Worst. Experience. EVER. 4/26/2012

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. This was the most horrendous, awful experience I've ever had in a store and I worked in retail! I realized the bolt on my handlebar stem was stripped and I could no longer tighten it using an Allen wrench. I went in (without my bike) to ask what my options were. The guy with a ponytail was curt and bordering rude, but explained that he wouldn't be able to swap one in, but that I'd need to bring my bike in so he could pop out the wedge and put a new bolt and wedge in. I was satisfied with that, as I didn't want to replace the whole stem so I brought it in. I dropped my bike off a couple days later, explained once again that the bolt was stripped and I wanted to replace the bolt. My handlebars were loose (because the bolt can't be tightened and because it's easier to get my bike in the car when I can move them). He said no problem, he'd take care of it and it should be ready tomorrow. I came to pick up my bike and my bike was sitting in front of the store WITH THE SAME BOLT TIGHTENED INTO MY HANDLEBARS. I pointed out that this was the same bolt and he said ""I didn't charge you for parts"". WHAT??!?!!!? You charged me $18 to tighten my handlebars with the same faulty/stripped bolt that I paid to have replaced! WHAT. THE. HECK. I pointed this out (trying to remain calm, when I really wanted to cut that STUPID ponytail off and hit him with him) and he said, and I quote ""too bad"". After a bit of arguing and a bit of telling him exactly what I thought of him (telling, yelling- same thing, right?) I had no choice but to leave- completely ripped off and charged for literally nothing. This guy is a total jerk, a scam artist and an all around horrible person. Take your money and business elsewhere. I honestly have no idea how he stays in business. I wanted to support local business and give this guy the benefit of the doubt. Turns out, he doesn't deserve it. Worst experience I've ever had in a retail store. Lesson learned. more

Rude and insulting customer service 2/27/2012

I found this place in the dealer listing from Schwinn's website. I wish that I had never gone. The place was empty and an older gentleman with a ponytail asked what I was looking for. I told him I was looking for an urban style bike and wanted to see the Schwinn models in particular. He proceeded to ask me if I wanted a Schwinn "Because my daddy wouldn't buy me one when I was a little girl". He continued insulting me, told me they didn't carry Schwinns and never even offered to show me something similar. This was the absolute WORST customer service I've ever received. I plan on sharing my experience with anyone who says they're looking to buy a bike. more

great shop - great customer service 10/20/2009

I stopped by Don's Schwinn Cyclery with a friend on my continuing quest for a road bike to see what they had. We were greeted immediately and given the tour as well as the pros and cons of each bike. I'm still researching, but thought the experience at Don's was just great. more
