Doug's Brea Auto Electric

Fixed the short in my tail lights circuit for a decent price. I just believe that whoever he had working on my car accidentally touched something electrical which caused me to have transmission problems as soon as I drove it from the lot. The car wouldn't start in first gear!!! They suggested that I take it back to whoever I had working on my transmission 1.5 years ago even though the problem didn't happen UNTIL I PICKED IT UP FROM THEM. I ended up taking my car to a transmission shop who charged me a lower diagnostic fee of $95 rather than the $130 that Brea Auto Electric charges. This wasn't even an ""electric shop"" but the guy found a burned ""transmission"" fuse in the same fuse box that brea electric had changed out a fuse and no hardwear damage luckily from me driving it 5 miles starting in 2nd gear to the tranmission shop. The transmission works again but now I'm out $95 more than planned. Mike was upset AT ME and had no problem denying me the extra $95 I had to pay to have the iatrogenic electrical problem fixed by the transmission guys. I feel like they are capable of ""good business"" but not quite there yet. I understand things happen in a shop sometimes, but be man enough to admit it and take care of your customers if you want them to come back. Honesty is important. more

I have used Doug’s Brea Auto Electric for several years and have never had an issue. They have been very honest in my interactions with me and have taken follow up issues without an issue. more

I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about, but I can't say enough about Brea Auto Electric. Three years ago, my daughter's car broke down in Pasadena and it was towed to one of those chain auto places. Turns out it was a bad alternator. Since we live in the SF Bay Area (she's going away to school) I was very concerned about my 18 year old daughter. To make a long story short, we ended up taking the car to Mike at Brea and got nothing but excellent service. I felt like they treated my daughter like their daughter and they were great about picking her up and taking her back to her dorm as required. We had other work done there when her car got hit by another car and again experienced great service. So, three years later the alternator went out again. I thought that was short for an alternator and called Mike. He agreed that it was and said he would take care of the problem for a minimal cost. He did not have to do this as it very likely wasn't the alternator, but a different problem with the car. But, he said ""It was the right thing to do"". In any case, I had the car towed to Brea. They took the alternator apart and discovered that it was only a bad brush. They replaced that and it was even less than what he had originally told me! I'm always suspicious of car places, and he could have easily told me more money and I would have still been happy, but he didn't. I found that these guys are very trust worthy and a class act. If I lived in LA, I would drive miles to take me car to Brea Auto Electric. more

It wont be long before these guys go to jail. They are con artists and theifs. Only come here if you need an excuse to commit insurance fraud. They will steal your parts, screw you on labor and charge you for stuff they never did. I am never bringing my car there ever again and I am telling everyone I know in brea to stay away. Crooks!!!! that's all they are. more
