This place is flat out horrible! I've been taking my dog there for the last 10 years but never again. They have always been overpriced but it was close to my house and the place is very clean. But i was lied to not once not twice but 3 times by these people! Incompetent doesn't begin to explain the level of service I have received over the last 2 years. If you love your pets as i love my please go to a different Vet.These vets and nurses are a sophisticated and well trained band of thieves. \r more

Wonderful place! We have been taking our German Shepard puppy here since we got her and we love them! The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. Once we had to take Jade in because she had been having really bad diarrhea and she had an accident in my car on our trip over. The staff voluntarily cleaned up my car! I told them that it wasn't necessary and that I could do it when I got home, but they insisted! So very sweet. \r It can be a tad on the expensive side, but they give you options that work with your budget. When Jade had that diarrhea they offered us solutions and let us pick based on what we felt comfortable paying. \r \r We love DAH and will never take our baby anywhere else! more

The doctors, staff, and boarding crew are top notch here. They may not be the least expensive in the area, but you get what you pay for -- and they're comparably priced to others where I've had good experiences. I've seen most of the doctors here, with Dr. Scott being the primary for one very sick cat of mine. She's been fantastic helping me with my cat. I absolutely recommend them. more

I highly recommend this vet clinic to everyone! We took our JRT here right after Ike because she was so sick and our other vet office in League City was not open due to no power. I knew Dr. Scott from the other clinic in League City and so we felt comfortable going there. We decided to stay with them and have never regretted that decision. They saw us through the loss of our JRT that we had for over 14 years with such care and compassion that I could not thank them enough. We have seen all the vets at this clinic and they are all superior. What we pay for vet care at this clinic is about the same as the other clinic we went to previously. You get what you pay for and what they give is compassionate and care you can trust. We now have 2 dogs that are 2 years old and they have been going here since they were 10 weeks old. I would not take them anywhere else. more

Great Vet with Money Hungry Staff 12/21/2011

The good: Dr. Robin Scott is a very knowledgeable and friendly ferret vet. The bad: The office staff that takes care of billing are the most cut throat people I have ever met. Background: Trip 1: Took in my two new ferrets, they got their shots (rabies 24 per ferret and distemper 32 per ferret) and got on revolution (59 for 3 doses) because they had ear mites. When we went to pay they gave us a discount on exam (50 per ferret instead of 69) because they saw two of them at once, the lady up front got in a huge argument with the nurse in front of us because they aren't suppose to give discounts apparently. Our total was just shy of $300 and the vet told us they would need 1 more distemper booster in 2 weeks. Before leaving we got a quote for the distemper boosters due in 2 weeks, they told use it would be 32 per shot, 41 to check both ferrets ears for mites, and no exam fee [~$105]. Trip 2: Upon arrival we sought clarification on the price because we had heard from friends that they change the prices on you and don't honor verbal quotes. Luckily we checked before the visit and not after, they told us that it would be 32 per shot, 41 per ferret to check ears, and 69 per ferret for the exam fee [~$284]. The price had almost trippled since the original quote. They would not honor the price they told us because they said it wasn't in our ""notes"" on the file so my wife refused everything but the shots. They took her in the back and made her wait 30 minutes, finally a nurse came in and administered the shots. When my wife asked why the vet wasn't giving the shots she was told ""because you refused to pay the vet exam fee."" To top it all off, as she was checking out they told her that the ferrets needed a third distemper booster. If you want to go here, be warned: no service is free or discounted and get everything in writing. more

In all honesty, I WOULD recommend you go there 9/12/2011

If you want your pet treated with compassion then the dollar amount won't be an issue. They treat my pet as if he is the only one there when we go to see them. Unfortunately, if you want good care you will have to pay for it. I for one, will never take my pet somewhere where they are not good to my pet just to save a buck! Client for life! more

In all honesty I can't recommend you go there. 9/8/2011

They are good to your pet but will really overcharge you. Read the reviews and take heed. more

Stay away from this place! 3/28/2011

Worst vets in the area and the most expensive! more

Be picky about your vet. 10/18/2010

I have been a client of DAH for several years now. I found them after an unfortunate accident left one of my cats needing surgery on his leg and foot and although they were quite expensive, they did an EXCELLENT job repairing him. \r Since then, I have taken all of my pets here when ever the need arose. Generally, I take them to SNAP for their yearly vaccinations and HW checks, but for ailments- DAH has never let me down. My pets are my kids, and I would not subject them to a second class vet for anything.\r \r I adore Dr. Honeycutt and will wait for an appointment with her or Dr. Vaughn. I have not had a good experience with Dr. Scott, as her ""bedside"" manner needs some work. She came close to belittling me when I told her that my dogs were a few weeks late on their HW meds....I also do rescue work, so I know the importance of proper HW care, I do not need to be lectured!\r \r I am giving DAH 4 stars instead of 5 due to to Dr. Scott. But given the opportunity, see Dr. Honeycutt and/or Dr. Vaughn...they deserve all five stars!! more

