would never go there again! 1/5/2007

The owner of this shop is very snobby, and treated me like I had no money. She only stocks gowns no bigger than a size 12 which can be about a 6-8 in street sizes. When dresses didn't fit me she expected me to buy a $3,000 dollar dress when I could only hold it up to me. \r \r I wish I would not have wasted my time there, I would never set foot in there again. Pros: nothing more

The ONLY place to buy a dress in PDX 11/1/2005

My experience with Divine Designs could not have been better. My mom and I felt welcomed in the store from the moment we walked in. I worked directly with the owner and found her to be wonderful! She was very knowledgable about the dresses and was able to help me find the perfect dress for me. She is open and honest (almost blunt) about whether or not dresses look right on you and makes suggestions for other styles that might look better (i.e. she was never trying to sell me just any dress). Her store is by far the classiest and most upscale store in all of Portland. And if you're looking for a designer dress - this is the place to go. I found that the competition in Portland doesn't compare. Pros: Selection of dresses, Service!!! more

The Dress 9/19/2005

I wasn't looking for a dress, I was looking for ""The Dress."" If this is you then consider Devine Designs. I bought a couture dress from Paris that was made to order, then fitted for me when I arrived. The designer agreed to make a few alterations to the design for me (add sleeves because it was a winter wedding) which is highly unusual. Not for the financially feint of heart. I found the staff helpful and polite. My dress would take 9 months due to back order and shipping, which they told me up front. There are more dresses than what you see up front, so ask for help. Pros: couture, quality fabrics, knowledgeable staff Cons: $$$$$, limited selection, business hrs limited more

Don't Bother! 8/27/2005

I only briefly visited Divine Designs as part of my search for a dress, but the atmosphere and condescending manner of the pretentious staff were readily enough to turn me promptly away! The saleswoman who helped me came off as completely unctuous and snooty. It felt to me like the management believes that if they portray a sense of superiority it will enhance the expensive and prestigious brands that the store carries; whereas in reality this just makes the staff seem stuck up. I walked in with the money and interest to purchase a dress, but the social posturing that the staff were doing made it quickly very clear that I was going to have to play a lot of games just to get into a potential dress. I would recommend to avoid! Cons: Condescending staff, Pretentious staff, Unctuous staff more

Rude and unacceptable experience. 8/26/2005

My daughter and I flew in to Portland to check out gowns available at Divine Designs. The owner was rude, haughty and completely uncaring about our desires. There was nothing positive about their customer service at all. We left and went to Nordstrom where we were treated with respect. I have shopped at beautiful shops throughout the world and travel to Portland often to shop but have never been treated the way I was treated at Diving Designs. If you value your bridal experience and want it to be a joyful one, steer clear of this shop! We pay extra for what we want but the experience can be ruined by rudeness. Cons: Rude staff, Rude owner, Expensive more

Great Experience 8/10/2005

I am only writing a review because I had a great experience. I had good service from the owner and workers. I would drop in to ask questions and they would answer me and treated me with respect. I went to some of the other highly rated shops and I was not treated well. I would recommend them if you have a specific designer in mind. The dresses are very expensive but turn out exquisite! Pros: High End Designers Cons: High Prices more

No Customer Service 2/8/2005

The owner of this shop is hideously rude and has not sense of customer service. She is even rude on the phone. I would never, ever buy anything from this place. Not only are the staff rude, the dresses are very expensive. more

Avoid this store like the plague! 1/2/2005

I placed an order with Divine 7 months ago for a Amsale gown that I fell in love with. They refused to give me a ship date eventhough I'm leaving the country on the 8th for a month. I told them that I need this dress to come in before the 1/8 which is more than enough time for shipment. They promised me that my dress would be here the last week in December or before I leave in January. I called them on the 3rd and they told me that they need to check to see when it will be shipped. I told them that if the dress does not come in before 1/8, that dress will remain in their store for a month. The response I got from them is ""that's okay as long as it's paid for"". I would have NEVER bought my dress through Divine Designs. more

Unique gowns 12/11/2004

If you have a huge budget and looking for a unique gown definitly check it out. Great service and enjoyable shopping experience. Dresses were out of my budget, but appreciated their help. Pros: Parking, Service more

