I am an actress and solo performer in NYC. I am writing this review because Dr. David Shafer has changed my life -- and now I want EVERYONE who is contemplating plastic surgery TO THEIR FACE to know that Dr. Shafer is the doctor to trust. Firstly, as a surgeon, this man is a miracle worker, as he combines supreme surgical expertise with exquisite artistry. This, I'm sure, is the main reason why he is rated as the TOP in his field. But also, Dr. Shafer listens. He will sit and hear your concerns. He is extremely unusual in this way, as it is clear by spending time with him that he is one of the most open-hearted and empathic human beings you will ever meet. And these character traits are evident, as well, in his entire staff. His coordinator Eileen is gifted at making you feel at ease and anxiety free -- and her kindness is palpable. I have suffered for several years with a double chin. No matter how thin I was, I couldn't get rid of it. This PLAGUED me while onstage, and finally I confided to my friend who was in show business that I needed to find a surgeon, and her face lit up and she screamed, ""Dr. Shafer! He's the best in the business and all of my actress friends and model friends go to him!"" I remember thinking that her reaction was quite over-the-top and theatrical. AND NOW...I GET IT COMPLETELY. I HAVE BECOME THAT WOMAN, SHOUTING THIS MAN'S NAME FROM THE ROOFTOPS! Dr. Shafer performed liposuction on my neck/chin/jawline and for the first time in ten years, I feel NO SHAME about my appearance. And people are telling me I look ten years younger. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Shafer! I turned to him for a breast reconstructive surgery, which included a breast augmentation and mastopexy two years ago after being introduced to him by Beauty Broker, Melinda Farina. . Prior to meeting Dr. Shafer, I had a severe case of asymmetric breasts and had traveled to Colombia for corrective plastic surgery, performed by another surgeon. The results were no less than gruesome. After two months of being back in the states, it was more than evident I was left with mutilated my breasts. \r \r The implant in my left breast began sliding down, out of place towards my rib cage. My left nipple was repositioned at an abnormal height. My breast also began to hardened into a square mold and caused indentations/air pockets down my cleavage. I lost sensitivity in the outer/lower region of my left breast and often felt pain surrounding the muscle region. On the right side, my breast had settled into an unnatural balloon like form, while my nipple was left off-centered. After consulting Dr. Shafer, I discovered furthermore damage had been done including incorrect positioning and sizing of implants to the botching of my chest muscle. I was physically and emotionally shattered. \r \r Dr. Shafer accomplished what I thought to be the impossible. I now have close to proportional breasts/nipples that not only look amazing, but also feel as natural as could be! I have regained some sensitivity back in my left breast and general scarring has faded away nicely over time. I have shared the results with those whom are close to me and have gotten very positive feedback! \r \r Dr. Shafer is truly a brilliant plastic surgeon. He is a doctor with a heart of gold, who genuinely cares and listens to your concerns. Additionally, I commend Dr. Shafer’s amicable staff. Elaine, his assistant, was especially kindhearted and made sure to follow up with me every step of the way. \r Most importantly, Dr. Shafer produces positive results and is fully equip with the latest innovative technology to meet your goals. \r \r Please excuse the lengthiness of my review. I was turning 60 and was looking for a more refreshed look.....gravity was taking its course....I was referred to doctor shafer by another m.d. and was immediately impressed with his honesty and forthrightness in discussing what I could realistically expect from certain procedures.....I decided on a face, neck and eye lift....there were no questions I couldn't ask and felt confident going in to the surgery in a non hospital environment which added to the positive experience that was to come....after the surgery I went home and believe it or not...dr shafer came to check on me the following day. and the aftercare continued for months....dr shafer is an amazingly skilled surgeon and in my opinion a great person. I am so thrilled with my results and people are shocked when I tell them my age.....I truly believe dr. shafer will be very famous in the near future. more

