I visited Delancey Street Bagels in Wynnewood to have lunch at around 3pm. The store, even though it was not near closing time, was out of a large number of bagel types (my first FIVE choices were gone). Finally, someone offered to make more bagels. So I ordered a Tuscan Chicken on everything, which comes with sun dried tomatoes, pesto sauce, grilled chicken and melted marinated string cheese and clocks in at a whopping $7.25. When I got my order, all that was on my sandwich was chicken and cheese. I took it back and told the young woman at the counter that my sandwich also came with pesto sauce and sun dried tomatoes. She was very nice, but incompetent. She just looked baffled and kept looking at the sign to see if it was true then asked me what I would like her to do. I said, please send this back to the kitchen and have them put the pesto and sun dried tomatoes on it, so she does this and about 15 seconds later, I hear the kitchen guy yell over that the store is out of both of those ingredients. You don?t take orders for items that the store is out of, especially if it?s 2 out of the 4 ingredients on the sandwich. No one told me. No one asked me if I would rather have something else? You also don?t just make a sandwich with whatever you do happen to have and serve it up to a customer without ever saying anything. Poor management and communication skills on this afternoon pretty much ruined my lunch. I was very, very annoyed and frankly, a chicken and string cheese sandwich is rather dry and not very tasty.
Pros: really good food
Cons: very young staff, frequently incompetent
