rudest server EVER 10/3/2010

I will never go to this place again due to the rude waiter who had our table. HORRIBLE! Rude and slow on a not particularly busy night. Crab bisque was good, but my stomach felt ill from the bad vibe from the waiter (male, medium to large build, with short brown hair). Don't go there! There are so many options, why spend your hard earned money to feel tense instead of relaxed? more

Amazing Tuna Melt 6/28/2010

Went for Sunday brunch. Menu was not the usual group of tired brunch offerings. Each dish was anchored in the traditional but taken to a different level or re-interpreted. Tuna melt BLT was delicious, the pork belly infused the tuna with a great flavor that took this normally ho hum sandwich to new heights. The staff were friendly, upbeat and very knowledgeable about the menu. Over all a very enjoyable meal. Pros: Great food, service and space. Cons: None that I can find more

Service was abysmal 5/19/2010

The two of us just wanted a basic lunch, and we hadn't tried this spot yet. All was good until the server started to ""serve"" us. No help with the menu when asked for suggestions and recommendations for first-timers. Just a smirk and pointing to the section of lunch entres. She seemed put out to help and we didn't feel welcome. When we wanted to order beverages, she couldn't be bothered to tell us what they had, or give us our menus back so we could look for ourselves. Then she only showed up again when it was tip time. Good food, but for what you get it's too expensive. If I'm going to spend $20 for lunch, it better be a grand slam experience, but this just left us flat. We may go back, but not anytime soon. Pros: Good atmosphere, good food, easy to get into. Cons: Spendy for what you get, service is awful. more

Spendy, just ok 12/30/2009

Our dining group went last Saturday. Definitely not your typical ""tavern"" and no burger on menu (I'm veggie anyway). Nice that they have a reasonably priced 3-course fixed price menu, but I ordered off menu since I didn't like the choices on fixed price. Several others did order fixed price - we found the salads really lacked flavor (and were nearly $10 if ordered off menu!). I got crab bisque (really good) and fish (just ok, the sauces really had no flavor and brussels sprouts were tough). Overall probably would not go back - too spendy for what we got, much better out there for same price or less. Pros: Crab bisque & fixed price menu Cons: Not enough flavor in food more

Happy hour specials made us very happy 10/14/2009

Loved the eclectic flavors - the coconut milk & lemongrass mussels, the fish tacos, hangar steak frites. Great beer and wine choices, too. Friendly staff, and right on the new green light rail line. Jackpot! Pros: Great small plates more

Good food and Great Service 6/30/2009

My husband and I first went here for a birthday party, and were so impressed with the waitress and the food that we had to come back on our own. Our servers have been excellent every time we have been back. I love the seared chicken with mac and cheese. My husband is obsessed with the lamb burger. This restaurant seems to make a real effort to showcase local wines, spirits and beers. I would like to see a little more variety on the menu, and a greater focus on seasonal items - but everything we have eaten has been fabulous. The food is fresh, nicely presented, and well seasoned. I highly recommend the happy hour menu if you are looking for a deal. The only downside appears to be a lack of air conditioning. We went one day when it was in the low 80's (with no breeze) - and it was uncomfortably hot inside. Pros: Food, Wine and Beer List, Service Cons: Poor or no air conditioning? more

good but can improve 6/27/2009

great place! has a lot to offer, with good balance of mutiple of factors that is unique to portland. i wish they can put food out quicker from the kitchen, especially ordering from the bar and stop over cooking the burgers. it's really good but could be better if they can get the temperature right. food in the dining room was great!! Pros: atmosphere, great staff, good food Cons: parking more

Excellent! 2/22/2009

Excellent food and great service! A must try! There was a private event in the back when we were there so we had to have dinner in the bar but it was fine. Great atmosphere! more

Don't sleep on this one... 2/15/2009

We had the best Valentine's dinner EVER at this spot! Every course was phenomenal and we took advantage of the smart wine-pairings with each course. The food, service, and space were all amazing. Portland should be proud to add this one to the mix. We are looking foward to coming back to this place. Pros: All of the important things Cons: Someday Lounge next door was loud more

Chic yet warm atmosphere with beautiful delicious food 2/1/2009

This place is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a while. I am so excited to have it in the neighborhood! Our group of thirteen came in for a work party, and it couldn't have been a more perfect spot. We were given 5-star service the entire night. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, yet very modern and sophisticated. Not too loud, it would be the perfect romantic spot with its soft lighting. AND THE FOOD....was incredible. Beautifully presented, but also a decent amount of food on the plate. I have a big appetite, and I was very full after the crab bisque and the sea scallops. EVERYTHING on the menu looked wonderful. The happy hour wine is only $5 a glass, and they also have a very impressive wine list. Visit this place often...I know I will! \r \r Pros: High quality food, perfect atmosphere for a date or with friends, wine list Cons: none yet more

OH yum, a new little gem! 1/14/2009

I met a business group here for lunch today thinking it would be a casual tavern. It was so much more. The ambience is sophisticated and warm at the same time, the wait staff was professional, and the burger was DIVINE...shoestring french fries the way I like em, crispy and salty, so so good. I love open aired places but sometimes not the noise, but despite the lofty feel (with exposed brick my fav) this place was not noisy. Also on the menu is lamb burgers, fabulous salads, and a cozy winter special of grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup. Everything was to die for! Pros: ambience, yum food, service, flexible seating for large groups more