I recently had laser lipo on my neck/chin/jawline and am extremely pleased with the results. No matter how thin I was, I always had a double chin and it's finally gone! The procedure was short, relatively pain free, the bruising was minimal AND the results were immediate! Dr. Shafer was very easy to talk and provided me with the most minimally invasive procedure to address my concerns and achieve my personal goals. His office is impeccable and his staff very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Shafer was also very attentive and after the surgery called to check in and answer any questions/concerns. I had the procedure on friday and was out shopping on sunday! I am less than three weeks out and continue to see more improvements in my appearance as the swelling goes down and the scar tissue softens. Overall great experience and would definitely recommend Dr. Shafer! more

I was interested in getting both upper and lower lid work done because my eyes were looking very tired, saggy and puffy and made me look sad. I visited 3 doctors before choosing Dr. Shafer so you know I put much research into the procedure. First of all his demeanor is flawless. He is a friendly, personable, surgeon who speaks in a down to earth manner. He went over all the aspects of the surgery in detail, he was honest about what he though I did and did not need and what to expect. He asked me a lot of questions ?rare these days! He didn't rush me and was genuinely interested in my concerns and achieving the results I was looking for. more

I hit 50 and began to see my mother's face. Got a mini lift (also called chin lift) and could not be happier! Dr Shafer is amazing. Talented, honest, good bedside manner, always available for follow up calls and questions (sometimes he even answers his own phone!), and never once tried to upsell me on any other procedures, which I find to be very rare. Loved his office staff too! more

He is going to be famous one day! 4/13/2012

I am no stranger when it comes to work of Plastic Surgery and the world of Anesthesia. I started getting work done at a very young age and I am 31 now and finally feel like more like myself than I have felt in years. I am also a perfectionist so I would go to Dr's that people looked up to as some of Americas Top Plastic Surgeons and for some reason things always went wrong for me. I was over injected with fat in areas of my face that made me look like I had hollow eyes and the biggest cheeks in the world. I would run from cameras because I couldn't recognize myself anymore. I also had no luck in the breast implant department either; I had some rippling in one implant and one breast was higher than the other. I would have given anything to turn back time but lets face it that was not going to happen so instead I called in for a new line of credit and set out to regain my confidence. I met Dr. Shafer after numerous other consults and I immediately felt incredibly comfortable with him. He saw what others said I should just leave alone or said that they couldn't fix because it would make it worse. We did some facial liposuction to areas of my face that made me look like a chipmunk and he filled in some hollow areas of my face with some new fat grafts to smooth out the irregularities and contours; and for my breasts he used a material called strattice to help with the rippling and we put in some new implants and they are perfect. Everything that he did came out great and I am really lucky to have found him. This is my first time ever writing a review but I felt compelled to let the world know what a wonderful Dr. he is. xoxo AD more

Wow my arms look great! 4/19/2011

Last fall, my coworker revealed to me that she had arm liposuction with Dr. Shafer. I was wondering if she had had a procedure since she looked as if she had been working out and adding definition to her arms, but I know she does not work out very much. I went in for the same procedure and I am so happy! The procedure took about 2 hours and I went home the same day. I had the liposuction about three weeks ago and I can already see great results. I brought my other friend in with me to my follow up appointment and she really wants to have arm liposuction and her muffin top done at the same time. I really could not be happier. more

Highest Recommendation for Dr. Shafer 3/5/2011

I think I got what you call a pre-wedding make-over by Dr. Shafer. I am late 30 year old bride and really want to look as fresh as a daisy. I thought about implants but Dr. Shafer said a breast lift and some contouring around my middle would be ideal. He is smart. He really listens and then makes suggestions. Also, he is a GREAT guy. Very easy to talk to and he actually spends time with you instead of shoving you aside like I experienced other places. I look awesome and renewed - I can't think of better words - but still like me! Only more hour- glass and I have abs now thanks to Dr. Shafer. It sounds corny but I love by chest now and I look so much better even under clothes too. My fiance was scared about the surgery but he is oh so happy now. My mom is now getting her eyes done with Dr. Shafer. I could not be happier with Dr. Shafer's skills. I took my mom to his office so I guess that says it all. Thank you Dr. Shafer for everything!! more

