I went thru one of the hardest times in my life, and facing up 2 years in prison. Having the odds against me, 5 people saying (all friends) that I committed a crime that I did not commit. I was desperately looking for attorneys that could help me. From a big list I narrowed it down to a few attorneys that I met in person. After meeting with Jim, I knew I was going to pick him. With his extensive experience and his great personality, I knew he was very professional and that he really cared about me and my case. Jim Dixon was excellent in every aspect, at the time of the interviews with the people claiming I committed the crime, he was able to obtain a lot of conflicting statements from the alleged witnesses. All of this evidence was a definite factor for us to never pursue for a plea bargain and go for the trial. Just one week before the trial got a very tempting plea bargain, from 1 felony (assault 2) and 1 misdemeanor (assault 4), they offered me 2 misdemeanors (assaults 4) and they will be deferred in a period of 2 years, no jail time, some community service, after this such great deal, Jim was able to improve with his impressive negotiating skills to an Alford plea. This Alford plea greatly reduced the risk for a civil suit at a later time, this was a key factor for my decision. This kind of plea bargain is no offered very often and the reason I was giving this deal was greatly because of the impressive job that Jim Dixon had done with my case. I was truly fortunate to have selected Jennifer to represent me in a personal injury case. This was a four year, and often arduous, process. The unique circumstances of my case required a unique combination of sympathy, practical legal knowledge, and judgment, which Jennifer never failed to provide. James Dixon is AWESOME and so is his administrative assistant Fran!!! My son was not represented well by his first attorney and received an unusually high sentence. We sought out Mr. Dixon to appeal this sentence. He and his staff were wonderful to us and to my son during the long appeal process. Through phone calls and emails he kept us informed of every step of the journey. Can't say enough good things about this firm. I was panicked my 19 year old son informed me hours before he was to show up for his arraignment he had been arrested for a couple of misdemeanors one with a mandatory 1 day jail time. This may not seem like a big deal but he is only 19 and didn't need a criminal record and certainly not at the start of his adult life. I found Jennifer Cannon-Unione who not only walked my son and I through the charges she calmed the whole situation. She exudes a persona which garners confidence. She was able to to make the appearance that day as his attorney and have his plea noted without our having to go to court. She then gathered all the material facts of the case and very clearly spelled out my son's options. She was experienced and had even worked with the prosecutor before on another case which was helpful in working a deal on my son's. Last year, I faced a charge of assault in fouth degree. I think this was the worst time in my life. I had the oportunity to meet Jennifer in a friend's party. I was so nervous when I made the phone call to Dixon & Cannon, Fran the very sweet and personable receptionist hooked me into Jennifer Cannon's office and she could tell immediately that I was upset. Over the phone, she calmed me down right away. I went on to tell my story I was looking at 90 days in jail and believe you me I was one scared little puppy, because I have never been to jail ever in my life. Jennifer took me by the hand and guided me step by step on what was going to take place, we did what she said we were going to do and I not only didn't spend a day in jail, but I didn't even have to do one hour of community service and walked out of the court house with a $43.00 fine and that was it.
