In ShortReversing the 1920s practice of hiding a liquor emporium behind an upstanding restaurant, The Dish is an upstanding restaurant hidden behind one of Tucson's best wine shops, The Rum Runner. Not coincidentally, The Dish is a wine lover's haven, where over 30 international wines are available by the glass and many more available by the bottle. Only a dozen tables have been snuggled into the small bistro space, so reservations are a must. The dinner menu, too, is tiny but unfailingly appealing. Perhaps too cutely, appetizers are called "little dishes" (try the saffron mussels or the fontina tart) and entrees are dubbed "big dishes." Snickering is difficult, however, as you compulsively fork more penne Piacenza into your mouth. Despite the Speedway address, the door to The Dish is actually around back, facing the parking lot.
