While my main complaints are about the crappy unit I'm stuck in for a year at the Laurelhurst Apartments, my biggest complaint is about the leasing agent who rented it out to me. My viewing appointments had been double-booked by the agent, which meant that me and one other person were scheduled to look at the same units at the same time, even though she admitted that I had contacted her first. One unit was obviously not great, and the other one was clearly better. It was clear that both of us wanted the better unit, and her reaction was that it was ""first come, first serve"" and that whoever could get her a completed application first would be given the unit. She also said that the units in this building are rarely open and that they go fast, giving me an even bigger sense of urgency at being ""lucky enough"" to live here. Well, I've been here for a few months now and have noticed several vacancies here that have been open since I moved in. This is probably due to the fact that the building has paper thin walls and is just poorly constructed overall. I've had problems with the electricity, plumbing,the community laundry room, a stomping upstairs neighbor, a seriously creepy downstairs neighbor, and just a general unfriendly vibe. I HATE this place, and I never would have taken it if I hadn't felt pressured and like there wouldn't be any other units to take in case I didn't pick it RIGHT THEN. While the staff at Dave Poletti are very nice and pleasant to work with, their technique for getting rentals occupied is extremely shady. I'm counting down the months until I can get outta here.
