Fully Satisfied. Went in for my first colonoscopy and found Dr. Dar and her staff to be very professional and kind. Had some issues with the prep because of the way my colon is, but they were very helpful in getting me through the process. I thought the follow-up visit would be a waste of time, but was amazed at how much more information I received on the results, plus the advice they gave me on making my system work to the best of its ability. more

DANGEROUS...You Must Read This!!!!! 12/31/2011

FRIGHTENING!...She dismisses patients who seek a second opinion. Luckily for us we had already moved on when we told her we had sought a second opinion. READ ON.... Her lack of knowledge and/or care NEARLY COST MY HUSBAND'S EYESIGHT....PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW, it could save the sight and possibly life of you or your loved one. The absolute worst experience with a doctor in my life. This (""doctor?) could have caused my husband to go blind due to her lack of knowledge and disregard for the warning signs I repeatedly told her staff about over a series of 2 weeks. She put my husband on chemo drugs for his condition without first testing his eyesight and then not following up on his eyesight during the treatment which IS THE STANDARD PROPER PROTOCOL for the this treatment. This eye exam protocol is written right on the cautions and side effects that come with the chemo drugs! The reason to test the eyes is because there is a possibility you can go blind as a side effect of the chemo drugs she put him on. When he started losing his eyesight I called her office repeatedly each time letting them know that his sight was getting progressively worse. I pleaded with her RUDE staff for to please get Dar to call me back which SHE NEVER DID!!!!! After almost 3 weeks her PA finally responded and told me that Dr. Dar didn't think the drugs had anything to do with my husband's loss of sight and simply left it at that. I was appauled and angry to say the least. Thanks to god I had the presence of mind to call a Hematologist (Dr Wilks) who upon hearing what was happening to him INSISTED I get to an eye suregeon THAT DAY. Upon examening his eyes, the eye doctor suggested we to find another Gastro and luckily we found Dr. Zurita who sent us directly to Dr. Eric Lawitz who immediately took my husband off the chemo drugs and thanks again to god he did! My husband;s eyesight gradually got better and we are now waiting for another drug trial to start up for his condition. All I can tell you is I would not let Dar nor her husband, who is also a Gastroenterologist, ever touch any loved one of mine. If every word I have written is the absolute Go's truth!!! I don't know the intelligence level of the people who have given this horrible medical non professional a positive review but my final thought to you is "" A WORD TO THE WISE SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT""!!!!!!!! more

Dar the Excellent Dr! 5/20/2011

Dr Dar. is an outstanding gastrointestinal doctor. She spends a great deal of time getting to know her patients so she can more effectively treat their aliments. She treats you as if you?re her family and immediately makes you feel super comfortable. She will also go the extra mile to find out what is making you feel ill and not just dismiss you as having some sort of psychosomatic aliment which seems to be common place in San Antonio. Today she completed my colonoscopy and it was completely painless with no problems whatsoever. I?m only 25 and she identified a large polyp which is currently being test. I can honestly say that she has my best interest, and I feel that my health is in excellent hands with her and her supporting medical team. She is highly educated, intelligent, personable, caring and has an excellent reputation. more

A good doctor and a great supporting staff 12/17/2010

This has been a trying year for my wife and her health concerns. A routine colonoscopy morphed into an additional CT scan because they thought there was a spot on her pancreas. Thankfully, another CT showed that there was nothing to be concerned about but in the meantime a bout of Bells Palsy set in. But Dr. Dar has been so available and either she or her PA Stormy have taken a substantial amount of time to answer all of our questions and concerns. Stormy was even able to troubleshoot a gastric problem that we had been chasing with other doctors for well over 6 months. As the spouse that is there with the patient, I really like the visual aids and handouts that they provide to explain what was done and what was found and how it impacts the patient. While it can seem like you are a steer being run through the stockyards the time that they do spend with you is of a very high quality and since my wife is the patient and she loves Dr. Dar and her staff. that is all I need to know. more

Top Gastroenterologist 12/11/2009

My whole family likes her and she has taken care of all my needs. Pros: Competent more

Passionate and competent 12/11/2009

She diagnosed my cancer when no one could. Pros: Very competent Cons: wait time more

Excellent physician 12/11/2009

Highly skilled physician.I had my colonoscopy and did not feel a thing unlike my last physician did. Pros: Extremely compassionate Cons: may have to wait a bit more

