Can't believe I'm the first to write a review. C'mon guys, this place has been around for well over a half a century (maybe 100 years??). It's a Brooklyn institution. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more traction on Citysearch. Granted it's off the beaten path for most of you, but if you're in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn during business hours (they close at 4pm), you gatta stop at DeFonte's for an amazingly delicious, juicy, mouthwatering hefty ""blue collar"" sandwich that will have you coming back for more, again and again. It's a tad overpriced, but their ""small"" sandwich should fill you up, so the value is actually good. If you're a really big eater, get their foot-long hero (easily good for two normal mortals). Worth the trip! I'll certainly be back!
Pros: Tasty, excellent combos, the real deal
Cons: Close on weekends, a bit off the main path
