Editorial review from Citysearch 10/3/2012

Two of my neighbors told me about David Reinecker and I decided to call him after another dog expert told me that it could take 6 months to a 1 year to train my 6-year-old Akita who was biting everyone including my husband and myself. My veterinarian prescribed the equivalent to doggie prozac and it didn?t work. In addition, I also hired in the past 3 dog trainers and tried every technique suggested by them: clickers, the thundershirt, appeasing hormones, choke collars, leash exercises with treats, etc but nothing worked until I hired David. more

Best of the best 7/31/2011

David Reinecker is a truly special dog trainer and person in general. Working with him undoubtedly exceeded my expectations. Ryley, my 2 and a half-year-old cockapoo, had aggression problems from the time we got him (he was 7 months old). After extensive training sessions with two other dog trainers in LA, I felt helpless. Nothing worked. No results. Our food aggressive and fear aggressive alpha male cockapoo bite both my sister and me on separate occasions. As a result, I researched several dog trainers who specialized in aggression. Acting on intuition, I decided on Dog Remedy and called them right away. I was welcomed over the phone by a kind, friendly woman named Tatiana. She patiently answered all my questions, addressed all my concerns, and I felt prepared for our first lesson to begin. Enter, David Reinecker. As soon as he stepped into our house, he knew what he was doing. He read the dynamics of the relationship between our dog and us. He did an amazing job feeling out all the different energies. After our first lesson, he left us with several exercises to do. They worked. Ryley was listening to us and doing what he was told. David also gave us some simple tips that made a huge difference. We ended up having three lessons overall. Each time, David made a lasting impression on us. Ryley kept on improving each time. In between the days David came to our house, we wrote lists of questions we wanted answers to. David made sure to answer all of them and made a huge effort to leave our house only after we were assured and relaxed. Here more

David from Dog Remedy helped my dogs so much. One was so aggressive toward other people, dogs, including my other dog. Anyone knocking on the door was sure they would be attcked by a huge dog, he""s about 25 lbs. I was afraid to take him out for his walks. David came and after the first lesson my dog was 75% better. There were 2 more lessons for this dog and for my other dog who was afraid of everything! more

best dog trainer in los angeles 12/5/2010

David is by far the best dog trainer in Los Angeles. Bailey, my 3 year old rescued mutt has had aggression problems since she was 9 months old. She was not only aggressive towards dogs in our condo complex, but also had fear aggression towards people. Thankfully, never actually biting anyone, but always barking at people she didn't know. Our main problem was the aggression in our condo complex though. It had gotten so bad that I was terrified every time I walked her around our complex. She had already bitten a dog in our complex (and left me with a 2 grand vet bill to pay) and tried to attack almost every dog she saw. It was not only stressful, but starting to become a liability and we were scared that she would one day be put to sleep. I was a proactive dog owner before I met with David. I had read all the books and watched all the episodes of Cesare Millan. I had tried all the tactics I knew to fix Bailey's aggression and NOTHING worked. We had tried bark collars and squirt bottles (I was against shock collars) and still nothing. I cant really explain how or why David's tactics work, but all I know is that it works. David was great. We ended up having 2 sessions with him, but only because we wanted to fine tune some stuff in the second session. We saw a huge change after our first session. She stopped pulling me on walks, she stopped lunging at other dogs, she completely stopped barking and growling at other dogs. I was able to once again have a conversation with my neighbors who were also walking their dogs. It was something I had thought would never happen again. It has now been 3 weeks since our first session and she can now walk past a dog and completely ignore it. What I have been trying to do for 2 years, David did in weeks. It was nice because David's suggestions were stuff that I could do myself. Unlike other trainers that make you practice with family members or other dogs, David's suggestions were all that was all doable with just me. Simple things like changing her food and when to give her eye contact and even touch. What I also liked about David was that he didn't tell me I had to change the way I acted towards my dog. What I mean by that is that he didn't tell me that my dog couldn't sleep in my bed or that he couldn't curl up next to me on my couch. I could still stay affectionate with my dog and at the same time fix her aggression problems. I do have to warn everyone that you do have to invest time into your dog if you want their problems fixed. Bailey is a better dog because I work with her every single day and I am consistent. If you are not willing to invest time into your dog and really do what David says, you wont see results quickly or may not even see them period. Even if David's suggestions seem out of the box, at least try them because they really work. I would recommend David to every single dog owner is just stuck and does not know how to fix their dogs aggression. He is not only a great trainer but a really nice guy. Oh and though David's specialty is aggression, he is also great with fixing other behavioral problems like jumping on the counter or taking food off the table. He was able to give us some great tips. My only wish is that I would have done this sooner. He really is ""Uncle David"" to our dog Bailey. more

