*****THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS*** DO NOT USE CREDIT CARD 3/2/2009

The first time it happened I thought is was an honest mistake, they swiped my card 4 times, then two days later I went there again, not at my choosing, and it happened again, this time they swiped it twice, Please if you do decide to go, which i would really discourage, do not use your credit card, they WILL overcharge you, and not by mistake. It makes me wonder how many people dont notice the overcharges. Management will not help you, i tried speaking to manager and nothing. He didn't even try to help me, he said to call my bank. They could have just voided the transaction. Now i have to wait about a week to get my money back. Pros: LOCATION Cons: YOU WILL GET OVERCHARGED ON YOUR CREDIT CARD more

And another one 10/28/2008

After a decent brunch on a Sunday, we decided to give this place a try. We got to the door and the bouncer says he isn't letting more men inside. Usually I roll with a girl to guy ratio where this is not a problem but that day it was only me and one of my friends. Maybe that part we could see coming. My friend is not as patient as I am and he wanted to leave but I wanted to make sure that the bouncer was true to his word. I waited at the door and made sure that he did not let a single guy in the club before my friend and I were inside. Needless to say that sped up our entry because some of his ""regulars"" were starting to get annoyed. Once inside though, I was not impressed. The crowd was ok at best and the music was an awkward melange of house, techno, hip hop, salsa/merengue, and r&b in no discernible order. It really had no rhyme or reason. I am all for different types of music as long as the transition between songs and genres is smooth (not cacophonic). You won't get great music here but some of it will make you dance. Those of you, like me, who want some good hip hop and music in general, will be disappointed. Once again, not the friendliest places to young African American men but eventually they will let you in (hence the 2 stars) . . . Stay strong Pros: Average venue, They may let you in Cons: They might not more

diverse crowd, solid music 9/6/2008

Great for a party or a low-key drinking night or date, although it gets crowded and seating is 90% bottle-service. Outdoor access is a plus if you want fresh air, a break from the music, or a smoke. Bartenders are fast and hot. Easy place to stay until close. Everyone there is well-mannered and properly dressed. Cliques have a tendency to frequent there. Overall, it's worth checking out, and a decent fall-back location. Pros: class without the pretense Cons: crowded as the night ensues more

best friday night party in town! 7/8/2008

great place to go to relax 6/20/2008

I loved the atmosphere here it's a very nice lounge, drinks are a bit on the pricey side, but hey it's midtown people get used to it. I found it to be a great place to relax the staff was friendly and i didn't have to wait hours for a drink. Pros: great lounge spot Cons: parking more

I AGREE DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD 6/5/2008

I completely agree DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD AT DECO. I dont go to DECO very often- but the few times I have gone there has ALWAYS been a problem with over charging. At first I wrote it off as just being a simple mistake. However, the bar isn't crowded enough to where the bar tender is just so busy that they make mistakes. And it has happend more than once! If you want to avoid a headache- don't use your credit card, or just go to another bar/lounge! Beleive me- you won't be missing a whole lot by going somewhere else- I decided it's just not worth the headache!! Pros: Good atmosphere Cons: Too many problems with overcharging/ Inept Service more

DON'T USE PLASTIC!!! 2/25/2008

022108 I visted Deco w a group of friends, 3 different tabs among us. After a couple of drink requests it was obvious our server was out of her element; taking long amounts of time to return each order & there were less than 15 people. I requested to close my tab early. She returned with 2 checks; not 1 & informed me she didn't know how to process gift cards; gave her my debit card. We found out she was new to bartending. Not at all annoyed by that. We?ve all been new at one time or another & wanting for others to be patient & understanding. The server later came back to tell us she made a mistake. She claimed she placed my order on my on my friends? tab. On my drive home I remembered my receipt showing ?Up to $25 placed on hold? & I know my card # was on the receipt. What did she swipe my card for if she added my drink order to my friend?s tab? When I checked my account there were FOUR$25 items from Deco. Similar issues occurred with my friend's accts as well. 02/25/08 my coworker complained a bar overcharged her. It was DECO! Why didn't she tell me or apologize? There?s NO reason why 4 $25 items should be on my acct. I realize as a business Deco reserves the right to hold $25 for a $7 tab. I can understand making a mistake once, causing 1 $25 authorization, then processing the purchase correctly adding a 2nd $25. I don't understand making the mistake THREE times! This is my checking acct. A total of $100 has been on hold since Thurs & will remain on hold, unavailable to me to spend until Thurs of this week. What if I needed that money? What if I didn?t have the funds available? I could have balanced my acct responsibly & spent accordingly. My bank would charge me an insufficient fee for EACH item, regardless of whether or not those items were authorizations or purchases. Ultimately I would end up paying for a merchant?s mistake. I can?t believe that waitress would allow me to discover this mistake, instead of informing us. BEWARE of DECO and TAKE CASH! Pros: Quiet enought to talk Cons: Food not always available more

Good place to end the night 2/7/2008

Went here Saturday night with a group of girls and had a lot of fun. The place was moderately packed by the time we arrived (12:30-1:00). No problem getting in, the crowd was fairly diverse, mostly asians and indians. People were nice and I ran into alot of people I knew. Not much dancing going on, more of a lounge area. Pros: nice decor more

