I have been bringing my pets to this office myself for over 15 years and previous pets of my parents. Although this office is not close to my home, I am happy with Dr. Wilcox and ...

Should not have the city contract for strays 4/23/2009

The place is way too small for holding strays and try to find homes for them. I wonder if the public is aware that, if they bring in their pet for boarding, the boarders are next to strays. Not that there is anything wrong with strays. However, since there is no medical care given to the strays by intake, the risk of picking up a contagious decease, is a possibility. I would not board my dog there, and the prices are comparable to any much better managed facility. I have seen very sick dogs, without any treatment, just waiting to be put down after the five mandatory days are up. How can they?? The ""business"" of sheltering and placing homeless animals is very profitable, since they have no extra expenses for personnel or maintenance of the building. Everybody does everything. The people handling the adoptions are unfamiliar with the animals and I could never figure out what method of matching they are using to be sure animal and adopter are the right match. Also, the fact that all transactions pertaining to adoptions, are cash only, raises some questions, as well as not being computerized. I find the staff to be uninformed, rude, without an ounce of compassion, disorganized, in short bad. The city of Syracuse should have their own shelter. If a town like Camillus can, why not Syracuse Cons: all more

Great place 1/26/2009

I love them and what the other people said doesn't sound liek the place we go. They are very friendly and we have adopted our pets from them as well and have never had a problem at all. more

good place 10/14/2008

I've read the reviews on this page, and it does not sound like the place that I go to for my dog. The receptionist plays and talks to my dog. I adopted my dog through them last year and have continued to take my dog their for all her vets needs. I have not had a bad experience there. I think this vet has a great staff that plays with your pets. more

FRUITY AND HIS WITCH ASSISTANC 7/31/2008

FIRST OFF THE GIRL AT THE FRONT DESK IS EXTRMELY RUDE.THE DR MAKES A GUESS AS TO WHAT HE THINKS IS WRONG WITH YOUR ANIMAL.THE VETS ASSISTANT LOOKS EVIL AND IS THE ONE THAT HANDLES YOUR ANIMAL AND STARES AT IT AS IF SHE JUST CAN'T WAIT TO TAKE IT INTO THE OTHER ROOM AND DO SOMETHING HORRABLE TO IT..THEY MAKE UP THEIR OWN PRICES BASED UPON YOUR APPERANCE,AND IF YOU EVEN DARE ASK FOR A RECIEPT,HA! SO MY FEMALE JUST GAVE BIRTH TO 10 PUPS ABOUT 5 DAYS AGO.ALL ARE WELL X-SEPT ONE.I BRING HIM IN TO BE SEEN,WAIT FOR EVER,THEN I'M CALLED IN FOR 5 SECONDS,HE SAYS HE'S DEHYDRATED,AND TELLS ME TO GO OUT TO THE WAITING ROOM,HE'LL BRING THE PUP OUT.THE CRAZY ASSISTANT BRINGS HIM OUT TO ME AND WITH AN ADITUDE SHE SAYS WE GAVE HIM A SHOT HE HAS BUMPS FROM IT,THEY NEVER SAID THEY WERE DOING ANYTHING TO IT.THEY SEND ME HOME WITH A THING OF PUPPY FORMULA AND SOME SURINGES AND TELL ME TO FORCE FEED HIM.THE PUP IS CRYING,IT'S BEEN CRYING FOR HOURS AND HOURS AS IF IT'S IN PAIN.I GET CHARGED AN ARM AND A LEG.I GO HOME AND THE PUP WILL NOT EAT,SO I FORCE THE DOG TO TRY TO SWALLOW A LITTLE,. THE PUP WILL NOT STOP CRYING,I RUB IT'S BELLY WITH WARM WATER ON A SOFT CLOTH,I DO EVERYTHING THIS DOC TELLS ME TO DO,BUT NOTHINGS WORKING.I CALL THE VET,THE SECRATARY SAYS TO PAGE HIM.SO I DO.HE CALLS AND I TELL HIM WHATS GOING ON,HE SAYS WELL I DON'T KNOW WHY HE'S CRYING,JUST KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING,THERES NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU.SO I WAIT ANOTHER HALF HOUR OR SO,BY THEN I'M IN TEARS BECAUSE I CAN'T BARE TO SEE THIS INOCENT BABY IN PAIN SOI FLY TO THE EMERGANCY HOSPITOL ON BRIDGE ST.SHE TELLS ME HE HAS NAMONIA,AND HE NEEDS TO BE HOSPITOLIZED OVER NIGHT.SHE GIVES ME A LIST WITH AN ESTIMATE,DEPOSIT OF $4000 .SO I CRYAND CRY BECAUSE BASICALLY IF YOU DON'T HAVE A TON OF MONEY YOUR LIFE MEANS NOTHING IN THIS WORLD.I HAD TO PUT HIM TO SLEEP,THE DEWITT DOC TOLD ME SOME LIE. JUST TO GET HIS MONEY AND THN I HAD TO GO ELSE WER TO FIND OUT THE TRUTH AND LOSE HIM ANYWAYS.I'M VERY UPSET.DO NOT GO TO DEWITT !! Cons: THE EMPLOYEES,THAT PLACE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED more

The Worst Vet Ever 6/26/2008

I brought my dog in for her yearly shots and exam today. Instead I received only shots, and a bill for an exam which never occured. As an added bonus, my docile golden retriever was placed in a muzzle, because of her ""dangerous behavior"". Dangerous behavior apparently includes quivering in the corner, afraid of a gruff and extremely unfriendly veterinarian. He even had the nerve to threaten to impound my dog if she snapped at him (something she had never done in any of her 5 visits to him or anyone else in her 4 years). Only later did I find out the real reason my dog was so scared. Apparently she could sense something I did not know....that this vet HATES dogs and actually makes part of his income by killing strays for the city of Syracuse after only a 5 day hold. Only bring your dog here if you want her to be mistreated and you wish to be threatened and overcharged. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more
