I grew up in Boston and tried MANY thai restaurants both here and in NYC where I go to school. Dok Bua is hands down the best of all. The place is small, but comfortable and color...

Quirky Thai Food at a Great Price 3/18/2006

When I used to live in Allston, I loved visitng Dok Bua, not just for the food, but also the quirky, fun atmosphere. The restaurant offers a plethora of standard thai dishes as well as other, more exotic specials such as curried salmon. Along with the regular menu, they offer a "photo album" filled with pictures of the different entrees, which I always thought was a helpful and creative idea. I loved their specials that come with a choice of soup and egg rolls. The red curry and tom yum soup were also always great! Better yet, their prices weren't quite on par with the more expensive restaurants and the service was always fast and friendly. more

Delicious Thai 1/16/2006

This is one of my favourite restaurant in Boston area. The dishes are great and nicely done. There a lot of original spices. A very crowded especially during the weekend and at night. They have lunch and dinner set that makes the dishes are afforadable. However the portion of set menu are a little bit small. If you like the restaurant, they also have member program, so you will get 10% off everytime you dine. more

Expensive but worthed 8/20/2005

One of the best Thai restaurant around Boston area. Even though the price of the food is quite expensive, but its worthed considering how delicious the food is and how friendly the waiters and waitresses are. For frequent customers, I suggest getting their membership card to get a 10% off of your total check and 20% off of your total check on your birthday. more

Amazing Thai in Brookline 8/18/2005

What used to be a Thai grocery is oh so much more now. This is an amazing Thai place in the heart of Coolidge Corner. A quaint place with knick knacks galore, you have to love the menu that consists of a photo album of pictures. Laugh as you might, but good Asian is never about the grandiose architecture. For a meal that will not let you down have the chicken pad kee mao. On a great night, have the ginger lobster special. Skip the jasmine tea which comes in a bar shot glass and always sample a desert or two. It's a great place for those who know Asian and know how to get down and dirty when it comes to eating. more

Great Thai on the cheap. 8/14/2005

This restaurant recently appeared on the Phantom Gourmet's Great Ate and it is well-deserving. During lunchtime, the specials are ridiculously inexpensive and give you more value for your dollar than most other restaurants in the area (the sole possible exception: Anna's, although you don't get the variety). Lunch sets come with an appetizer, soup or salad, and an entree--usually a rice or noodle dish. The menu is loaded with goodies, which you can see in the photo album menu before you order so you know exactly what you're getting. Things get busy on the weekends though and you may wind up being queued. more
