As the owner of this facility Id like to start with an apology , both for your dog being soiled and the response you were given when you asked why. \r Id also like to explain a bit about how my facility operates . I believe that may shed some light on why dogs go home soiled after boarding.\r The weather has much to do with how clean your dog stays due to the fact that unlike many kennels we allow a great deal of outdoor play time. Therefore when we have a lot of rain your dog will get dirty. This is a choice on my part , I believe most dogs are happier when they are active and getting lots of stimulus. Another way dogs get soiled is by just behaving like a dog. It is not unusual for dogs to decide they need to mark their bedding. I have seen many dogs mark with urine as well as feces and promptly lie down in it as if to say this is mine. Being away from home can sometimes bring about behavior that they have never displayed at home. They can become possessive as well as territorial. \r Some dogs love nothing better than to drag the bedding and even food bowls across their waste. They are after all dogs. I often try to relate your dogs visit with us to your child going away to camp. It is our goal here to insure your dog has a great stay so like your child who comes home happy, smelly and with a bag full of dirty clothes so it is with your dog after boarding.\r \r \r While I hope this gives you a better understanding of kennels I also realize you cannot please everyone all the time. Not every kennel will be a good fit for every dog. We are more geared towards fun , activity, play, and most of all lots of love and attention. We are not the place to send your dog for sofa and t.v. time.\r In our 14 years of business we have seen hundreds of dogs with nearly all of them loving each visit and always happy to come again.\r It is our suggestion that before boarding you always visit and see the facility yourself to determine if we are the right fit for your dog. We take much pride in our sanitation process and welcome visitors.\r \r As a last thought we always recommend a bath after boarding and yes that is in addition to your boarding fee. Many kennels do include a bath with your stay , however this is also reflected in your cost per day. more

I take my cat for grooming and they are good for that. Do not board your cat or dog there! I have a sweet, elderly, fourteen year old Bichon. He weighs 14 pounds. We boarded him there for a week. When we came to pick him up he had a lot of dried poop in his tail. When I asked the receptionist how that happened. She said that one of the bigger dogs must have stepped on his tail. She then told me she didn't clean it off because we hadn't wanted him to have a bath before he went home. Small pet owners beware! more

Please be warned before boarding your animal with Dirty Dog! The boarder they use which is not located on their property in Fort Mill is so terrible that it breaks my heart that we left our beloved pet with them. The day after picking her up we had to put her to sleep. She was in unbelievable shape and couldn't even use her back legs. They called us the day we were to pick her up and told us she was covered in feces. Not sure how that would have happened if she was being taken care of properly. All the bedding we gave them for her to rest comfortably on was not even used. I wish I had read all the prior reviews before leaving her there. It is obvious after reading them that other people had terrible experiences as well. This will not bring our beloved pet back, but hopefully it will spare someone else the heartache. more

DO NOT take your animals to this boarding facility! I have had the worst experience ever with this place and will never step foot back into Dirty Dog Depot or their boarding facilities. My dog came back terribly disturbed, not to mention nasty as all hell. I also never received any of my food or treats back among other things. They ask you if you want them to give them a bath when they return but of course they want to charge you $16.00 on top of your boarding cost. If my dog is that nasty from your nasty boarding facility, I feel they should be bathing them for free before returning them! Never, never again. If you care about your animals, please keep them away from this facility. more

Pass on these people! 6/17/2014

NO NO NO! Horrible Experience. My Dogs stayed for 2 days. They were returned rank and smelled horrible. One came back with a rash. Their play beds needed to be washed when I got them back and the killer here was they did not give back to me the left overs of the 1 gallon of food I left for my dogs. They gave the excuse that the dogs ate all of it or either kicked it over so they had to keep refilling the bowl. Bull! I called them out on that and they gave me $25 bucks in return bc they knew they were wrong. It's essentially 2 companies, one is the boarder that lives near Lake Wylie where the dogs go at night and the other is the groomer and that's the Dirty Dog Depot in Fort Mill. The boarder is horrible and neither of them are on the same page with each other. Hell the boarder tried to get my business from Dirty Dog Depot when I picked my dogs up and wanted me to bypass DDD. I will never walk foot back in either locations. DDD is hurting from doing joint business with the other compa more

