Dr. Blaess has been my dentist for over 2 years. I have 12 veneers and a root canal done by Dr. Blaess. The veneers are so good that no one can tell that I have ever had any dental work done. I get compliments on my teeth and I'm not embarrassed to smile any more. The work was painless while it was done and painless when I got home. Dr Blaess is wonderful and her staff very caring. I am a big coward about dental procedures... have needed gas even for cleanings. During the initial visit, they did everything to make me comfortable. They were not so accomodating during the following visits, apparently believing that speed would relieve the need for other anthing else. My treatment took several visits and by the last one, I was again really dreading going. Even though I know I have other dental issues, I am not significantly less reluctant to return. They need to be consistent with offering the ""comfort"" items, i.e., the lap robe, sunglasses, music headset and yes, drugs if necessary. more

I went in for pain on one side of my mouth. They never X-rayed me and gave me a crown. In 3 days I had a huge abscess. They gave me antibiotics after antibiotics. Dr. . Irene Blaess is not very empathetic. She doesn?t explain to you the procedures or side effects. I never met a medical professional like her. The best advice I can give you is to RUN if you get Dr. Blaess. Dr. Reyes seems nice though. more

A coworker recommended Dr. Blaess to me about three years ago. Dr. Blaess found some plaque buildup in between my teeth and the early stages of gum disease. She suggested I use a rotadent toothbrush and to floss every evening, which I have been doing for the past three years. Now, I am no longer showing any signs of gum disease and my teeth look and feel great, and Dr. Blaess is a huge part of that success. She is the best dentist I have ever encountered and I highly recommend her. more

Dr. Blaess and her staff have been an absolute pleasure to visit. I had anxiety about going to the dentist and put it off for a while. I needed to get a crown and couldn't put it off any more. Dr Blaess not only did an excellent job with my crown, but the whole experience was pleasant and very professional. I had a great experience with Dr. Blaess. I am a 34 year old who was embarrassed to laugh out loud with my teeth showing. I finished my treatment in 10 months, I have the perfect smile. I read the previous review and I can not understand the negativity contained in it. For some reason, this individual has an axe to grind. I have had many bad experiences with dentists through out my life. If it weren't for the professional and caring manner of Dr. Blasse and her entire staff, I wouldn't be pursuing the dental care I so desparately need. This past Tuesday morning I had called the clinic in pain. They were able to see me in less then an hour. Dr. Blasse examined me right away. She indicated that the tooth could be saved and that a root canel would need to be done. She was very diligent in her exam and discussion with me about my other contributing dental problems. It was only because of her caring and professional manner and being sensitive of my needs, that I am able to accept a flexible treatment plan that will address the immediate situation and my other problems that until now I had chosen to ignore. I have had the root canel and her work is just great. I was not afraid or in pain. Her casual confident manner made me feel at ease. I made an appointment for a check up for the 1st time at this office. Then I came into the office 2 weeks later. My appointment was at 7:00AM in the morning. Dr. Blaess arrived at 7:45AM. She did not apologize for being late. She said why don't you sit in the chair, and I will be back. She went to get coffee and came back about 15 minutes later. Again not taking into consideration that it was already almost 8:00AM. I was in the office for almost an hour and nothing has been done to me yet. Then she asked me why I was there. I told her I came in for a check up. I said I have not been to a dentist for a long time. She told me I will need to take x-rays. Someone else took me to take my x-rays. When I came back Dr. Blaess told me to sit back in the chair. When I sat down, she decided to take her shoes off. I looked at her, but she didn't say anything. When she took her shoes off, it was one of the worst smells that I have ever experienced. It was like being in a barn with a pig. It was just disgusting and awful. I thought I was going to be sick. By the time she started looking into my mouth, I could barely keep my mouth open because of this awful odor coming from her feet. However, I could not say anything. Cons: Unprofessinal more

I originally came in with a pain in my tooth thinking it was a cavity, only to find out it was a cracked tooth. My dentist was very sensitive to the fact that I had previously had unpleasant dental experiences and explained everything to me before starting anything as well as checking back. Additionally, she was extremely gentle and sensitive to the pain I was in and diligent and working towards solving the problem. Pros: Very gentle, understanding of my needs/fears more

I'm new to San Antonio, my husband is stationed here for next three years. I needed to see a dentist and I was referred to Dr. Blaess. I'm glad, I went to her she was very caring and attentive. Throughout the root canal I didn't feel a thing. I hope this post will help someone like me, who is looking for a good dentist. more

It's been just over a year and my braces are off. I can't believe I can smile now. I really liked the experience even though in the beginning I had my doubts - the discomfort and spending extra time on brushing my teeth and coming in to the office for adjustments. I have been coming to Dr. Blaess for years but due to my work I was out of San Antonio for 2 years. In the past 2 years I have seen four dentists, one for myself and three for my kids. The entire office, staff and Dr. Blaess have been wonderful! I have been a patient for 4 years and haven't had a bad experience yet. When I first began seeing Dr. Blaess, I was very afraid of dentists and knew that I needed alot of work done. Her adn her staff made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. My first few visits were long in depth and I was treated very repectfully and with care. For that I am a patient of hers for life (as long as she stays in San Antonio =0). With working in the medical field myself, patient referrals are very postive and encouraging. I think taht I have referred every employee that I know and firends that ask who I see. She takes great care of me and since I started Invisalign, she has been my new hero, because I love my smile!!! I am a frequent patient who is seen every four weeks and they are always willing to work with my busy schedule. I am going to be sad when i am done with my ortho care and only get to see her every six months. I would highly recommend anyone to schedule an appointmnet with Dr. Blaess. She is caring, a perfectionist (so my mouth is always looking its best) and loves what she does!! I have been through several Dentists in my life and have none of them have treated me the way that I was treated at Northwoods Dental Spa. Dr. Blaess and Dr. Z took the time to explain my treatment program to me in a way that could be understood. The Staff was amazing, professional and informative. It was nice to go to a place that you wouldn't normally feel comfortable and feel right at home. The addition of the Spa Services has turned it into a family venture for myself, my wife and our children. Thanks Northwoods for being the best! more

Dr. Blaess and staff at Northwoods Dental did an excellent job. I had 6 veneers put it, now every one tells me that I look younger. My kids tell me they want to go to a dentist and get a smile like mine. Pros: Service and time more

Had a routine procedure and got an infection in my gums the next day. Went in to see the Dr. Blaess and she wasnt there so Dr. Z told me i was fine and gave me some mouthwash. Two days later i had a headache and the pain was moving from my mouth up the side of my face. Went back again, and literally had to BEG for antibiotics. RIDICULOUS! Do not go here unless you are prepared to beg for proper treatment. more
