I found Destenee salon because I work for UNC and got a discount there. It's always a risk to try to try a new salon b/c you want the perfect fit with your stylist...and i have found just that in Brenda, the only person i trust with my hair now! she is Fantastically-funny, and talented, does what you ask her to and not what she thinks you should get! the atmosphere there is also very relaxing and who else serves wine during your haircut? i'm sad i'm moving out of state again and have to find someone else to try to compare with Brenda! Worth the drive to me! 10/13/2008

I live in Raleigh, but found this salon on here. After reading the reviews, I decided to drive a little further to see what the buzz was all about. I was a little nervous at first, so when I offered a glass of wine and gladly accepted. They put my mind at ease quickly. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. My stylist took me back and asked what I wanted to do, after I told her she made a couple of suggestions and we settled on what to do. I could tell you all of the great things about this salon, but I think the main point is that I felt comfortable, I got a great color and cut and left happy. I will certainly be back and would recommend this place to anyone considering it. Thank you, Lisa and the rest of you at Destenee Salon! Pros: Beautiful Decor, friendly people, great service more

New to town, but found my new salon 10/7/2008

I found this salon here on citysearch and went here because of the reviews. I am happy to say that the reviews were very accurate. It is truely a beautiful place and the staff was extremely nice. I got a great color and cut and actually rebooked in four weeks. This is significant for me as I have never been one to plan for my hair services. I am now a loyal client to Destenee Salon. If you are reading this.....don't go! I don't want to hav to compete with you for appointment times! ;) Pros: Nice people, pretty place more

I love this place! 9/30/2008

I went here and got my hair done after trying to find somewhere close by that I could trust. I read the reviews and decided to go to this one. I thought that with all of the good reviews, they must be doing something right. I found out quick what everyone is raving about. The salon is BEAUTIFUL! She listened to what I wanted and made a few suggestions. After we agreed on what she was gooing to do, she took me to the shampoo room. She gave an incredible shampoo and explained to me what she was using and why. After that she went over the cut with me again and asked if that was still what I had in mind and I said yes. She got it right and even showed me how to style it when I got home. They use a product line I have never heard of and can't remember, but I'll be going back and I will be buying it. That stuff was great! Thanks to everyone at Destenee Salon and Spa, I'll see you guys again soon! Pros: BEAUTIFUL! more

Men's Brazilian 9/24/2008

My wife got a Brazilian wax and since she did, she insisted I did too. I could not find ANYONE that provided this service in the area and believe me I called just about everywhere. I found this place on craigslist advertising that they provided them. I scheduled an appointment and requested a massage first. They were booked up for massage but they recommended a back and chest facial instead. That was better than any massage I ever had. The Brazilian was not exactly relaxing, but no where near as painful as I thought it would be. It was definitely bearable. Thank you Toni, I almost gave up, but I'm glad I didn't. A Great Hair Day! 9/23/2008

I have really curly, coarse hair... and Sometimes I like to wear it straight and smooth.... And I have a lot of trouble with that! So I saw Brenda.... She blew my hair out smooth and silky in half the time it would have taken me to do it! I loved it and she was so nice and fun to talk to! I got so many compliments from my friends and family, and I WILL have Brenda do my hair again! The best part is it lasted longer too! Pros: No more FRIZZ! Cons: That I can't Have her do my hair every morning when I get ready at home!!!!! more

Great Brazilian! 9/19/2008

I read an advertisement claiming an almost painless Brazilian. I called and made an appointment immediately because as anyone that has had one before knows, they can be quite painful! Toni was the best ever! I wouldn't call it painless, but it was close. This was definitely the least painful Brazilian I ever had. She used a different wax than I've ever seen, but I think it was more about how quick she was and the pressure applied after that was most helpful. I will only go here and only see Toni from now on! Almost painless back wax! 9/15/2008

I have had been a few different places to get my back waxed and they have all been about the same. I went here and it was no where near as painful as the others. I asked what they did different and she said that they use a different wax. All I know is this is where I'll go from now on. Pros: almost painless back wax more

Awesome deep tissue massage 9/14/2008

I called in looking for a deep tissue massage. It was actually much better than any massage I had received in the past. He was able to get down deep in the tissue and actually explained what and why he was doing what he was doing. I left feeling much better than when I walked in and I slept really well last night. I would highly recommend this place. Everyone was so nice and it is a very beautiful place. Pros: Great massage, nice people, beautiful place. more

