Deep Blue Scuba & Swim Center

We are quite happy with Deep Blue! My 15 month old boy is enrolled here and has made remarkable progress in a fairly short amount of time. The instructors are kind and caring. The swim lesson follows pretty much the same routine each and every time, which is especially wonderful when just starting out, as lessons can seem scary to little ones (as well as the adults) at first. I like the fact the class size is small. Scott, our instructor is excellent with the children. We love the very warm temps of the pool, as well as the indoor factor! When I first started taking the parent and me class, I was very nervous about handling my very squirmy 15 moth old boy in the pool. In just 2 short months I have the confidence to take him into any pool and feel safe. Overall we are very pleased with Deep Blue and would gladly recommend them to all of our friends. more

Since there are no other Swim lessons for infants in Long Beach, except for the Y, deep blue found a niche market. First, let me say that Scott's the best instructor. The others are sub par. However, their facilities are not designed with the infant in mind. The changing table is literally 3&1/2 feet off a concrete floor with no safety provisions like straps or Borders. I see a HUGE LIABILITY ISSUE when the inevitable child falling happens. The bathrooms vent freezing air. There is no assistance for single parents to help with their infants. Why there are no lockers for people to change, I don't understand. Also, they expect infants to pay ahead on a regular monthly basis, which is unreasonable since 1. Infants and people are prone to sickness 2. Some people will bring sick babies to a pool rather than lose money 3. Make ups are too difficult to do with an infant. If they used the room they use for an office and where they hang their scuba gear as lockers, it would be more functional. Then, they could hang all that scuba gear near where they hose off and move the office someplace else either offsite or organised against the back wall. Just some suggestions. more

I recently moved my kids to Deep Blue when they launched a new swim school in addition to their SCUBA school, and couldn't be happier with the decision. The facility is amazing -- big, warm, indoor pool, no expenses spared. more

The scuba center is under NEW OWNERSHIP and WOW the place has changed dramatically...all in a great way. They sell everything related to scuba, spearfishing and snorkeling plus offer certification courses, rentals and repairs onsite. Also, there is an amazing SWIM SCHOOL, which is a wonderful addition to this already perfect location. more

i didn't know anything about scuba and was a bit hesitant at first but the classes were at a slow pace and made it easy. instructors at pacific sporting goods are passionate about teaching and i'm glad that i came here. p.s.-my friend went to sp**** chalet and failed... I purchased some items from this dive shop and was treated with professionalism and patience. So much so that I bought my daughter scuba diving lessons through them. It was a very positive experience for her. I am an experienced diver so they allowed me to go along on the open water dives. The instructor was attentive to the needs of the students, had a good plan and worked very well with them through their skills testing. He showed great patience with them through any difficulties they had. They don't work miracles but you won't go wrong using them. more

I just called them to see if they could fill my scuba tank They said ""sure come on down"", just as I was going to hang up they asked me to ""hold on"". When he came back on he had the nerve to tell me that ""their air tank was low so he would have to charge me way more than normal and that they would not be available till the next day"". Price hiking and slow service, not interested, I would avoid them for life if I were you...They are shady. Cons: Price hiking more

This dive shop was horrible. They say that they will mentor you and teach you scuba, but in the end they take your money and are rude. There are many dive shops to choose from, and this is not a quality one. Beware and go somewhere else. After losing $$ to them, I went somewhere else and successfully got certified in a nurturing learning environment. more

We bought most of our equipment from Pacific. Tom even explained things about equipment we bought from another store in a better manner than the sellers did. more
