Fabulous Place to Shop 5/31/2006

The Dekalb Farmer's Market is a great place to shop! They have a huge selection of fruits, veggies, meats, cheese, wine, bread, spices, etc. The prices on most things is very competitive, especially on the fruits/vegestables, specialty cheese, and spices. All of the employees are very friendly and helpful, and it is so much fun to visit. The only downside is they only take cash, check or debit cards. Overall, my favorite place to grocery shop in Atlanta. more

Variety is the Spice of Life 4/17/2006

An interesting tourist spot to bring out-of-town friends and family. One hundred forty thousand square feet of amazing variety - cheeses from around the world and French butter; an in-house bakery which bakes breads, bagels, croissants, muffins, cakes, cookies and pastries; regular and decaf coffees, organic and unroasted green coffee beans; fresh flowers and arrangements; the Pastry Bar has goodies to be enjoyed on the spot, which include fresh fruit and vegetable juices, fresh fruit salads and smoothies, hand-dipped ice creams including Haagen Daz, Ben and Jerry's and Ciao Bella, along with fresh pastries, muffins, croissants, cookies and cakes made daily; and fruits and vegetables direct from growers around the world. more

Excellent Farmer's Market 8/26/2005

The farmer's market is enormous and is a fun shopping experience. more

One of the best places to shop 8/21/2005

The greatest thing about Dekalb Farmer's Market is the cheap pastry bar...and the awesome lunch bar...and the fact that they carry any spice you could want. Granted I'm a little biased since my family used to shop there every Sunday before we moved, but the Farmer's Market really is a haven for all things international, including the workers. There are Amazon Açai juices, homemade organic chocolate chip muffins, raspberry oil, 5 different flavors of crunchy sesame sticks, live fish, cardamom for your chai, olive oil from Spain, Italy, and Greece, all for a really good price. Or, you can just stop by to practice some Tirhari. more

Best Grocery Store in Atlanta 8/19/2005

The Dekalb Farmer's Market's name is a bit of a misnomer, because it's not an outdoor, local produce market like the name implies. It's in a massive warehouse on the outskirts of Decatur which doesn't waste time worrying about refrigerators. Instead, the whole building is kept at ice box temperature. The store is similar to some of the chic organic grocery stores, like Whole Foods. But the Dekalb Farmer's Market doesn't waste time with chic, it just focuses on quality and price. It has a huge organic selection of fruits and vegetables and the best cooking materials for any kind of food. Its spices are sold in large containers and cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. The only drawback to the Market is that folks come from all over the area, and on the weekend it's a bit of a madhouse. Come early or come late. more

Farmers Market 8/18/2005

The selection here is fantastic. Sure it's no open air European market, but it feels like it's another country some times. The vegetable selection is huge and very fresh. The prices on organic food, imported food and spices is the lowest in the city. The wine and beer selection is great and they give a case discount. The fish market is huge and they have live and frozen selections. The cheese market is perfect for setting up a little cocktail party. more

good food 8/17/2005

Dekalb Farmers Market has some of the best selection of produce and foods in Atlanta. It carries fine products from around the world. They carry fresh, and many times organic produce. All of their baked goods use organic ingredients, and you can find a table with day old goods on them for 20-50% off. They also have a good beer and wine selection. Their deli meats are aobut $1/lb. cheaper than in a regular grocery store. They also have a great cafe, where you pay per pound, so you can get just a little bit of everything and try it, which is what I like to do. The only downside I think is that they don't accept credit cards. more

amazing place to shop 8/4/2005

If you wanna cook it, they'll probably have a piece of the recipe. The place is huge, HUGE! The produce selection is probably the best in the city, and the deli/meat/seafood isn't far off. The dry goods needs major help, compared to Harry's in marietta, but thats another review. for anyone within the perimeter, this is by far the best store. Quality can be shaky sometimes, as can the huge crowds...but nothing like an early morning shoppin trip with loads of fresh everything. more
