Low prices, Quality products 4/6/2011

This is one of the cheapest specialty pet stores around Tampa. If you have a dog or pets that you actually buy REAL dog food that isn't a 7 dollar bag of by products and additives from the gas station or sweetbay,go here. THINGS COST MORE THAN THEY DO AT WALMART because its a small company, not a conglomerate. more

I shop here because they sell the best quality food. One lady that helped me find a new dog food for my dog is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to ingredients, quality, and other issues such as food allergies. more

Awesome service and prices 3/14/2011

I was a Petco shopper up until 2 months ago. I found the Nutro dog food I purchase for $5.00 less than Petco. I was pleasently surprised and the staff if eager to assist. I like the small store feel and I don't have to spend $100 to get $5 off. more

Great shop with a great selection 3/10/2011

After reading some of the bad reviews I wonder if those people got up on the wrong side of life that day, and as for breaking something in a shop, shame on that person if they didn't offer to pay for it! Dog Lovers is a great shop, with a great selection, a big heart for the community, we need more like this in Tampa!! more

Great place to find specialty dog products 3/4/2011

Everyone has someone in their life that loves their dog. I'm one of those people. Dog lovers offers a wide variety of specialty products that are breed specific for dog lovers, and also other products to help dress, feed and groom your dog nicely. I love going in to purchase different dog collars and see all the knick knacks they have of every breed imaginable. This is a great place to find that unique gift for some one with an odd breed. The staff is always very helpful and knowledgeable on the products they carry. They generally have an area with many fliers that have events coming up, and of other pet service providers. It's a great shop to stop and visit and wonderful for those who have a love dogs. more

This shop is fabulous, they have every dog supply imaginable. They have food obviosuly, all brands and all sizes and all prices. they have so many accessories, from chains to leashes to beds and houses. They have a nice clean store that is kept organized. The staff are all helpful and friendly and really know alot about dogs in general. The selection of accessories is great to because you can get a cute collar for a tiny little dog or some big large dog, they have all sorts of sizes for everything (food, clothes, houses, etc.) more

What a great store, knowledge staff, and they all love dogs and remember their names! The owner is not only very knowledgable about foods but about supplements and how to use them. And the doggie deli is puppy heaven! And while I don't have a cat they have great cat items too! Thanks Dog Lovers, it's a pleasure coming in! more

Absolutely Love Shopping Here 2/3/2011

I absolutely love shopping in this dog store. I am quite an animal lover with 3 dogs and I can find interesting, different things here, as wells as normal everyday things you need. They carry a huge variety of accessories and specialty items dog lovers like. They have a lot of personalized knick-knacks and mementos, as well as interesting housewares with different breeds on them. Some things can be quite pricey, but you are in a specialty store buying things that might be breed specific for decorative purposes or because you can't find it anywhere else. All the staff is very knowledgable and obviously they love dogs. They carry alot of valuable information on training clubs, and offer many recommendations. I do remember that they carry some dog flea medications, which makes it very convient. If you are looking for something interesting to give to the dog lover in your life, or the pet in your life this is the place to go. If they don't have it they can direct you to someone who does! more

Great store. I love the variety and prices. Outstanding customer service. My American Hairless Terriers eat Fromm Family food and this is one of the few places where I can buy it. Thank you for being so helpful. more

Totally unique store!! Lots of fun gift items. This week I found kissing beagle salt and pepper shakers. Not like a Petsmart where everything is just for the animals, lots of other collectibles. more

Best Specialty Pet Place 12/15/2010

By far the best specialty pet supply store in the Tampa Bay Area. For anybody that's ever had diet or allergy issues, this is the place that can provide sound advice. This place has everything for the novice, to the professional, in both supplies and education. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fair prices. Extensive selection. Since I found it, I stopped having to search for special foods. I will continue to do all my shopping at this store to support a local business that can provide ""real"" guidance. Completely different experience than at the chain pet stores. more

Very nice Independently owned toy store for dogs and cat stuff. They have a doggie dollar rebate on certain items and you use them like cash. Always something happening there when I visit. Be it rescue or pet photography low cost vet too.Prices are average and they don't sell animals..... more

Friendly and Knowledgeable 11/22/2010

My husband and I shop there all of the time for our Shephard mix. The staff is always friendly and knowledgable. Our dog has a skin allergy and the vet recommended several different types of food to help with her licking. The associate we spoke with at Dog Lovers was not only knowledgable, but actually recommended a LESS expensive food for us than the one we told him we were originally considering. I, for one, would much rather shop at a family owned business than a big chain like Pet Supermarket, etc. I feel better knowing there are still some family owned, small businesses in the area. They do run events with a lot of the rescue sites in the area. Also, their prices are no different than what you would find at other chain pet stores. We don't pamper our dog or treat her like a princess, we just want her to have good, nutritious food and treats, and you can get those at Dog Lovers. more

Very Caring 11/8/2010

Dog Lovers is great!!! I do not know who has been writing all the bad reviews, but every time I have been in the store, the staff has been very friendly and helpful. On occasions, they even have an old but cute and very sweet border collie named Silk who accompanies clients around the store making the visit more endearing. Checkout is no different from any other pet store. As far as expensive, Dog Lovers sells special quality foods that my vet recommended (Barf Dog Food). Dog Lovers does have a doggy dollar system where they will give you paper which will allow you discounts on most product other than food. I have used them a number of times and never experienced any sort of delay. I find it curious that a few of these negative commentators went out of their way to mention, by name, a pet store in Lutz. Another thing I found misleading about one of the negative comments, I have been into Dog Lovers many times over the years and they never had a lady who was around 70 years old. I get a warm greeting every time I come into the store and this includes Penny, the owner. Another thing I like about Dog Lovers is that they very much support various animal rescue organizations. I recommend Dog Lovers to anyone who loves their dog and appreciates a staff that loves dogs also! more

GREAT STORE! 11/5/2010

I love this store! I have found many items here priced LOWER than PetSmart and Petco. I am quite the bargin shopper and will go to several stores before making my purchase. I have found training tools and food suppliments here that cost much less than those other stores. Not less than online, but they have friendly helpful staff that can help me decide if the item will work for me and my dog, which they don't have that online! Everyone that works here is very nice. They always talk to us and remember us from one time to the next. One of my dogs is a pitbull. She has much more friendly and has better manners than my other dogs. I don't understand the other reviewers references to pitbull dogs at all. more