My New Cheeks 2/21/2011

As I have aged, my cheek bones are less prominent and visibly look older. I saw several doctors and consultations that only suggested surgery for cheek implants. When I saw Dr. Shafer, he offered me Juvederm injections on the cheekbones to help fill the missing volume. We did the treatment on that visit. He just needs a few shots, but it made a big difference right away. I recommended Dr. Shafer to my friend and my two sisters already. He is excellent! more

OMG I love my results. I had breast implants several years ago in France and was never happy with the results. When I moved to NYC, I was referred to Dr. Shafer. He suggested replacement of the implants and a breast lift. I was initially nervous about the lift incisions, the results are great. I just wish I did not wait so long. more

Beautiful breasts by Dr. Shafer 12/2/2010

Dr Shafer replaced my implants. We talked through all sorts of option. I didn't feel rushed or prodded like in other offices. I also felt comfortable which was a big deal because my other results were really disappointing and I hated taking my shirt off. My breasts now look so beautiful, natural, youthful - and like I was born with them. It has really improved my self esteem. He is a very talented surgeon. My sister-in-law had a breast lift and belly tuck - she looks amazing. He is our beauty secret - I would not consider doing anything to yourself without seeing him first. more

Incredible results, amazing experience with Dr. Shafer 12/2/2010

Dr. Shafer is heaven sent. Such a nice person and the most talented surgeon in NYC. I started seeing him for Botox a few years ago when I was still under 40 years old. He did the best job - just the right amount that people think I have great genes and am not using Botox ha! I never imagined doing 'real surgery' but I saw some of his before and afters and I thought - hey, I deserve it. Recently I did a body lipo - I was thinking just belly and thighs but Dr Shafer suggested a little bit from here and there instead so it would look natural and uniform. Now my inner thighs look so slim, no muffin top, rolls on my back etc. I look great in skinny jeans and do not look my age. I could not recommend Dr Shafer more sincerely. The whole experience from start to finish was wonderful. He takes things slow and errs on the side of less is more. He is a class act and brilliant. A+++ more

I love my Botox 11/27/2010

Dr. Shafer is one of the few plastic surgeons that injects the Botox himself. I had previously gone to other plastic surgeons and dermatologists and they had physician assistants or nurses injecting their Botox. Dr. Shafer really seems to treat his injections as an art and takes extra time to make sure that I am very happy. I have never had any problems with his injections and the best part is that everyone thinks that I just have naturally smooth skin. I highly recommend Dr. Shafer. more

A miracle worker. Very helpful to a cowardly older woman... 11/17/2010

I must say that I was leery about any type of plastic surgery, but after I found myself back out in the ""dating"" world again at close to 70 I wanted to see if there was something that could be done that would be natural looking - after all, I'm a grandmother and certainly would not want to look like a teenager again. I just wanted to see if some of the sun damage that I had inflicted upon myself in my youth could be mitigated somewhat. Dr. Shafer took the time to walk me through a step-by-step plan that would work for me. It was just what I was looking for! Now my friends ask things like, ""what's so different about you, you look so vibrant."" I didn't want to look 40 again, but it's awfully nice not to look 70 either...Thanks again, Dr. S! more

I've got my curves back !!! 11/16/2010

I went to Dr. Shafer last year for a tummy tuck and liposuction. It is the best decision that I have every made. After having two kids my belly just was not what it used to be. No matter how much I worked out, my belly still looked flabby. During the procedure, Dr. Shafer was able to tighten my muscles and remove the extra skin and stretch marks. He also did some liposuction on my thighs and arms at the same time. I truly feel like a new person. I recently went to a wedding and was able to put on a dress that I had not worn in years. I really would recommend Dr. Shafer to anyone considering having surgery. My sister is scheduled to have her tummy tuck after the new year and she can't wait. more
