Downhill with Campiti's 4/8/2011

We visit Campiti's tonight. Being a Friday/Lenten night we got a large cheese one. We almost fell over after our first bite. The father Don would turn over in his grave if he tasted tonight's pizza. We been going to Campiti's since 1965. Matter of fact the father gave us a large pizza with everything one it for our wedding gift and it was out of this world. Tonight it had NO favor - chewy- flat tasting- not crispy at all- didn't taste like it was cook long enought. The crust was so, so bad - that I gave it to the birds. We were very, very disappointed . When I mention this to oneof the fellows behind the counters - all he stated was it all depend on who was the maker. Poor answer. 4/8/11 more

Nothing compares 2/18/2009

I know that it is natural to think that the pizza you grew up with is the best there is, but I still think that Campiti's beats any that I've had in the past 40+ years. I grew up around the corner and still go to Camp's whenever I'm in the 'burgh. I've taken my Chicago-raised kids there and they love it as have friends of theirs who have visited on their recommendation. \r \r The crust is hand rolled, the pepperoni is dumped on by the handful, the sauce is just right and the ambience is pure Pittsburgh. \r \r I love the Hoagies as well, especially baked. Now, if they would just get a decent selection of pop and bring back the long-gone sausage sandwich it would be beyond perfect. more

campiti's is the best. PERIOD. the pizza has not changed in thirty years. no matter who is cooking the pies and hoagies; the food is consistently great. i love the stuff. the drive is longer now than it was back then, but you do what you have to do. \r \r PROS; great food\r CONS; parking (you'll get over it) more

BEST PIZZA IN THE BURG 7/26/2007

I'm a second generation Campiti's lover. Now it's my son's favorite pizza too. No other pizza shop can hold a candle to Campiti's. The small pepperoni, thin crust & their Italian hoagies are the best barr none. My mom, myself & my son try to get there ever couple of weeks. If you don't walk out of there thinking that meal was the best thing since sliced bread.....you're crazy! Pros: Two thumbs up! Cons: Parking (but it's worth the walk!) more

I was born and raised on Campiti's Pizza, I have been in Florida for 9 yrs. and I have yet to find pizza that even comes close. If I could get one sent to florida, I would, it's one of the only things I miss about Pittsburgh!! Pros: Best Pizza anywhere Cons: parking/I can't get it in Fla. more

I love this pizza 6/6/2004

I love Don Campiti's pizza it is the best Pizza in Pittsburgh...It;s really good...when i was little i wasn't a fan of sauce on pizza and campitis has sauceless pizza, my father ate Campitis most of his life. While many of the pizza chains pizza is changing, Campitis stays the same and never changes, it's really good and is also good when it is reheated... Pros: excellent pizza, wonderful meat, good veggies more

Best thin pizza ever! 5/27/2004

I have been eating Campiti's pizza since 1959, it is the same today as it was then. They are the most consistant pizza I have ever eaten. The sausage and pepperoni is a great choice, the bacon and onion is fantastic. I have taken people there from all over the U.S. and they have become instant fans. If any single pizza shop in the burgh deserves a ""Best Of"" title it is Don Campiti's Pizza. Simply the BEST! Pros: Quality, Inexpensive more

Worth the trip 5/11/2004

Although I have never lived in Pittsburgh, I have plenty of relatives there that make visiting the city a yearly event (going on 29 years now) and Campiti's is on the itinerary. Simply put, the pizza is so different from anyplace in Minnesota, it's worth the yearly pilgrimage. The crust and sauce is what really makes this place unique. And it's the place to go to get nice and greasy pepperoni!!! Pros: Value, Quality, Convenience Cons: , Small location, atmosphere more

Campiti's 1/20/2004

I've been eating Campiti's pizza for over forty years and will continue to eat it until the day I die. I try not eat other pizza because Don's has spoiled me. The Pizza tastes the same today as it did when I first began eating it back in the early sixty's. The hoagie's are excellent also with their crispy baked rolls and the right amount of seasoned dressing. You have to try it if you like the thin crust Pizza. more

I have been going to Campiti's all my life it is the best Pizza in Pittsburgh. I don't live there anymore but everytime I go home I have to make a few trips for my pizza and hoagie's . It's all good. Pros: Great Food, Great Prices Cons: Parking more

Friday dinner... 8/7/2002

I was born and raised in Dormont, where Campiti's is located. My family and I have been going there for 31 yrs. I would have to say that for the majority of Fridays in my life I have eaten Campiti's Italian hoagies and pizza. It became a family tradition. We don't do it as often anymore, but it is enjoyed just as much when we do. I cannot say enough about Campiti's. Not only is the food excellent, but the aubience, employees (that I have known all my life) and the owner only add to the excellence! more

Campiti's is simply the best due to it staying the same year after year. The thin crust is always fresh with just the right amount of sauce. Campiti's has never switched its recipe or jumped on the bandwagon to deliver or switch crusts. This continuity is what makes Campiti's the best and always reliable. Pros: recipe never changed more

Do you like a thin crust pizza? This is the pizza for you. I no longer live near Don Campiti's Pizzeria but I will make the 45 minute trip just for this pizza. I even ship frozen pizza's from Don Campiti's Pizzeria to out of state relatives who really miss this pizza. more
