when i walked in i was just blown away by the lighting, flowers, wood and iron work, a reservationist, and a full bar. it's gorgeous. Taking everything good about Dumont, & making it better and a touch more upscale. Pros: beutiful decor, new, beautiful crowd more

JUST ANOTHER GREAT BROOKLYN SPOT 5/1/2006

Other than the bread, which was stale (the manager told us they were having trouble with the bakery), we were thoroughly impressed. We especially like the crispy artichoke and white bean salad (you will think the artichoke are fried potatoes). The free form ravioli was inventive, the sauce being the best part. Wine is good but a bit pricey for Brooklyn. They seem to be banking on the fact that there will be some overflow from Peter Luger'sand I fear they may be right. Eat here before all the Manhattanites discover it. more

Editorial
  • Dressler's interior is Gothic chic, with wrought iron-lined light boxes and a dazzling palazzo tiled floor. The restaurant, bolstered by critical praise (including a Michelin star), draws a heavy influx of curious Manhattanites and local foodies alike. With attentive service and a diverse menu that stars seasonal greenmarket vegetables at their finest, it's easy to understand why. Dishes include various seafood options--like diver scallops served with ground grits and bacon-wrapped monkfish--plus more traditional fare like roasted free-range chicken with Swiss chard and braised short ribs. Unfortunately, the relatively high prices, at least by Brooklyn standards, make Dressler more of special occasion place than a go-to spot.