Always a pleasure, never a dull moment 10/22/2007

This place is great - great music, lighting, decor, specialty drinks, etc. Lounge/Bar, but still enough place to dance. Usually there for HH on Thursdays and they have great prices on drinks and appetizers. We use to go to Cyclones down the street, but too expensive & I think they use everclear in their ritas, which always packed a *!@#$% the next morning. Fun, fun, fun...see you there. Pros: Great all around. Cons: parking - best to go early and stay late. more

good happy hour 10/11/2007

We've been going for Thursday happy hours for the last two months or so.. I like the place.. the decoration is trendy and I like the music. but the best of all is that on Thursday they have drinks (all types of martinis) $3 all night! Check it out, it's worth it!! Pros: cheap drinks Cons: parking more

always a great time 8/27/2007

ok, so that last reviewer must've not gotten any that night because Deco is nothing like what it says. Fridays can be very crowded and if it smells like curry, it's because it's indian night. hellooo, get to know your promoters! EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. there can be a line at the bathroom, but i'm there a lot (this is my choice club) and the line hardly every goes outside the bathroom. actually, the number of times i've been this summer, i've never once waited outside the door. not that many people smoke there. Most of the smokers go to the other patio that faces the street. plus, those that are smoking at the large patio by the dance floor, the ac pushes most of the smoke out. cold air is stronger than warm air - duh. the drinks are priced very similar to the rest of the bars in midtown. i've never had a bad time at deco and am actually having my birthday party there in a couple of weeks. if you're looking for a place with good music to have a great time, i think this is the place to be. Pros: great music, fun atmosphere, very chic Cons: parking, it gets VERY crowded, but you accept it if you go more

Awesome music, average location, lame drinks, worse floorplan... 8/7/2007

The drinks are overpriced, when the bartender told me $31 and some change for a shot and two drinks, my response was immediately, ""I DON'T wanna leave it open..."" when I handed him my card. Pros: Location in relation to other midtown spots, great music, right next to BW3 for late night grubbing. Cons: Size, pricing. more

SMOKE FREE--FINALLY A PLACE THAT IS A HEAD OF ITS TIME!!! 7/30/2007

I must say being from Los Angeles and moving to Houston has been a big shocker. I had no idea how much I had missed the non-smoking of a lounge/ club till moving here. I'm telling you from experience that once you have experienced not smelling and feeling like you smoked a pack a cigarettes the next day when you know you don't ever smoke, then you will be happy to be in a smoke free lounge/club. more

Friendly patrons and great service 7/12/2007

I'm starting to become familiar with houston's night life after spending time in San Antonio as well as Austin. more

Nice bar 5/14/2007

Great bar to go to with friends. Usual bar, bartenders, drinks. Still can't get usedto bar pricing, not their fault though. more

good house music 12/27/2006

nice place, great drinks.. always have a good time. the dj is pretty good and plays more dance music as the night gets later. Pros: music, drinks, dancing Cons: can get crowded (usually later) more

Trendy place in Midtown, but small & crowded.. 11/17/2006

I like the bartenders in this place.. The music is really cool and the people are friendly. This place is very crowded and parking is bad.The decor is cool along with the plush sofas to sit and mingle.. more

Deco Bar- Pretentious As$%#holes for Employees, Don't Waste Your Time, Go To Escobar Instead!! 11/13/2006

I brought a huge group of people to this bar this past weekend and was taken aback by how rude the people were there (with the exception of a few good bartenders). They made very rude comments about a girl that was in our party. They said that she should have never been in the bar in the first place. Who do these people think they are, the club is in a stripcenter!! They have no room to judge people. The worst thing about this place is that they hired the dj to spin house music, but then were trying to bully her into playing hip/hop. I'm not doggin hip/hop, but when you hire a dj to spin house, don't get mad when that's what she plays. And to top it off, they didn't even pay her for working at the end of the night. Great management!! I will continue to tell everyone I know that this club is horrible. If you are a dj, please don't ever spin here, they won't pay you!! They think that they are hot #%^$, but in truth, this bar may last two more months before they turn it into a Starbucks. I have worked in a lot of bars downtown and one thing you don't do is make a big group of people mad that are spending a lot of money in their bar. Whoever wants to continue going to this bar, go ahead, but you will be wasting your money when there are so many other bars that are way better than this one. And one more thing, if you valet your car, leave before 1:30 because the valet shuts down at 1:30 and your left to find your own damn car somewhere downtown, which isn't very safe at 2:00 in the morning for ladies by themselves. Pros: Two good bartenders (one female, one male) Cons: Extremely Rude Manager and Doorguys more

Nice, relaxing place... 4/3/2006

This place is nice. Midtown, near BW3, with lots of street parking. Minimalist interior, lots of seating, and spacious bar. Good house DJ, spins mostly hip hop. No smoking, which is a definite plus, as well as no cover. Bartenders are fast enough. Crowd varies and recently, has been dead on fridays. Saturdays are better. Highly recommended for a chill, relaxing night or a pre-drinking for another venue. Pros: No smoking, no cover, seating Cons: quiet crowds more

Nice bar, but it was dead! 3/6/2006

Some friends and I went on a Saturday night, and despite the good dj, the place was DOA. The decor is somewhat underwhelming - typical Houston minimalist-sleek with abit of a Pier One vibe thrown in. I can't get into strip-mall bars, so maybe I'm biased, but it wouldn't be a draw to me. Maybe this place is hotter on Thursday nights, but it got cobbered that night - we went elsewhere and found a good crowd. Now I know why they charged me $7 for valet parking - I didn't stay long to buy drinks. Careful about that - they don't charge you or tell you when you drop the car off. Overall, not a standout. Pros: convenient location Cons: pricey valet, d-e-a-d, so-so decor more
