Friendly and Thorough 2/20/2012

Thank you so much for a beautiful job on our house. The work you all did to get us on our feet again after the Labor Day '98 storm made it (almost) worthwhile. All your help and customer service was greatly appreciated. Thank you for attention to detail and great results more

Dealing with Dimon Construction has been a breeze. They are willing to explain things and answer my stupid questions I may have. They were pretty nice to me even though Im sure I was in the was at times. more

I question their Ethics 8/9/2011

I was considering Dimon Construction in Manlius, NY, so I started doing a web search to learn more about the company. This was a couple of months ago. At that time, most of the reviews I saw were mediocre at best, and some of the reviews were extremely negative. The negative reviews all talked about a general lack of responsiveness from the company once papers were signed and the job was started. I was out of town for a couple of months, so I started my research again this month. All of a sudden, the web is populated with all of these super-positive reviews about Dimon Construction. I investigated further, and it seems like almost all of these super-positive reviews were “written” in June and July of this year. I counted 15 very positive reviews all published within the past two months. How many small business contractors have 15 jobs completed inside of two months? My guess is none. I then clicked on some of the “reviewers” who were praising Dimon Construction in Manlius, NY. It appears that the bulk of those reviewers also reviewed a particular bridal shop and a roofing contractor – all on the same day. The bridal shop and roofing contractor were in the New York City/Long Island area, but Dimon Construction is in Manlius, NY, a suburb of Syracuse, a good 5 hours away from New York City. So - - - what are the odds that Dimon Construction did 15 jobs in the past two months, and every single customer had rave reviews? What are the odds that these same 15 customers also had a need to buy a wedding dress, and then replace their roof, all within a couple of months? I believe the odds of this are ZERO and that Dimon Construction has hired a company to post FAKE REVIEWS of their business. I'm sooo glad I figured this out before I hired this company. I just can't trust them if they are posting fake reviews to deceive potential customers. What would they do if left alone in my home while I'm at work??? more

Proud of my Kitchen! 7/20/2011

Dimon Construction really helped my vision come to life when they completed my kitchen remodel! Now my kitchen is updated and more convenient than ever. I love having people over to my home so I can show off the amazing work that Dimon completed. more

Enjoyed doing business with Dimon 4/20/2011

Paul & Jeff of Dimon Construction did a great job. The craftsmanship, attention to detail... all terrific. I appreciated their help coordinating everything - and finding exactly the counter I was looking for. I can't say enough about how much I like my laundry room, closet organizers, new bath vent/toilet and perfectly painted walls. Really nice people to work with, I enjoyed doing business with Dimon Construction! more

Great Work 4/14/2011

The shower faucet replacement went beautifully. When Kevin finished, you couldn’t tell the hall wall had ever been disturbed to gain access. The old valve assembly must have been somewhat clogged because it now delivers more volume - an unexpected bonus. I recommend Dimon Construction without hesitation. more

12 months later - more problems 10/20/2008

Good: The overall project did turn out nice - but their poor customer service skills made the process almost unbearable.. Bad: They seldom return phone calls, they threw away two of our window screens, promissed to replace them, and never did.. Improvements: I would like to see them put 1/2 as much effort into satisfying existing customers, as they do advertising for new customers.. more

Dimon Construction, Fayetteville, NY 13066 9/11/2007

We worked with this company in 2006. Good quality - but buyer beware. Overall, I would say the quality of their work is very good, but their customer service is terrible. Their owner is one person when he has his "sales hat" on, and a different person when he has his "business owner hat" on. The owner was very friendly and accommodating during the sales process, but once the job started we hardly ever saw him. His company had many different ordering errors or measurement errors, which was bad enough, but then they tried to charge us for their mistakes. We got the sense that due to their mistakes, they tried to "make up" their lost profit in other parts of the job. For example, we wanted to add an additional light fixture - no big deal right? Wrong, they wanted to charge us $400 for a different light fixture, when Edward Joy Lighting Company would sell us the fixture directly for $90. We ended up purchasing it directly and installed it ourselves. We asked about painting one additional wall adjacent to the work area, the wall wasn't more than 10' wide, but they quoted us $500 to paint the wall. Again, we simply did it ourselves. Finally, the communication was very poor. We would call with a question on a Monday, call again on Wednesday, send an e-mail follow-up on Friday, and if we were lucky we would hear from them the following Friday. Even though their "pitch" is that they don't use any subcontractors, this was not always the case. If there was ever a problem with one of the subcontractors, they would many times tell us to call the subcontractor directly. I'm sorry - but we hired YOU not the subcontractor. There were some good qualities about the company, primarily their workers. Their workers were always professional, always cleaned up after themselves, and I never heard them swear or tell off-color jokes, which is a plus because we have three young children at home. We are happy with the quality of their work, but I don't think we would hire them again because their quality control is not what I would expect. Their prices were the HIGHEST of the three contractors we interviewed, and we mistakenly thought that the highest price meant the highest quality and attention to customer service. This was not the case. For all of the headaches we had to put up with, we probably would have felt better if we hired the lowest bidder. At least then we would have been compensated for all of the aggravation. more
