Merle gives a great haircut. She used to cut my hair years ago, then I stopped working in CC. I starting using other stylists. When I was in town recently, I stopped by and asked her if she could squeeze me in. The haircut was so much better than what I had been getting. I forgot how good she was. I now just went back for my second time. It's out of my way but worth it. more

I've been going to Dave's for 6 years now, and have always had a great haircut. From the time I walked in I was made to feel very welcome by Merle and Analisa. I moved out of the area two years ago, but have kept going back...I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. more

BEST BARBER SHOP IN TOWN 6/14/2011

I have been a customer of 15 years and 4 years ago I moved my 4th Street office to 20th Street. I still go there to have my hair cut. It is the best barber shop in town!!! Meryle and Lisa are the two best barbers in town, I would not go anywhere else - Joe Fullem\r \r more

Cuts wih a smile 6/29/2010

Of all the places I've gone to get my hair cut over the years, Dave's is by far my favorite. The service is top notch and the friendly environment created by Merle and Lisa is a great bonus. Add to this an eclectic music selection and reasonable cost and you've got a winning combination. If you live or work in Old City Philly, I can't recommend Dave's highly enough. Go there! Great Highlights & Trim 8/19/2009

I found myself in Philly with two inch roots on a complicated color & cut. At first glance I thought I had made a mistake in choosing Dave's since it looks like a barber shop, but Lisa was so nice I decided to give her a try. My color & style is not something you see everyday, but Lisa managed it like a real pro. My color is FANTASTIC and my trim was perfectly done. She only charged $75 when I'm used to $100+ elsewhere. My husband also got a cut by Merle and it looks great. These ladies are super nice and Lisa can handle anything you throw her way! Pros: Nicest Ladies in Town Cons: Cash more

merle gives an awesome scalp massage at the end of the cut. can't beat it. she and lisa are very attentive. the men in my office go here for a great barber, but the women love it as a salon. Pros: convenient, relaxed, flexible more

Great Cut at Any Price 10/10/2007

Don't let the name Dave's Barber Shop fool you because this is really a full service salon. The cut and color I received from Merle caused people in my condo to ask where I was getting my hair done. People will tell you that if hair is cut properly daily care is no problem and that has definitely been my experience with this cut. I liked the service so well I took a good friend to the shop but will let her rave about her experience at Dave's for herself.\r \r Definitely a salon to return to!!!! Great Haircut...Great Price....Wonderful Stylists 6/29/2007

I had my first experience with Dave's Barbershop today and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Merle was extremely nice, charismatic, and a very skilled stylist. She was extremely friendly...all while giving one of the best cuts I've ever had. The price is very affordable and the service is fantastic. I highly recommend Dave's. i like dave's barbershop/salon. the ladies there are nice and do their job well. i would definately recommend them. my only question is, who is dave? Pros: in old city, quick appointments Cons: more expensive than i'm used to, but that's the deal when you're in an area like old city. more

Great barber shop! 10/5/2006

This is a great place! The ladies are nice, funny and very good at cutting hair. They also are extremely flexible--I can't tell you how many times I have asked them to take me before they officially open, or between appointments, and they are always happy to squeeze me in, either for a full cut or just a neck and beard trim. It is a pleasure to deal with them during my busy schedule. more

Merle and Lisa provide terrific service to their customers. They make you feel like very important family when you come in. I have been going there for more than 5 years now and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They cater to both men and women for hair and nails. Their color skills are fabulous. Best Hair Cut in Olde City Philadelphia 6/28/2006

I've been going to Dave's for about 10 years and I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else. To say that the staff at Dave's is friendly, courteous, and accomodating is a gross understatement. Just like most people, my time is precious and I am certainly a procrastinator - Merle and Lisa always go out of their way to fit me in.\r \r If you work in Olde City, Dave's is the place for you.
