Worst

This week I was in the office for our dog to see the vet, I must say that Merrick has really gone down hill,the place is filthy, whom ever is supposed to be cleaning the exam room...

The best vet we've ever taken our animals to. I am so happy we found this place! The vets are very knowledgeable, caring, and friendly. Their prices are very reasonable and they don't try to talk you into unnecessary testing like VCA Animal Hospital. We've been going there for over 3 years and would never ever change. more

worth the wait???? 6/9/2008

After reading the other reviews I moved my dogs over to Merrick from Boone in Western Springs. One reason was the prices they quoted on the phone and the other was a reputation I had heard about.... Big Mistake. If you like to spend time on hold or calling again and again to get a hold of someone, then have at it; but I feel my time is valuable. Prices quoted on phone were drastically different than after appointments. If you dog hurts him self, I hope you have a week or so to wait till your vet can see him/her, otherwise head over to the emergency room and pay those extra fee's. Very disappointed.... and am back paying a little more for doctors that care. more

Humane care for your pet 4/4/2008

We moved to the Lagrange Park area in 1993. We took our Boxer to Merrick Animal Clinic because "Louie" developed severs allergies. The staff treated us with kindness and were extremely professional. More importantly, Dr. Kasper examined the troubled areas and prescribed medication to control the allergy.We continued to bring our dog to Merrick for annual shots and to treat "growths" which Boxers are prone to develop.The staff and Dr. Kasper always had time to hug the dog and treat him like he was one of Merrick's family. We moved to Naperville from Lagrange Park in March 2007. We bought "tuxedo" our third Boxer. Tuxedo developed a severe corneal infection. We brought Tux to a clinic close to the new home. We purchased all the "required" medicine but after a week , we saw no improvement. My wife and I made an appointment with Merrick - the staff recognized the severity and immediately we had an appointment for that day. It may not be pretty, but they're very good! 2/1/2008

We moved to Brookfield a year ago and the first thing our neighbors noticed was our 90 lb black lab trying to great everyone and her little sister close behind. And every pet owner on my block recommended Merrick Animal hospital.\r \r So, I called to make an appointment for the yearly physicals and at first couldn't get in. Some people might see this as a negative, but I thought to myself if these vets are so popular that its tough to get in, they must be doing something right... and they are.\r \r They may not have the most beautiful decor in the world, but their offices are clean, their prices are more than fair, and their staff (especially Dr, Bosse) are friendly and professional.\r \r They also assisted me without question or attitude in getting heartworm meds from a mail-order company.\r \r This is the friendly, neighborhood vet everyone should be going to (just make sure I still get my appointment OK). more

Never Judge a Vet by its Suburb 12/13/2007

Merrick Animal Hospital in Brookfield is one of those refreshing care providers that doesn't get caught up with "Image" (which equates, of course, to pricing, too). When I moved to a more affluent suburb, I elected to return to Merrick because of the gentle care the doctors (Dr. Kasper) always gives my Shepard. I have never been let down. And, when my other 6-m.o.puppy died suddenly early one morning, they opened their doors for me to lay him down and say my goodbyes. While it was a very painful & emotional experience, Merrick handled this sudden door-pounding with support and empathy. I would stack this hospital up against any others in the surrounding areas of La Grange, Western Springs & Hinsdale because of the quality, the unpretentiousness, and genuine friendliness of the staff. An example of the pricing? Dental cleaning in the affluent 'burbs-- $300 including anesthesia. Merrick charges $154 for same. more

BEST OF THE BEST! 9/25/2007

I could tell you all the good things about this clinic in an endless list, but I will just share my little story. My dog was diagnosed to die in a matter of hours, some one recommended us Merrick Animal Hospital and that was our last chance. We went there and they saved her!, the prices are very reasonable, but the best is their customer service and the great doctors they have!, I would recommend this clinic to everyone who really loves his/her pet. They are professionals, but also, they are humans who love animals!. Great staff, great doctors, great environment and good humanitary care. more
