I'm so glad a store like this is still in business. They have travel books and gear, but what's really great about this place is the live events it holds. Book signings, talks about exotic destinations, and travel gurus giving advice. Great store and one I like to support. more

GREAT! shopping 11/29/2007

Don't let the display windows fool you. This is NOT just a bookstore. Venture in and take a look around...you'll find safety items, bags, clothes, maps...all kinds of things that you will need when traveling...and actually, a TON of things you won't need...but will surely want. more

A Must for the Traveler 10/31/2005

Located in Old Town Pasadena, Distant Lands is the place to go if youre looking for travel books and items. The store carries a good selection of travel accessories such as backpacks, journals, pillows and clothes. They also have an excellent travel book section that covers the globe. Plus, the staff knows the products well and are extremely helpful. more

Much more than a bookstore 6/22/2005

The travel bookstore takes up about half to a third of the store. The rest is packed with anything you might want for your travel needs: clothing, luggage, accessories and nic-nacs. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. more

World class travel store for a world class traveler 6/17/2005

Love this travel store! From the floor to ceiling bookshelves that are filled with travel books to waterproof journals to the best selection of backpacks, anybody who loves to travel should pop into this store at least once. They have probably one of the most extensive collection of travel books I have come across - you can find a book on almost any place on the world map. The staff are friendly and very helpful. more

Distant Lands is my favorite travel store. It is located in beautiful Old Town Pasadena, so you can easily park your car once and walk to Distant Lands as well as all the other great stores in Old Town. It has a wide variety of travel books as well asclothes, money belts, travel pillows, and other essentials for traveling. The staff is knowledgeable about their products and willing to offer their advice on which brand to choose. The store also hosts evening slide shows and talks by local people who want to share the stories of their travel adventures. It is a unique travel store and one that is a pleasure to check out. more

This is a great place for all of your travel needs. They have everything, not just books. The staff seems pretty knowledgable which helps when you need advice. A little pricey though. I guess because they don't have much competition. Located on the outer reaches of Old Town across from the Green Street Hotel. more

Excellent travel store, with guidebooks on every conceivable place, language aids from Albanian to Zulu, travel gear and a travel agency. Plus they have occasional lectures by travel experts, with ample opportunity to ask your own questions. more