This was my first visit to the salon and I absolutely loved it!!! Everyone is professional and friendly. I wanted to try a new style and Jen did an awesome job of counseling me as to what was best for my fine hair with the shape of my face. I must say I love my new style and I love Jen for helping me find the right style for me!!! Thanks Girl!! more

hair and nails 9/12/2008

I came in just the other day for a day at the spa. I first got my nails done by Stacey. It was very enjoyable. She gave me a full set of acrylic and free handed a design on them. She rocked them out. The pedicure was very relaxing. Great Job Stacey. Then I moved on to Ms. Jennifer Browning whomed did my color and highlights. She did excatly what i wanted and i was very pleased. First time visit, I'll be a regular! 9/6/2008

I called around to see if I can get a massage the last minute. This salon was the only one that would accomidate me. I was hesitant at first, because evryone else was "booked up", I wondered why there was an opening. They explained to me that the other places have someone on call only, but they actually have somone on staff full-time. My experience was the best I ever had, the massage therapist was wonderful. It felt like his hands were melting on my back. He took all my aches and pains away I was totally relaxed and felt the best I ever had. The salon was very beautiful and everyone made me feel welcome. I highly recommend this salon and spa to everyone, especially if you are a last minute planner like me! I will be going back. Pros: Got me in same day! Cons: None more

I love this place! 9/3/2008

I had never heard of yonka before, but I'm glad I have now! I went to Destenee salon and spa for a facial and got an introduction to yonka. They used these products on me during the facial and they smelled wonderful. Imagine my surprise when I realized that they actually work too. After my facial the girl made recommendations on what to take home, I was skeptical, but they smelled so good I decided to give it a try. They work great! Thank you for a wonderful facial and teriffic products! Get a facial and buy this stuff, you won't be disappointed! Pros: Great service, great products Cons: none more

Still loving it 9/2/2008

All-in-all, this is a good salon to get a quick cut that is stylish. My latest stylist, Jennifer, was quick, effective, and personable. As for the other services, I have not tried them because of the price. I go elsewhere for those. However, this doesn't mean you shouldn't try it out. Check it out! Pros: quick appt.s, convenient, located next to tanning salon Cons: cut prices are reasonable, all other services are not more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! 9/1/2008

I've been in cosmotology before and worked in a couple hair salons so i sometimes find it hard to find the right person to do my hair and a salon i feel comfortable in. This salon is so wonderful decorated and everyone looks so professional!! I love coming here and wish I could just get my hair done everyday, My stylist is Brenda and I dont believe I'll ever go to anyone else! She does a wonderful job and always does my highlights just how i want them. Its a big plus that they serve wine here also :) This salon is such a great place to be and their receptionist Wendy is wonderful and is always so polite and smiling when you come through the door!! I just want to say thanks for being a great salon!! :) Pros: staff, atmosphere, service, prices!!! Cons: havent seen any yet!! more

I went to Destenee salon to have my hair done, Brenda did a wonderful job. She put in highlights and gave a great cut. I am very funny over my hair, but with Brenda I did not have to worry. She listened to what I wanted and did just that. The atmosphere was great the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I have findly found a place that I could go and feel like the day was all about me. I will definately refer everyone to the salon and spa! It was a wonderful experience. Warm and Friendly - the place and the person - Abby is wonderful 8/24/2008

If you want to get your hair cut or colored by someone you can trust and also by someone who will actually listen to you, then go to Destinee and ask for Abby. Abby has a wonderful laugh and smile and is always upbeat and light in her attitude. Best of all, she listens. Actually listens to what you want. And if you need a change, she'll work with you and do whatever she can to make sure you are happy. And she is genuine in her desire to make you look and feel really good. I truly enjoy seeing Abby and know that I will feel great about my hair when I leave the salon. Great Hair color from Bobbie 8/23/2008

My gray has been coming in slowly, but surely. I always said that I didn't care what color it turns as long as it doesn't turn lose, but it was getting to the point of being mostly gray. I didn't want anything ecentric, just cover the gray and make it look natural. That is exactly what I got. I hate that I waited so long, I look about ten years younger! Thanks Bobbie, I'll be back! I was reluctant about the reviews when I read about the 'payment' to write a review. Then the more reluctant with the atmosphere once I arrived. Sometimes you should just pay attention to your initial reactions I suppose. I have had better experiences elsewhere. I woudl say for a spa it is alright but that's about all.
