I definetly reccomend this company. I was so stressed out with our closings being rescheduled. Don's office staff was so patient and helpful. They sent three friendly guys who pad wrapped our furniture in the house before they loaded it. They were so efficient and careful. They delivered the next day after our second closing. Don's gave me the lowest quote out of 4 different Albany area movers I tried. I was really nervous about moving, but i had no reason. They sent a crew of 3 friendly movers who seemed to be just as interested as I in keeping my belongings from being damaged. The truck arrived right on time at 9am just as exepected and the men loaded my things onto the truck and brought them to my new house in 2 hours less than their quoted time/price. I've been warned about "bad movers" from friends, but Don's certainly does not fall under that category. They charged less than their quoted price, and had no hidden costs that they throw on you last minute. They didn't charge extra for fuel, and they didn't take lengthy breaks. All of my items arrived at my new home in just the condition they left. I would most certainly reccomend Don's to anyone looking for fair priced, speedy, and experienced movers. I was looking for the best estimate on a small move to a storage unit, and Don's was definitely the lowest estimate I found after calling several local moving companies. Generally speaking, the employees were friendly and helpful over the phone. However, I was surprised when they did not offer to send me a confirmation in writing, and then requested that I pay the driver of the truck in CASH. The day before the move, I called to confirm the move, and was told all was set. I subsequently received two additional phone calls from Don's to confirm my move (on the same day). This was frustrating to me as I do not appreciate having to repeat the same conversation more than once in the same day, especially when they were not prepared to formalize the agreement through a written contract in the first place. On the day of the move, the movers did not show up on time. In fact, they were almost three hours late. Worse still, they did not call me to tell me that they were running late. It wasn't until I called Don's after 45 mins of waiting that I was informed that they were going to be another hour and a half. The hour and a half came and went, I called again, and was informed they were indeed on their way. Sure enough, my movers showed up shortly after that. When they did arrive, they loaded the truck quickly -- probably because they did not wrap or protect my antique furniture at all. I winced as they scraped my valuable antiques against the door frames and cement stairs outside of the apartment. I shudder to think how the furniture was secured in the truck. Same carelessness on the unload. And although one of the movers was friendly and moving quickly, the driver of the truck was abrupt and less than professional (he never even told me his name). All in all, Don's came in under the quoted estimate, but I would not use them again for the delay and lack of care with my furniture. You get what you pay for.