SO DISAPPOINTED 12/15/2003

I was helped by the owner of the store and was shocked to realize that she has no interest in retaining her customer base. She made fun of my budget to one of the sales associates after she left the fitting room - did she not think I could hear her? My friends and I are all at the age where we're starting to get engaged and married - I have told my story to all of them and not one will step foot into that store. Several girlfriends who have recently gotten married have had the same experience from Divine Designs. As it turned out, my budget was considerably higher than I let on and because of the owner's attitude I spent my money at Tres Fabu and received excellent service. Pros: good location, nice presentatio Cons: over priced, terrible service, snobbish more

BRIDES BEWARE!!!! 9/17/2003

Brides beware - I would avoid this store like the plague. Weddings are stressful enough without the added stress and bad customer service in dealing with the magic of shopping for your dress. Not to mention the catty, harsh owner who is all about the money and treats her customers with disdain and disregard. I am surprised that they are still in business. I wish I would have listened to the word on the street - because the more I talk to people the more I hear to avoid this store at all costs. Cons: Unprofessional, Bad service, Bad Owner more

Don't believe it 7/25/2003

Don't be persuaded by the glitz and glam of 23rd Ave. They will not live up to their promises. When they are the ones that screw up your order, you will end up being the one to pay. Even if a dress is altered completely wrong (the seamstress confirmed it) they will tell you it looks great. They will also talk about you behind your back, in front of other customers (I heard it). They will say and do anything to get your money. Spend your money where the staff is more professional and courteous. Pros: hard to find dresses Cons: hard to get dresses, rude, rude, rude, overpriced more

stressed 7/22/2003

there is nothing like an organized bride. she makes all the right choices at the right time. but the choice of divine designs was not the right choice. don't believe their opinions, they only tell you what will make a sale. not to mention keep appointments-they may not show up. don't rearrange your schedule to theirs-it is a wasted day. take your money somewhere they deserve it. don't let them be the reason for any stress. they don't deserve that much satisfaction. Pros: ok selection, clean floors, large mirrors Cons: customer service, status of inventory, fairhaired seamstress more

Terrible customer service 7/3/2003

Nice selection, but these people care more about taking your money than anything else. Make sure you know exactly what you want because they don't accept returns on anything, even items they regularly stock. And don't bother trying to argue with the owner - she won't accept responsibility for her or her staff's mistakes (like not showing up for an appointment). more

A Bridal Salon Like No Other 3/7/2003

Unlike the many other bridal salons I visited, the staff at Divine Designs made me feel special. The staff was extremely gracious and knowledgeable and the selection of gowns was amazing. If you are looking for something different (and you think most gowns in bridal magazines are hideous!) then I suggest you make an appointment. I think it is worth spending a little extra money for the personal attention and the selection of so many exquisite gowns. Pros: Personal Attention, Gown Selection, Knowledgeable Staff more

Great Service/Great Selection 8/15/2002

I had a wonderful experience at Divine Designs. I found Monica and her staff to be very helpful, approachable and fun. (I also loved that Monice really knew what she was doing and could give me great advice on what kind of dress would look best on me and what kind of dress was appropriate for the place and time of my wedding) And, I absolutely loved the dress and veil that I purchased. Great job! Pros: Gorgeous dresses!, Great people., Fun atmosphere more

Lovely Dresses 7/15/2002

If you want to find a coture gown in Portland you must visit Divine Designs. They carry fabulous dresses by all the top designers. I was highly impressed with their gown selection, although all the really great gowns were hidden in the back room, so you can't through them yourself. That was disappointing. My salesperson was Nadig and she was very professional and nice. I did not find the sales staff to be snotty at all. However, I did find the dresses to be quite expensive as they are all high end designers, expect to pay quite a bit if you purchase your dress here! more

The worst place on earth 5/30/2002

I wrote the ""150 words is not enough."" When I rated divine designs I gave them the LOWEST score possible - a 3. They made mistake after mistake. They did not come through until I sent them a fax settting a two-day deadline for them to meet in their 3rd attempt to perform on the contract for the wedding dress. They deserve the lowest score possible. Now that a lower number is available .... they earned a 1. Cons: late, BAD customer serv. more
