Best

The best pasteries, coffee, cakes, etc. You name it, it's awesome. I come all the way from PA; a drive of 3 hours and it is so worth it. Great people and mostly great food.

New Location 4/29/2011

I have been an avid fan of this shop since my young childhood. I have gone back too many times recently with completely sloppy packaging and no attention to detail whatsoever.\r \r I have been a customer through my Parents and Grandparents and am sorry to say they finally lost me forever as a very long time customer. I am unwilling to spend my money in a place that squashes my cheesecakes as they are rushing and inattentive, or put up with unruly and impolite clientele, and destroy a product that you are paying upward of $10 per pound. I have never come home with any product in tact since they opened in the new location. If you order cookies, cakes, or pastries, they are simply a mess when you open the box, and the same with every product they are processing.\r \r I am a generational customer which means my family has gone there for almost 50 yearsand 3 generations and going on four with our children, but have wasted my dollars too many times recently. \r \r If you want good service, and a staff that pays attention go elsewhere. My suggestion to De Lillo is to move back to basics and take care of the customer. I gave you at least 10 chances to make it right and you have failed on every single occassion. \r \r This location made a huge mistake in moving into a factory environment. I hope your family is happy not paying attention to the business and taking care of regular customers that have supported you for so long. Although your product is nice it is not worth spending the money for product that is simply destroyed when bringing it over as a gift for a family dinner. I have wasted too much money here lately and am unwilling to do it again or apologize for your product. It is a waste of time, aggrivation, you have completely untrained staff, and the quality has gone completely downhill.\r \r I was excited about the new location but have wasted at least $300 here and am now never willing to go back.\r \r Get it together, you guys used to be the hands down favorite in the area for great customer service and quality product but not anymore. You have lost your touch and a long time customer.\r \r When a family owner now shows up I have always been used to at least a ""hello"" or ""how are you"". now they just jeer and the business is totally out of control.\r \r Goodbye my friends....I wish you could have been at least nice since you moved but as I said you really lost your touch and I can't stand going into your shop anymore as it is just an exercise in toture. You really lost your attention to detail....what a shame! \r \r You used to be the best.\r \r Look at your pizza neighbor ""Stanley"", who took his time opened a renovated location and pays attention to his regular customers with a better more enhanced product, menu, and hugely increased personal customer service. Just because you opened a bigger place doesn't mean you are better or deserve my continued patronage or hard earned money. \r \r I only shop at the best places in Little Italy, yours is now not one of them.\r \r One other example is that I paid for product and then tried to get an Italian ice when I noticed them at the end of your product line. You would never pay any attention to my family, we sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting for service and although we were told to wait a second, noone ever returned. It would have easily been an extra $15 dollars that we would have spent but left with our tails between our legs feeling totally unappreciated with my children and spouse feeling totally frustrated that we just wasted our money in your establishment. I can't get my family to even go back in there again as the experience has now failed.\r \r I am totally disappointed with your new location and you will never see me again. My 4th generation will learn where to purchase at a different pastry shop and hopefully they will carry on my tradition and terse decision. \r \r I am so dissapointed in your new location.\r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r more

Best Italian pastry in Greater New York 11/29/2008

When the Belmont section of the Bronx (""Italian Fordham"") housed 40,000+ Italians and Italian-Americans through the late 1960's, the local consensus was that the best of the most popular varieties of southern Italian-style (Neapolitan and Sicilian) pastry in the New York metro area could be found at a little shop called Colavolpe at the SW corner of Prospect Ave./ E.187th St. DeLillo came in a close second back then, with more variety, and now it is Numero Uno in quality.. The much larger Artuso's, located at Crescent Ave./E. 187th St. (but not other stores using the name in the metro area) comes in second these days in quality, and offers greater variety and capacity for catering large parties. Bensonhurst, eat your heart out: you can't make up in pastry size what you lack in sophistication. Grand Street, give it up: only the tourists (except those from Italy) are fooled by the high prices. Pros: Quality, service, historic authenticity Cons: Very cramped; lines out the door during days just before Christmas and Easter more

Best chocolate petite fours never, ever to be found on the West Coast in the 38 years that I've been out here... 3/15/2008

I missed the petite fours we used to get from De Lillo's Pastry Shop, so much so that I had my brother, Steven drive all the way down to the old neighborhood, from Hartford, CT just to pick up a box to send to me out here in Culver City, CA. Now that I've got the exact address and phone number, which came on the box, I'll just call them up and order another supply shipped directly from De Lillo's. Thanks, Steven. And, thank you, De Lillo's! more

Not the Best 1/12/2008

This is average pastry. Whoever might think this is the best should take a ride down to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, 18th Ave. & 70th St. and surrounding area, where the best rated pastry bakers in the USA can be found. more

The Absolute Best Pastries 11/26/2006