You Do NOT get what you pay for 8/27/2010

Summary: Dickinson Animal Hospital Was Charging me $68 a WEEK for a treatment for my dog that when I went to another vet for a second opion they charged me $25 fo the exact same treatment!\r \r I know the saying is you get what you pay for but in the case of Dickinson animal hospital this is NOT true. They will not approve requests to buy dog medication online unless you pay THEM $25 PER PRESCRIPTION AND REFILL!!! Which I found out is against the American Veternarian Code of Ethics.\r \r They also told me that I needed to have 4 tumors removed from my dog so that they could ""test them for cancer"" to the tune of $2500!!!! 2nd opionion vet said NO WAY and tested them all by drawing fluids from the tumors and testing them for $50. (They were all negative and didn't require any surgery at all).\r \r This is the worst money pit of a vet out there and I am so angry that after five years of taking all three of our dogs there they would continue to try to squeeze every last penny out of me when I need large amounts of medication and care for my aging dog. \r \r Unless you just like to throw away money I would never recommend this vet to anyone! more

HEDGERS 5/24/2010

MY DAUCHUND HAD HEART WORMS DR. Kettler and DR. Vaughn assured me that they could do a surgical procedure to remove the heart worms, when i asked them what were her chances of making it through the surgery they said she has a 75% chance and that they were confident that they could remove the worms and get her well, they failed to tell me that this was a very risky surgery and that more dogs die from this surgery than live,2 hrs. later they called me and told me hedgers was dead they said that she didn't die during the surgery, she died in recovery due to respretory distress(BULL) I don't believe that for one minute, I think they knew she wouldn't make it and that they could collect 1,284.00 from me which was what they charged me. I feel like if they were honest people they would refund my money I feel like they played on me because they knew I was willing to do anything just to save her, I have since researched this surgery and have found that it is a very risky surgery and that more dogs die from it than live, had i known this i could have taken her home loved her keep her comfortable and let her pass in her own home instead of a cold vet hosp. alone. I have fell into a deep depression over this and missed a week of work over it. They should be ashamed, people love their amimals like they love their kids.LOST WITHOUT HEDGERS!!!! Cons: THEY ARE RIP OFFS AND NOT TRUTHFUL more

Worst Veterinary Care in the area 6/23/2008

I took my two dogs to this clinic for years and trusted them completely. One of my dogs died from sepsis after surgery there at the age of 9. I know that is where he got it. Half the time you call after 4 there are no veterinarians there only techs and on most visits you only see a tech and not a veterinarian. Run away from this place as quickly as possible if they suggest surgery. Please take your animals for a second opinion or to a true veterinary surgeon so you don't suffer the pain of watching your dog die painfully from sepsis or bad treatment. Cons: Veterinarians rarely available, too surgery happy more

Great Compassion for Animals 10/10/2007

After living in Santa Fe for 3 years we found our former vet indifferent to our dog Fritz due to his breed. Fritz is a Staffordshire Terrier. When problems developed with his rear legs we took him to see Dr Kettler and he was very accomodating towards Fritz and recommended surgery for his knee. The surgery was performed and Fritz has shown great imporvment. Every time we visit the entire staff welcomes him and has commented on his very gentle demeanor. I would recommend Dickinson Animal Hospital to anyone. Pros: Great Staff, Knowledgeable Doctors, Accepting of all pets Cons: Non more

Great doctors; so-so front office. It's improving, so I'm changing my review! 9/14/2007

I have been a loyal customer of D.A.H. for years. I love the doctors. They care, they're involved, and they're the first vets my dogs haven't been terrified of. I originally ranked this as a 2. I'm changing it to a 4. I gave them another chance, and they made me a believer again. I really like the place. The front office people were the ones I was having issues with. Now they seem to be caring, compassionate, and very willing to help. \r \r Can't stress enough how awesome the doctors are there. Really compassionate and really care. I still have some front office or telephone issues with them from time to time, but for the most part I recommend them highly. Pros: Incredibly devoted doctors, understanding, compassionate, and educated Cons: Front office/reception area employees are a coin toss. Some great, some not so. more
