We've used Dirsmith Construction for about ten years, including building a screen porch, totally remodelling our kitchen, putting in a new driveway, putting in hardwood floors, remodeling the basement into a usable office/workspace, and more.) The major remodeling of our kitchen, eating area and utility room was completed by Dirsmith Construction. Tim Dirsmith's unique design included a tray ceiling with a sky light over a ""floating"" wall of cabinets that separated the three areas. The look is both dramatic and practical. Tim was always available to assist in choosing flooring, counter tops, back splash design, etc. The work was completed as scheduled and within our budget. Not only was the quality of the construction team's work excellent, they did their best to minimize our inconvenience and maintain a clean as possible environment. Tim remodelled our kitchen for us as our first project. He met with us, made a plan, went shopping with us for whatever we needed, shared his considerable design expertise and oversaw the project. His workmen, led by Bob, were genuinely nice guys who expertly executed their jobs in a timely and unobtrusive fashion. Everything went flawlessly and as quickly as you could imagine. There was very little disruption in our normal routine or throughout the house. We have never had workmen be so neat and considerate. Our next project is going equally as well, and I'm sure there will be more in the future. Whatever we need, Tim has someone who can do it. After using another contractor for many years, we hired Dirsmith Construction to replace our front porch and walkway. It was a painstaking job, involving removal of concrete that took days. Frederico had the patience of a saint and the dexterity of a surgeon in the laying of the new tile. The project turned out beautifully. Next, we had them refinish our floors. They came and moved our furniture, we went out of town for 4 days, and when we came back, the floors were beautifully done and everything was back where it was supposed to be. We blinked and the whole project was done. We have since had them do interior painting and trim work, as well as hang some new light fixtures and fans. All of their employees have been professional, thorough, and (while a seemingly small thing) have done a great job of cleaning everything up so it looked like they had never been there. Tim plays a crucial role in helping conceptualize your project and gently nudging you in the direction he thinks you should at least consider. Dirsmith Construction created a new kitchen in our house during the fall of 2009. The entire project went extremely well from demolition to final touches. The extensive work which included electrical, dry walling plumbing, flooring, HVAC, carpentry, and painting was completed on time and on budget with no surprises. The workmen were craftsmen that genuinely cared about quality and took pride in their work. They became invaluable consultants sharing their years of experience as the project progressed. There were countless subtle decisions to be made, and they were there to help my wife and me with every one of them. Tim began the creative process during the initial meeting. Using his vast database of architectural details and construction experience, he generated design options that were unique to our project. He provided a detailed plan along with rendered digital photos that gave us an idea of how the finished project might look. In addition, Tim assisted with every design decision including paint color. He guided us through the cabinet ordering and granite selection processes. That alone was invaluable. As the project progressed, he presented new design options as they availed themselves. Following Tim?s recommendations, we made changes throughout the project that definitely made the kitchen better. Essentially, Tim envisions a design and he doesn?t rest until he is happy with the final result. Now that?s peace of mind for the home owner. After four full months of using our new kitchen, it keeps getting better every day. I also hired Dirsmith Construction to perform structural repairs to reinforce the support for a fireplace hearth. Again, I was impressed with their knowledge and craftsmanship. Being a structural engineer, I sketched up a plan detailing how I wanted the work to be done, but I didn?t show it to the worker. Instead, I let him walk me through his ideas for the structural repair while I just listened. His ideas agreed with every detail on my plan down to the last 2x4. We hired Dirsmith construction to repipe our house and renovate our master bathroom. Of all of the contractors we talked to, Tim was the only one who was willing to think outside the box (e.g. moving walls, moving HVAC ducting, moving toilet, etc.). Tim's ultimate design took into account everything we asked for. The folks who did the work - Frederico in particular - were absolutely meticulous in their execution. They paid attention to every detail and were very nice and friendly on top of it. What I really appreciated is that everyone at Dirsmith construction takes full advantage of modern technology to stay in the loop. They text each other (and you), they email, they call. Whenever we had a question we could ask anybody and they'd be able to get in touch with the right people and provide an answer within a few hours at most. Anytime you're dealing with an ill-defined and novel project, scheduling is going to be fluid (we're not talking 15 minute oil changes here), but Tim was very good about keeping us informed of schedule changes and delays and the whole project went VERY smoothly.