Is there really a ""Dr. Dar""? 12/1/2009

Like the others, I saw the Dr. a total of 5 seconds before I was put under for my colonoscpy. Her PA breezed in and breezed right back out out on the day of my first consult. Before the PA came in a ""nurse"" ran through a list of ""have you ever had"" SO FAST I know I didn't answer more than half of the questions and even asking her to slow down did not help. The office and facilities used by Dr. Dar are STRICTLY ASSEMBLY LINE. It's now 12 days later and I still do not know my biopsy results and when I called I was told it had only been 5 days....let's see...my procedure was the 18th and it is now the 1st....do the math. Pros: Nice Offices Cons: Don't plan on seeing ""the Dr."" more

Please read these reviews! 11/23/2009

I've been in that office multiple times over the last couple of years and I've seen Dr. Darr for 15 seconds. (Must be nice to have the PA do all your work). Those 15 seconds right before I went to sleep from getting wheeled in for my scope. Waited over 2 hours at another hospital because there wasn't a signature from Dr. Darr allowing the hospital to do my blood work. Spent a whole week vomiting and D-ea, so I took off work to go into Dr. Darr's office to find out what was wrong. They basically gave me anti-vomiting medicine and sent me on my way! Needless to say I ended up in the emergency room 2 days later from dehydration! This whole office is a joke! I have an appointment with a new gastro today so hopefully someone will help! Please read these reviews. It wasn't until after I've gone through 2 years wasted and money till I found these reviews...and still suffering from same GI symptoms with no answers. =( Pros: NONE! Cons: Who is Dr. Darr? more

Incompetent Doctor 10/17/2009

This doctor clearly is not competent in diagnosis, and is not willing to read charts of he patients!!..Very dangerous, she made life threatening mistakes!!!! All I can say is listen to the others who have written and run!!!.. We had 3 interactions with her and she made serious mistakes all 3 times, then lied about it and tried to cover it up!!! more

Find another dr. 7/27/2009

I'm here in the office and my appt was at 11.15 and now it is 12.30 I was told their was an emergency but they're back there eating lunch more

Dr Dar should not be able to practice medicine! 7/7/2009

All I can say is one word, RUN!!!!!!! This is not a good doctor and is rude. He did not help me and sent me home in severe pain with a prescription for IB Prophen. I did not know what they were because i am not a pain doc or in the medical field. I went home and took the IBP and found out I could get it at Wal-mart in a lower dose. I spent $200.00 on seeing Doctor Dar for pain management and he gave me a over the counter medication. I got a second opinion and was placed on a pain plan with the right medication by Doctor Avila who was great! DO NOT see Doctor Dar he has no bedside manner and should be a dermatologist not a pain doc, he could care less if you are in pain and will not prescribe you any pain medicine. He does not care about you, only the money you give him! I even met a 70 year old woman that saw Doctor Dar that stated he did not even give her medication when she had a sever pelvis fracture. NO THANKS. Doctor Dar if you ever read this, please change you're ways and remember why you became a Medical Doctor. You should also fire all you're front desk staff, they were like talking to multiple walls, were rude and did not seem all too bright. They need some sensitivity training! Doctor Dar's Practice is a JOKE!!!!!! Pros: Got to leave his office Cons: Doctor Dar has a medical license to help people more

Had great experience 7/14/2008

I recently had a scope by Dr Dar and I must say that the prep experience was the worse part. Dr Dar came in prior to doing the scope and her assistance announced her present and within ten minutes, I was iwheeled to the recuperation area. She was late in doing my procedure, but encountered some issues with prior patients, and I totally do understand that. After a little while she came in to tell my husband and I the results and spent as much time as needed - she answered my questions/concerns. She is undoubtedly a very busy doctor, therefore, I sometime I understand having to wait to see her, but when she does spend time with you, you do get the facts and she makes you feel comfortable. I'm sorry that she has received a few bad reviews, because I have not experienced anything bad with office visits or the procedure.. As a matter fact, I had put off this procedure for three years and I'm glad that I was referred to Dr Dar. more

RUN THE OTHER WAY 7/8/2008

I WOULD NOT LET THIS WOMAN SCOPE MY DOG. I never saw her before my procedure, I only saw her nurse. Apparently this is how they do things. On the day of my scope, she said two words to me and I was out. IMMEDIATLY upon awakening I knew something was wrong.SHE KNCKED 4 OF MY BOTTOM TEETH LOOSE. Cons: every aspect of visits more

Stay Away! 4/2/2008

I waited 1 1/2 hours to be seen for a 4:45 appointment. I showed up at 4:26. After her nurse took my history, she finally came in. Two hours now? Pros: Front desk operator and nurse very nice Cons: everything else, Dr Darr more

So not helpful 8/1/2007

After spending time and lots of money...I'm still not feeling well. Made an emergency room trip after being almost ignored by Dr. Dar. Still need help but certainly not going back to that office. more
