I came here to find some fast desserts for a cocktail party, little did I know they had a very small selection. Did not impress me at all. Better yet, they were pretty pricey for the kind of sweets they had. more

The best burnt almond cake by far 10/13/2007

I was first introduced to Dick's burnt almond cake several years ago and was instantly hooked. It is simply the best flavors you've ever tasted. And I am a chocolate lover, there is no chocolate in this cake. I buy it for special occasions and I love serving it to people for the first time, their expressions are wonderful to see! more

BURNT ALMOND CAKE -- 'nuff said 9/27/2007

The reason you can't miss this bakery is the Burnt Almond Cake. You absolutely, positively cannot get a better cake anywhere, any time, period. Go with the original white cake -- and order one twice as big as you need, because people will want seconds (and you'll want the leftovers). Utterly to die for. (Disclaimer: If you're one of those odd people who do not like frosting, you may not like it quite as much -- the cake is light, fluffy and delicious, but the filling and frosting are what make this cake phenomenal.) Not Just Burnt Almond Cake! 2/23/2007

We sometimes forget that there is more to Dick's than their famous Burnt Almond Cake! Their pastries and coffee rings are absolutely delicious! We also recently had their cupcakes... which were yummy.... especially the white cake with buttercream icing. We also really love their hot-cross buns. Always worth the drive and the lines first thing in the morning or near holidays. more

Burnt Almond Cake - simply the best 12/6/2006

Whenever we want to buy cake in our family we don't think twice. The burnt almond cake (plain) at Dick's bakery is just the best cake there is. Pros: Very very good cake. Low prices on ""yesterday's cake"" that you can call to reserve. Cons: Not a lot of choices ... but who needs them more

Known for the BEST Burnt Almond Cake 10/26/2006

D's Bakery is known thru-out Silicon Valley for the BEST Burnt Almond cake! It comes in chocolate and marbled, but the white is my favorite. All of their cakes are fresh and moist, but the Burnt Almond is to die for! It is a combination of being light, but sweet, but not overly rich. Gotta go get some now... Pros: Very busy place Cons: Call in your order ahead to save time more

The Best Burnt Almond Cake In Town!!!!!! 9/18/2006

Well I use to work next door to Dick's Bakery Years ago. My mother in law use to come vist us once in a while, then one time she said she wanted something sweet so I asked my boss at the time what he woulkd suggest, and he said a cake from next door. So I went to go and order one and I ended up getting a Burnt Almond Cake because it was different. When I took it home, and finally had a chance to eat it she loved it so much that now we are no longer related, when she comes to visit her grandchildren I make sure she has one, because if I don't I will be going at the last minuet to buy one. PROS: The only place where you can get a great cake that everyone will love!!! CONS: A little bit expensive!! more

Yummy cakes and pastries 7/24/2006

A huge pink box of Dick's sweet rolls is a family tradition for us twice a year when the family house packs at the beach. We bring these all the way from San Jose to Aptos - that's how much we love them. I used to work near Dick's as well and so often bought cakes for birthday celebrations at work. I agree with Debbie G. - burnt almond is a favorite. But chocolate with chocolate frosting is must-try as well! more

I know that Dick's is known for its burnt almond cake, but have your tried their orange chiffon? It is out of this world! It melts in your mouth and explodes with flavor. Try it for a change. more

Best Burnt Almond Cake 7/14/2006

Dick's Bakery has been around forever! They have a famous Burnt Almond Cake which is frequently requested by my family members who live outside San Jose. There cakes are light and moist. Their cakes and pastry are more traditional in style, you won't find a lot of new-style gourmet cakes and pastries. PROS: great burnt almond cake! CONS: more

Burnt Almond Cake! 8/9/2005

Dick's is famous for it's Burnt Almond Cake - oh my goodness, it's a little bit of heaven. You can buy a full or half sheet. Wonderful for a birthday party. The cake is like nothing you've ever tasted before. You have to order ahead of time and they'll add names/decorations to the cake. They also sell pastries, etc. but people go for the almond cake alone. Plus, if they have some leftover from the day before, they sell it at a discount price. more
