Delmonico's Seafood Grille

Went there for a Valentine's Day Dinner- decent food- the rolls are warm and the wine is pretty good- we had duck and a seafood salad. It was fine- but the reason we will not be back was the lack of service. Our waiter took our order, and then we never heard from him again until WE had to find him to get our check. When I told the manager, I never even recieved an apology - just a blank stare. A lot of potential as the atmosphere is good- but that is not how we want to spend a Saturday night. It's kinda weird to read the past reviews. That's why I felt like I had to speak up. I agree the food was great there, but the service? I'll have to disagree. I had a no real problems with the staff, matter of fact I had a great time with the staff there. I went on a Thursday night, and I think the hostess named Tiffany or something like that was very friendly and a joy to talk to. I asked to be seated in the closed off back patio, and they were more then willing to accommidate my silliness. The server, Deigo I think his name was was very attentive, and the food presentation was excellent. Sorry but I won't be returning here in the forseeable future. We have been there about 6 times which was probably 4 times too many. The first couple of times we hit-it off with a bartender who was great. The last few times have been a disaster. This place could be great, but the staff is killing it. The food is great, the location is great, the atmosphere is great...the service is very poor. And now that it isn't around the corner for me, I see no reason to go back. First off, the food was excellent. Fabulous presentation! However, what could have been an enjoyable meal was offset by the staff. The hostess didn't greet us upon arrival but instead just stared at us until we asked if we could please get a table. We were approaching our table when a waiter confronts the hostess about a seating issue. We walk back and forth several times until being seated. Instead of one waiter we had about 8 with an extreme lack of communication. Each time an item was brought to us by someone different. Each time we ordered another waiter would come and try to take an order again. We're definitely not difficult customers. Went here tonight (Wednesday 7/14) and the main dining room was almost totally empty, but we were told we would have to wait 15-20 minutes for a table. There was a conference in the back room and only 1 waiter for the main dining room and patio. Wine list was ok, but 400% markup over retail - I guess that's par for the course, but it is still a bit tough to swallow that kind of surcharge. Softshell crab was very good and presentation was very nice. Hostess and waiter were superb - very friendly and helpful.
