I've taken my dog to Carol at Der Pet Haus for more than 10 years. My dog has a nervous personality, but she is well cared for when she is there...plus she looks adorable whenever I pick her up. I would highly recommend Carol for Portuguese Water Dogs. more

We have been going to Der Pet Haus for many years to get our springer spaniel groomed, our sweet dog Charlie (mixed airdale and golden) and now our Newfoundland. With each pet, Keith has done an excellent job grooming and caring for our dogs. The newfie needed a lot of extra attention. When we picked her up, she was beautifully groomed and happy. Thank you for always doing a great job with our dogs! more

WARNING!!! My sister took her Golden Doodle to be groomed today for the first time. He still has his puppy coat, but a few areas of matting that needed to be groomed out. Six hours later, she went to pick him up and Der Pet Haus had completely shaved him (including whiskers and eyebrows) except for his ears and tail. UNBELIEVABLE!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!! more

I called to see if they'd be able to do a good cut for a Japanese Chin and the man I spoke to was really stand-offish. He acted like it was some posh uber-chic salon that only celebs took their dogs to. He said they were booked solid but may be able to squeeze me in thursday. I said I wasn't sure if I had that time available and was checking to see if they'd even be able to do a proper cut for a Chin. Most salons don't even know what the breed is. He then went on about how and why it's not a popular breed and just said. ""well..we can trim them..soo...yeah."" Not impressed. more

I've been taking my dogs to Der Pet Haus for more than 20 years. Carol's skills with a pair of scissors is unbelievable. If you want your dog to look like a ""show dog"", she's the groomer of choice. I've sent many friends to her over the years and we all agree that she's got it! You can't go wrong at Der Pet Haus. Great people, great service and great prices. more

My husband and I bring our gigantic Newfoundland ""Motley"" here for grooming and all-over cutting/shaving of his coat. We couldn't be more thrilled with the job they do! He comes back extremely clean, coat evenly shaved/cut, and always happy. \r \r Once I brought him to another groomer in Bellevue (who I will not mention) because Der Pet Haus was booked out for a few weeks and didn't have enough time (it takes several hours to groom Motley) to fit him in sooner. What a mistake that was. They charged me $60 more than what I pay at Der Pet Haus and did a terrible job. The the fur around his feet and behind his ears was still matted, and he wasn't even clean! Keith treated my standard poodle very well and gave him a great haircut.\r I chose Der Pet Haus because people kept noting how calm and happy their dogs were after being groomed. It is more important that the dog is not traumatized than he have the perfect haircut. \r Luckily with Keith, I didn't have to choose and got a calm AND beautifully groomed dog. \r I will continue to come back based on my good experience. I took my dog there to get her nails dremmelled. They took her in the room with the window, but to the right of the door so I could not see her. She came back limping and bruised. That limp turned into a torn cruciate ligament and very expensive TPLO surgery. \r \r I do feel that if the dog is so uncooperative that it's hurting itself, rather than restrain as harshly as they did, they should have just refused to do the service. \r \r In all fairness, I brought the intial vet bill (before the expensive torn cruciate was diagnosed) along with pictures of the bruising across my dogs stomach to Keith and he apologized and paid for it. That was handled as professionally as I could expect. \r \r Still, I will never take any of my dogs there again. Cons: Dogs may be harshly restrained. more

I've been taking my two dogs to Keith at Der Pet Haus for quite awhile and have never been disappointed. Before finding Keith and Der Pet Haus, I took my dogs to another grooming establishment on Main street in Bellevue. I was never happy with the way they groomed or treated my dogs. My dogs never had the same groomer and the cut was always inconsistent. I have a particular type of dog who require a certain cut and for someone experienced, it should be very easy. Keith is the only groomer I have found who understands how to groom my dogs. It's also such a relief to know that when I drop my dogs off for the day, that they'll be treated well. My dogs are always happy going in and happy and beautiful coming out. It truly is the best! Pros: qualified groomers, great price, happy dogs Cons: hard to book short notice but worth the wait! more

I took our dog to Der Pet Haus based on the reviews here. Our dog looks terrible, and she has 2 cuts into her skin! I have already made an appointment with our old groomer to fix the mess left by Der Pet Haus. Her wounds will just have to heal with time. I've been taking my dogs to Der Pet Haus for 3+ years now. They are not show dogs and have always entered and exited happily. Since they don't always enter the vet's office as confident, I can only assume that they don't have any negative associatons here. \r \r On Friday I asked about the ""hidden room"". The room with the mirrored window (which you can see through) is the washing and drying room. All dogs go in there and then all dogs go into the room with the clear window for the rest of their grooming. \r \r The quality is great, my dogs are treated well, and you can't beat the price. I have been taking my dogs to Sue at Der Pet Haus for years. She does a great job and you can tell she likes dogs. My poodle gets a beautiful hair cut and I've recommended Der Pet Haus to all my poodle and Bichon-owning friends (most use Sue but one uses Carol). twenty-five years I've had my show dogs groomed by either Keith,Carol,Sue\r who also are show handlers.\r They turn out breed cuts and trims true to the qualifications and without using\r chemicals or manipulative devices when working with the dogs. \r They are unique in specializing in breed styles and their treatment is above\r and beyond reproach in handling dogs. There are no secret windows, behind\r closed doors but a friendly atmosphere for customers who must view procedures.\r I highly recommend their services and cost that is kept to a minimal. I have been taking my 2 brussel griffons to Keith for over 2 years now. I actually got my 2nd brussel from Keith since he breeds and shows brussels. Keith shows my little brussel now and he is actually way more concerned about the care and well being of him than I can be at times and that says a lot because I treat my dogs like my own kids. I've seen him with both of my dogs and he handles them very gently, and they are always groomed really well. Keith is also very knowledgeable on any issues you may encounter with your pup, and I have always trusted any advice he has given us regarding our dogs. The below story seems a bit fabricated because if that were happening I know I wouldn't just be watching and observing from a window while that happened... Anyways, I've referred him to another friend and they've been taking their brussel to him for awhile now too and they have recycled through so many bad groomers and I know they are happy w/ him. I would like to dispute the submission by the lady who claims to have had her dog ""thrown"" on the floor. I have had Keith groom my goldens (2) for over 3 years now. He came highly recommended by a co-worker at my office who has had him groom her golden for several years before me. Further, Keith has kept my dogs at his house while on vacation and I have NEVER seen any abuse. I trust him with my four legged children just as if I would trust my two legged ones. All the workers at Der Pet Haus are very nice to the dogs they groom. I have never witnessed any bad behavior to other dogs - only remarks of how wonderful their pets look after grooming. When this groomer was recommended to me I was desperate to find someone that would take care of my children just like I would. Keith has been a godsend. I don't know what I would do without him. The most horrifying experience I have ever had with a dog grooming place! \r I saw with my own eyes, behind the little mirror glass window in the room where they groom the ""none show dogs"", how they were treating my dog! Keith (who says he is the owner of this place) was trying to comb my dog?s hair and she was not comfortable with the aggression he was using. My dog nipped at him and Keith got so upset that he very aggressively lifted my dog by her leash with his left hand off a 5 foot grooming table, and through her on the floor!!!! I was devastated to see her being treated like that! She came out of the room coughing and chocking from the pressure he caused on her neck. I can?t believe I even paid for the grooming services in advance.
