I spent over a week calling every tire seller in middle Tennessee trying to find a set of tires that fit my budget. At one store, I was met with a salesman who barely uttered a sentence before telling me that the lowest 3 or 4 models of tires for my car weren't available, but he would be happy to cut me a deal on their highest grade. No thanks. Then, my boyfriend started helping with the search. He talked to someone at one of the car parts / service stores who quoted him around $300 for four tires. Great! I called the same store to confirm right before taking my car. The EXACT SAME tires they had quoted for him at $300 the day before (no special sales mind you) they quoted at over $600 for me. Really? I must not have been the gender of customer they were looking for.
Then I called Discount Tire in Mt. Juliet. The gentleman who answered the phone answered and I have to admit I probably barked a bit, ""Look, I just want to know what the rock bottom price is - NO road hazard, NO extras!"". The man on the phone laughed ""You've called a lot of places haven't you? Well, that's not what we do here, let me explain..."". He went on to tell me about the warranties and services included with ALL tire purchases. Then he quoted me a great price.
I took my car to discount tire, and rather than trying to upsell me from the price I was quoted, they actually showed me on the computer all the choices I had for my car! A tire with double the warranty of the cheapest one for $20 more total? Sign me up! I went and had a burger and by the time we had finished lunch, my car was ready. They met me with my keys and warranty when I returned for my car. AWESOME SERVICE!
Bottom line, I drove from downtown Nashville to Mount Juliet based on the phone call I made, and now I will encourage EVERYONE I KNOW to go to Discount Tire in Mount Juliet. Thank you for redeeming my faith that there are still honest companies that do a good job for their customers!
Pros: Upfront, straightforward and honest
Cons: Far from my home, but worth the drive
