Editorial review from Citysearch 10/7/2013

One of the Best in the City, if not the Best. \r \r I've been going to Dessau Vet for over twenty years, and trust them COMPLETELY. Drs. Campbell and Waage have taken great care of my dogs and cats, saving my cat Isabel's life when most would have given up on her, helping with suffering ex-puppymill dogs, diagnosing problems that others missed, and generally making everyone who comes in feel welcome and part of the family. Dr. Campbell even came out to my house when my beloved dog Clancy had to be put down. I absolutely recommend Dessau Veterinary to anyone looking for a vet in Austin. more

If you can not keep your appointments, you should CLOSE! 12/5/2011

I got to the appointment with my sick pet early to fill out the paperwork and to respectfully be on time. I waited 45 minutes and decided that if they are not competent enough to keep their appointments, I do not trust them with my beloved pet. It is stressful to take off work, get you sick pet into the pet carrier, show up, and to be treated this way. Please work on your customer service and scheduling. more

NEVER EVER AGAIN 12/1/2010

I have never written a review before. However my experience was so bad that I cannot just sit back and not give it a bad rating. The absolute worst customer service and I was even seen by the owner. The treatment and medications did not even work either. Cannot stress enough how much i recommend NOT going here. Save yourself the frustration. more

Not Returning 10/14/2010

I was right on time for my first appointment here. It was an okay facility. Waited about 45 minutes before the Dr actually came into the room. I felt very rushed. I could tell she was very well experienced, just not great with people. The staff was friendly, but the vet seemed proud that her staff thinks she is a ""hag"". Hmmmm...\r \r One of my dog's ears was a little red. She pulled out the hairs and explained that when I take her to the groomer, they have to pull out the hairs in their ears (breed specific issue).\r \r The gentleman that took her blood seemed to jab into my dog's neck several times, on each side of her throat. My dog is super sweet and tough as nails but was being restrained way more than ever. Finally, he was able to take blood from her leg.\r \r She did address this with the gentleman and he did apologize. He was very kind and sincere.\r \r She prescribed some ear drop meds for the redness and called it an infection. I have had dogs with infections before - they scracth at their ears a lot. Mine wasn't. The ear drops cost $60.\r \r Trusting my own intuition, I kept an eye on my dog. It has been three weeks. The redness went away almost immediately and she still does not show signs of discomfort or pain or irritation in her ear. I still have the medicine, never once used it. She did not even look inside her ear with a light and a scope or anything. She banked.\r \r I will gladly drive 45 minutes to our old vet in the future. I will not go back to this one because I do not trust her or her staff. more

Best Vet! 4/17/2010

I love the folks over at Dessau Vet Clinic. I've taken a number of pets there, including my sometimes problematic dachshund. They've always answered my questions thoroughly and shown great patience when he sometimes makes a mess on their floor (sorry guys). I'm lucky to have them located within a few minutes of my house, but they're worth the drive for anyone in the Austin area. Pros: Friendly, helpful staff more