A new regular!! 7/13/2012

This is the best groomer ever!!! I took my long haired cat in for a wash and shave. They suggested a lion cut. Not only did he look absolutley beautiful when we picked him up, he was super happy! These guys really know how to treat pets. I love my little boy like he's one of my own children and they took care of him just like he was their own. Not to mention, the price was more than reasonable ( half the price of the huge pet chain). I have to say that I will be taking him every summer form his grooming here as well as in betweens for a wash and beautify:) Don't go any where else, This is the cleanest, nicest staffed place ever!!!! more

Very pleased! 4/10/2012

Pass this place by.... 12/27/2011

I left this groomer after they shaved off my Schnauzer's beard and gave him a very botched cut.\r \r My new groomer informed me that my dog's ears were caked with black goo from neglect and his anal glands had not been expressed in a very long, long time.\r \r My pet is a member of my family and I don't feel as though this business recognizes that. I did not observe any natual love and affection for animals from the people who work at this establishment. \r \r I would NEVER recommend this groomer. more

Very Satisfied Customer of Dirty Dog Depot 11/19/2011

My 3 golden retrievers are my only "grandchildren" Since we don't have any grandchildren our 3 goldens are it. We love them so much ....just as if they were humans! They each have different \r personalities and they are the joy of our lives. I have had them bathed and groomed at Dirty Dog Depot for several years. I wouldn't take them anywhere else. They wet them, shampoo them and rinse them 3 separate times because that is what I have asked them to do so their coats are brighter and fluffier. It takes 3\r shampoos to get the dirt and oil out of their coats. They ALWAYS remember to trim their nails and trim their feet just the way I like their feet and feathers trimmed between their nails. I know they treat them with love and care and give them as much water as they need while they are in their care. I am so embarrassed that Darcey, our oldest golden, is a little stubborn for them at times and she tips over her water dish on their floor! I've spoken to our Darcey more

LOST OUR DOG!!!! Boarded our Chihuahua for the weekend and the day we were supposed to pick her up we received a message to call. When we called we were informed that Lucy escaped and they could not catch her, a 4 lb Chihuahua. We went out to the site in Clover as soon as possible to look. The owner helped us look the first day, but for the next 3 days we were there looking and the owner was nowhere to be found. Gone for 5 days now. Lucy, we will miss you dearly. more

Satisfactory 6/14/2011

They do "satisfactory" work when it comes to your pets needs. Have used them before for pet grooming when our other groomer was booked. It was satisfactory. more

I have been going to Dirty Dog Depot for almost 5 years for cat and dog food and grooming.. I would not take my collie anywhere else in Fort Mill for her grooming. They allowed me to look around in the back to see how everything was done and always call to pick my dog up as soon as she is groomed...she becomes very nervous if caged. They are extreamly helpful with questions and concerns. more

THANKS 9/19/2009

Dear dirt dog personnel, \r just a few lines to thank you for the great shearing job you did on my border collie, because she cannot tolerate a cage you allowed me to bring her in at shearing time and stay with her during what must have been a terrifying ordeal. But you guys were great, the english lady in particular (whos name i didnt get because we british are so reserved) I was so amazed at the transformation that i neglected to leave a well deserved tip please accept the enclosed for a job very well done \r \r sincerly ,\r derek & brea more

If u wanna bad talk the dirty dog then itsd not dirty dog that has the problems its you! Sorry that picky people have to be picky! more

What would one expect? 5/22/2009

I have been a customer at Dirty Dog Depot for years. I will agree that there have been times the store didn't smell so fresh, and other times you wouldn't even know you were in a pet store. Then again what would you expect a pet store to smell like when there are a bunch of dogs and cats inside getting bathed and groomed?! Like I said I have been a customer there for years and will continue to be for many more, my dog always comes home looking and smelling great! more
