Let me begin by saying that I have never wrote a review before. However, my experience was so dreadful that the least I could do is help someone avoid the same mistake I did.
Maurice/George came to my home and offered me a quote. He gave me a great price, something he reminded me of the whole ordeal as if I should have been grateful and my job wasn't as important.
My first mistake...giving George an upfront deposit. Second mistake was disregarding one of the negative reviews on his site because he claimed it was a disgruntled employee. The same day I have Maurice a deposit he ran off to cash the check at some 24 hour cashing place...first red flag.
I was rescheduled a total of 10 times. At first, he claimed it was the weather and he was behind on other jobs...I tried to be understanding. Then and employee's father passed away...then there was no sod...then the flagstone place was closed...It got so bad that towards the end he stopped making excuses and flat out did not come.
The worst part of the whole ordeal was how unprofessional George was. He constantly reminded me of how much I should be paying for my job, he was very demeaning and condescending in the way he spoke to me. It got so bad that I had to have my brother talk to him to attempt to get the work done.
The last straw for me came when he was telling me yet again why he would not make it...In the back and forth arguing (Yes, he flat out argued with me) he hung up the phone on me. At that point I told my brother to call George and cancel the job and I would have another company finish the job and sue him for the difference.
As if the above was not enough, he spoke to my brother and tried to rectify the situation. I was done so I no longer wanted any more communication with such an unprofessional individual. He told my brother he would have my job completed on Tuesday.
Not to make a long story that is already long, it is Wednesday morning at 6:00 am and I am writing this review. I speak Spanish, so one of George's workers told me that he picked him up (who knows from where) and it was his first time working with him. The job was so horrible that I had to explain to the worker that I don't think cement/concrete should be covering an entire flagstone. I stayed til 1 am with my Tile guy removing the excess concrete and scrubbing the flagstone
Where was Maurice you may ask when inexperience workers were laying down flagstone? Well I cam home from work and these two workers had been out all dall with no food or water and no sign of Maurice.
Once Maurice was notified...he had the audacity to call me unprofessional because I was outside repairing the damage his workers had done and stated he would no longer come out.
Bottom line...I have to hire my Tile guy and his workers, purchase new sod and roll it out, lay down some pavers, and mobilize a hot tub, and create a fire pit. All the work that was left after a month of dealing with Maurice...
My whole point of not firing him long ago is having to deal with going to court and my patio looking awful until this situation is resolved.
Please , have the courage to do what I could not do...run!
