Best

If you like fat crust pizza- skip this place. However, if you by any chance happen to love thin crust or at least willing to try- go for the D'Lorenzo's pizza. I been there at Ham...

Worst

I read the Citysearch reviews and drove all the way to the seedy side of town that De Lorenzo's is in. Crisp crust... yes, tasty... no. By the way, I actually liked the fact that ...

This is the mother of all pizza! 4/26/2005

You have not enjoyed pizza till you had a Tomato Pie from DeLorenzo (Hudson St. Trenton). You must try it just once and you will wonder what you have been eating all along. Pros: Homemade, Excellent, Like being home Cons: Small, Busy, Crowded more

Superlative Tomato Pie 11/24/2004

THE pizza (tomato pie) that all pizza must be compared. I live in New York City which has AMAZING Pizza. I've been to all the best: Patsy's, Totonnos, Grimaldi's, Joes, Arturos. While close, none of these classic joints is as PERFECT a pie as Delorenzos. The perfect balance of thin, chewy slightly charred crust, to tangy tomato sauce, just enough cheese and sparingly used but perfect toppings. Get more pies than the number of people in your party. Ask for them ""staggered"". Get a side order of hot peppers and bring your own Beer or Wine or both. Sure they don't have a bathroom but sacrifices need to be made when you are enjoying a pie this perfect. more

Best Pie 5/5/2003

I have gone to DeLorenzo's for 30 years now and it is the best Tomato Pie (Pizza)you will ever eat. They tried to grow and open some other locations in the 80's, but the Hudson St. location is the original and best. For years Only locals, to the City of Trenton, knew about DeLorenzo's and it was a type of prestige to ""turn people on"" to DeLorenzo Pie, but now word has obviously traveled as far as Philly. If you go, think about take-out. There isn't much room and no BATHROOMS. Hours are limited. Pros: Best Tomato Pie, Original for years, Step back in Time Cons: Small dining room, NO bathrooms, Can be a long wait more

Mick Brogan 3/6/2003

I grew up in Trenton less than one block from DeLorenzo's. I now live in Minneapolis and make DeLorenzo's a part of my itinerary on ever trip home. Second stop the Casino Restaurant on Andersen St. for a n Italian Style Hot Dog. What could be better? Well, maybe a trip to Italian Peoples Bakery for a canoli. Perfect trip. Pros: Reasonable Prices, Good Food, Good Company more

Watta pizza! 2/10/2003

This was the Best pie I ever had! Weekly customer. more

takeout only 2/1/2003

Pizza is good, byob, but the place has no restrooms, you have to wait outside to get a seat, its very small inside. Good luck finding it in the 'burg and finding a sport ot park on the street. Pros: good pizza Cons: no parking, no restrooms, limited seating more

Agree with a little twist. 1/9/2003

I enjoy the taste of the pie but always find it difficult to find parking. I find myself going to De Lorenzo's on Hamilton Ave (owned by the brother)more often who also has a great tasting pie, larger facilities, surrounding's are better lit, has a bathroom and easier to park. Pros: Great tasting pie Cons: poor parking, no bathroom more

It beats Chicago!!!!!! 1/2/2003

Very GOOD 12/24/2002

THis pie is good, especially the fact that they cut a circle pie like a sicillian! Check out DeLorenzo's on Hamilton Ave though, but definately check out MOSSIMOS on hamilton ave for THE BEST pie Pros: AUthentic ITALIAN! Cons: Parking more

De Lorenzo's or De Lorenzo's 12/6/2002

This De Lorenzos is pretty good, but check out the other De Lorenzos in trenton as well........cant think of the street name, but not too far from the other one. They have a bathroom! And their pizza is the best in the world.......its the first place i go when i come home for a visit from school. Check it out! Pros: great food, cheap Cons: no bathroom, small, hard to get in more

True Italian 11/27/2002

I remember De Lorenzo's from my childhood when I grew up in Trenton, NJ. When I went back there 19 years later, it was walking back into a time I had long forgotten. De Lorenzo's not only looked the same, but still made the best food I remember. I was surprised to see the restraunant hadn't changed. However, finding a parking space close by was still a challenge. There are few places I visit when I'm in NJ. De Lorenzo's is always #1. Pros: Atmosphere, Warmth, Friendly Cons: Parking more

Just The Best In The World 11/6/2002

Thin crust less chese more tomato with mushroom, black olives and light garlic. Do the same with extra pepperoni and light garlic. Until you had this, you haven't eaten tomato pie or pizza on this earth. We call it the tomato pie run. Ongoing for fifteen years. No sharesies, one pie each. Nothing goes home. The Boys From Delran High School Pros: There are no cons., Bathroom is the best more

Don't Expect ""Pizza"" 11/6/2002

If you're expecting real pizza at DeLorenzo's, you will be disappointed. They are TOMATO PIES. There's little or no cheese and they are usually burnt. True pizza lovers should not go there. Tomato pie lovers may like the place, but the ""ambience"" is nonexistent. No bathrooms, no atmosphere. Pros: busy, friendly, prompt service Cons: bad parking, no bathrooms, no cheese more

I dream about this pizza 11/5/2002

Being a native Trentonian, I grew up on DeLorenzo's pizza... and now that I no longer live in the area, I am going through withdrawal!!! There is no such thing as ""DeLorenzo-like"" pizza in the Washington, D.C. area, which is truly a hole in this area's restaurant offerings... there is nothing in the world like it, and I honestly would drive 3 hours, back to Trenton to get a pie... I know that sounds crazy, but when you crave it, you gotta have it! more

Best Pizza On Earth!!! 11/1/2002

The best pizza anywhere! This place would make the people in Italy want to fly to New Jersey for a pie! more

Absolute Best in the Region 11/1/2002

Never had any better in the Philadelphia area. And that's from a thick crust guy commenting on their thin-crust pizza! Pros: great sauce & cheese, great toppings, moderate prices Cons: no bathrooms, long wait on weekends more

Prime Time Shootout and De Lorenzo's 9/23/2002

For two years, I have attended the Prime Time Shootout at the Sovereign Bank Arena and walked over to De Lorenzo's a few times. What a great pizza!! I compare this pizza to Santarpio's in East Boston, Pizzeria Regina's in Boston, and Frank Pepe's in New Haven. The person taking the money has been mentioned but I disagree. The ""locals"" get a very friendly greeting. Us visitors can only sit there and wish we could be locals. For one thing, the locals can go to the bathroom before they come for the pizza or slip out to go home if they need to. Can't wait until the tourney this year to return to De Lorenzo Pros: Tasty Pie, Great sauce, Great crust Cons: No Rest Room, No place to wait, crowded all the time more

10 8/17/2002

The best pie I ever had. The wait is worth every minute. Pros: Great pie, Inexpensive Cons: No restrooms more

best pizza 8/13/2002

It's the best, but you will have to wait for it. Pros: The Best Pizza Cons: Parking, capacity, service more

Tomato Pie Maestro 8/13/2002

Without a doubt, De Lorenzo's Tomato Pies on Hudson Street in Trenton are the best ever made. THey are not technically, a ""pizza,"" they are in a class all their own. Worth the drive from anywhere. more

  • In Short
Long ago transformed from row house to restaurant, this family-run pizzeria still feels like a home. The tomato pie is as down-home and authentic as the surroundings. Sweet...