Helped us with our lovable but aggressive, barky Terrier mix 11/18/2010

David made it possible for our family to keep our dog Willie. We have a four year old Terrier mix who in the past year or so became very aggressive towards humans and other dogs. During walks Willie would lunge at dogs he met along the way, bark incessantly when the doorbell rang (even on TV!), and worse, he began biting humans. We have had three appointments with David. After the very first appointment, my family and I thought we had a new dog. We trained at home and after that first 90 minutes or so, we learned how to help Willie be more relaxed so that doorbells, squirrels, or knocks around the house no longer produced incessant barking. At the second appointment we walked around the neighborhood practicing our walks where we were in control. Upon encountering a few neighborhood dogs, David showed Willie (and us!) how to properly behave. He did not lunge or growl at other dogs. The third appointment came about after a very unfortunate incident occurred. Willie had gotten out of the house and through two open gates (our fault) and lunged and bit at a neighbor. I called David ASAP, around 10 p.m., very distressed and upset. Tatiana woke up a sleepy David who assured me that Willie was a good dog and that everything would be ok. We made an appointment for a few evenings later, past his usual business hours. I read other reviews that include some comments about David's ""tricks"" and ""magic."" I get it that David's techniques teach Willie to respect us. At this third appointment, David asked for a ""stranger"" to come by the house. A willing neighbor came by with his toddler. After an exercise or two, all of us, our neighbor included, were immeasurably impressed with Willie's progress. Willie did not bark incessantly at nor did he lunge at our neighbor. I have learned what appropriate barking is - David said that after all, we do want Willie to be a watch dog. Everything is easier - feeding him, walking him, having friends drop by, having food delivered by strangers! David tailors his training to you dog and family's specific needs. He spent a lot of time interviewing us, trying to figure out contributors to our problems. He walked about our house and property to check out how the environs were contributing to our issues. And he asked us to demonstrate the various ways we had been interacting with/managing Willie. Take the advice of other reviewers who say that you have to keep up with the training. They're right -it takes work every day. But the outcome is unbelievably rewarding. I will forever be grateful to both David and Tatiana. more

Dog Training Genious 3/27/2010

Our female Australian Shepard, Border Collie puppy ""Panda Bear"" was having some serious issues. She would guard her things, toys, snacks, water food. She bit me in the face and bit her dad on the hand, both drew blood. We love her she is very sweet but the guarding thing was out of control and super scary! We tried low cost training alternatives and they didn't work. So we contacted Dog Remedy and got David Reinecker over for a training session. He came over and assessed the sitiuation, he is very intuitive and picked up on the vibe in the home. It was actually very interesting to witness how he works. He agreed Panda was super stubborn. He knew exactly what to do. We went through some exercises and ""boom"" she was a different doggy! She has never even come close to biteing us again and is now a very nice well behaved great dog. David did exactly what was needed, taught us too and it worked! He changed everything in one session and it lasted! With a little work from us Panda Bear is a happy healthy doggy with parents who love her and are not afraid she will ever do those bad things again. (priceless) David Reinecker was awesome! Panda Bear is super awesome! Pros: Fast Effective Easy Cons: None! He was great! more
