I just enrolled my two year old daughter a few weeks ago and my daughter got EXTREMELY sick with a fever diarrhea and vomiting to the point where she couldn't even keep down water and they never tried calling me telling me she was sick even with all the symptoms all day there. I had to take her to the ER for dehydration and she stayed home sick for an entire week with those symptoms. And I am going through a messy custody case with her father and he doesn't have any custodial rights but they said if he showed up they wouldn't call the cops or even stop him from taking her. They would only call me to let me know he HAD been there and HAD taken her. And on top of all that they first told the open all the classes at 0645 but the open the doors at 0630 and I could drop her off at 0630 since I am military and I work farther away and have to be there by a certain time but then when I tried dropping her off the only TWO DAYS I took her there. They wouldn't let me in until 0645 and said they can't open at 0630 and I need to figure things out and force my command to work with me on a better time for me to come in to work. When I pay $800 a month for daycare I expect them to work with me better on the time they agreed to have the doors open by. I am only an E3 in the military so $800 is most of my pay check. And even though she had only been there two days I had to pay for the rest of that month and all of the next month even though she never went back. This school was the WORST daycare was the experience I have EVER had. more

We've been taking our two children to Discovery Depot for the past ten years. We've seen this wonderful school grow from a rabbit-warren of a house in Silverdale, to the custom-built schoolhouse it's in now. Connie Falconer designed the school aligned with her vision for the best way to use the Montessori method to teach young children. There's an ample backyard, with climbing things, space to play with balls and other equpment; a couple garden plots that the kids work in, and enough space upstairs and down for three full classrooms.\r When our children were in the Pre-K and Kindergarten there, their classroom experiences were terrific. The teachers were loving, nurturing, always positive, never punitive. They lifted children up, encouraging them to be the best, most inquisitive little worker bees they could be! Every day was full of music, math, living things, dance, practical life lessons (hooray for manners, and setting the table, and always, always, cleaning up after yourself when you're finished!), sharing, and words, words, words.\r We have NEVER regretted sending our children to Discovery Depot. \r Following his success in the Montessori way at Discovery Depot, our son thrived in 1st through 6th grade Montessori classes in the Central Kitsap School District. Every weekday, he spent his before and after school time at Discovery Depot, where he was appreciated and encouraged.\r Our daughter currently attends before & after school daycare there. And through the ups and downs of second grade, there at Discovery Depot she has a place that's like home. Every afternoon when I pick her up, I find her busily engaged in fun activities, and she says good-bye to her teacher with a genuinely affectionate hug. What more could you ask for in a daycare than for your child to know, absolutely, that she is valued and cherished? more

This school was deceptive. We thought 6/9/2012

This school was deceptive. We thought they were wonderful the entire time we attended (about 2 years). However my son started having problems there. Come to find out another child was constantly attacking him (punching, kicking, etc) to the point one day at four years old he told me he shouldn???t be alive anymore, that one of the kids told him he should kill himself. The teachers were telling him he was being a tattle-tale every time he tried to get help and then when I tried to get some help with the situation, the school turned on us. All of a sudden, after a year and a half of them telling me everything was great, he was a great kid, etc, they tell me that he is the worse kid there. One day when I went to pick him up from his class for a doctor???s appointment (which I called in advance and told them about) I caught his male teacher down stairs yelling at him and another girl. Then when I told the director (Connie) they said that it was a misunderstanding and that maybe from now on I should make sure everyone knows I???m going to be dropping in, so I???m not disruptive. I then tried to show them the booklet that said the school had an open door policy (this was around 2009); she told me that the rules had changed. The open door policy was a big one for me; that was one of the things I explicitly asked about/made sure was allowed, etc, before we chose to have my son attend. Anyway, long story short, we were burned financially by going to this school and I find out bits and pieces as time goes on and my son starts talking more about this horrible school. I just found out today, as he randomly remembered and spoke about the male teacher that had yelled at him, had also spanked him when he didn???t listen him. So, send your kid here if you want but they are really good at covering their tracks and wrongdoings??? it took us 2 years to find out that our son was being mistreated and that was pure luck. We would have never known and we are still finding out about the abuses that went on. We tried to press charges or file a report but we didn???t have enough proof and we were not about to allow our child to stay in the school any longer to get our proof??? and unfortunately, you can???t send your child with a secret recorder or anything like that (in Washington state) without their consent??? so, when we???re talking about children from 1-4 years of age??? hard to catch the people when their doing bad things. Beware of this school; they???re not what they seem! more
